TERA PC - General Discussion: Returning player, needing advice.

Just returning after a few years of being gone and wondering if I can get some advice.

What classes now are the best at DPS, Tanking, Burst, and PvE in general.
I loved brawler but I just want some other suggestions. Thanks~!

It's not like it was when they were releasing new classes, where one or two classes would be head and shoulders above the others; every class is viable. This is probably the most balanced the classes have been in a long time. There are a few that are slightly higher and a few that are slightly lower but all that changes so frequently that it's not really worth deciding on a class over anyway. Besides that, first and foremost is how well you play the class. There are people with good gear that do considerably better than others with BiS gear, just because they are better at the class.

Just pick what is most appealing/fun. (FYI: Brawler can now be played as tank or dps, since you mentioned brawler)

Go with your gut, play what you like. Use a BuddyUp code to get some extra leveling rewards and just have fun.

While what @TYoung11 said is generally true, there are some classes that just raw out perform other classes. It still comes down to your ability to play a class more so until you get into the "upper echelon" of players... If you're bad at a class, it being a "meta pick" won't change anything; You'll still do worse than other, 'weaker' classes. In the same sense, if you're good at a 'weaker' class, you'll outperform people who aren't quite good at the class they're playing.

Reaper has been top of the pack since Awakening, while Warrior and Ninja haven't fallen far from the tree. Reaper and Warrior are sustained DPS classes due to their short cooldown steroids skills (Deadly Gamble and Shadow Reaping respectively), whereas Ninja is a burst class due to its stronger but higher cooldown steroids skill (Inner Harmony).

Just try every class that piques your interest, and stick with one you enjoy. If you meta chase, chances are you aren't going to be as good at that class if you don't thoroughly enjoy it than one you do. Since you mentioned Brawler, as @TYoung11 said, you can spend 65k gold on Growing Fury's skill advancement to toggle between DPS and Tank. Just make sure you queue for the right one if you IM while having the skill advancement.

If you want to take a gander at what classes generally outperform others in a "top player" scenario, you can use this website. An example of how you can use it, here's a link to how all classes fare against the boss in Forbidden Arena. You can do this with any current dungeon, and see the player, server, and class for each ranking. Again, I must stress that this still comes down to how good you are at a class, but there is a definite divide between what classes can accomplish at the highest end.

Tank wise, Lancer and Warrior have shared some arguments in being the "best". Lancer gives a high intensity, but lower duration buff for the party. Whereas, Warrior gives a permanent buff that has a lower intensity than Lancer's. It just comes down to preference. On the other hand, Brawler falls short as it has less to offer than these two classes. Lastly, Berserker is a meme, and people don't want to run with a Zerk 99.99% of the time, unless they're messing around. The only thing zerk tank can do is have a high aggro gen (which Lancer and Warrior can already do).

"Just pick what you want" is the cringiest response to this question that is given on almost every game. They wan't to know the best class, not some limpdick response. If they are bad at it they will figure it out themselves. It makes me cringe so hard whhen people respond with that weakwristed response.

Did you ever consider the reason people say that is because there is no solid answer? What is "best" is largely subjective. Even if you argue "class A" is the best right now, it is subject to change any patch. As such I find it to be in poor taste to recommend anything because it is currently "the best."

Either way it's less than half as cringy as all of your half baked comments and criticisms scattered throughout the forums. Thank you, and have a nice Day C:

Cringe bro. Your attempt at debunking me only proved your inability to understand what I said. Step your game up. You're looking weak.

some dumb stuff

Yikes dude. Who the hell pissed in your cereal to the point you feel like lashing out against pretty much everyone in the forums at this point? Is this some sort of ego trip? Trash-talking on a public forum?

Get a hold of yourself.

Anyway, I think the original point was answered before it derailed into this tangent, so let's just leave it at that.
