TERA PC - General Discussion: solutions to shorehold kicking

there are several things that could solve this issue 1 they could have 2 shoreholds 1 for elitist players 1 for regs where kick is disabled. 2 they could simply enable the forming of parties so people could enter the same party and thus not have to kick random players. 2 options to 1 [filtered] problem that has gone on since before shorehold existed granted its mostly dead but when shorehold is populated regular players would like a chance to play to without discrimination based on there record or gear because after all any player is allowed to enter shorehold regardless lol.

  1. Require the proper pvp gear. 2. Don't show pvp stats in the player's profile. 3. No pvp ranks on leaderboads. 4. Limiting the amount of kicks players can initiate each day. 5. Fix reporting system so people afking can be reported and banned from pvping. If they let people form their own parties, you'd have a totally OP party constantly winning. IMO not letting people party at all would be better. Make pvp fun like Kumas once was before they made all of the changes to it. Only reason they had to make it 5v5 was because they blocked level 65s from playing with lower levels.

They could apply the same as Gridiron. Change names for numbers in that match.

I still against kicks because that alone is a way players have been abusing on other BGs to force draws or win a match kicking a player to get their friend with them in the same team. All the most popular PvP games based on BGs dont allow kick players and they have their profesional competitions and players.

Point 1 should be a must. Poit 2 and 3 are needed for pvpers. Point 4 should be removed. Point 5 is a must.

  1. Would love if they just made base or +3 default. Wouldn't want the PvP gear to be completely removed. Otherwise there would be no point on using it like that one time with Conflate(I think it was around this time?).
  2. I'd be down with that. I don't check it anyways. I just go with the mentality of if you're someone I don't know and have the gear I ain't kicking you eve. If you're in PvE or have notice you just don't do anything or even try then I'm gonna click on Yes if someone initiates the vote. But hey I'm not everyone. Might be in the minority.
  3. Also would be ok with loosing this tho I can see why some seek competition as it's their thrill in the game. I see this being a 50/50 good or bad thing.
  4. Feels like that would get abused by people hoping on their alts to force others to use their kicks then BM on their mains. Though I feel the average TERA player wouldn't go that far. :)
  5. Banning might be a bit too much. Maybe temporary suspension. Never know what's going on on their side.

Can you even que SH in party? Only thing I know that happens is sync ques.

Yeah, I just put the basics. Obviously, not many would support banning anyone from pvp for afking one or two games. Not sure the limits and such, just a general idea to fix the reporting system and ban anyone that is a habitual offender.

Maybe if the reporting feature was working properly and action taken, the kick feature could be removed. However, banning offenders is severely delayed, so even allowing people one kick a day would help. As we all know, people like to ruin stuff, so you'd always have that one player being afk or not following the rules etc. Only having the ban system would allow them to get away with stuff all day sometimes.

Yes, a numbers system would be so nice to. That way, people wouldn't be targeted outside of the game or flamed on global. Again, an in game reporting system would be good to go with that.

No, I wasn't saying PVP gear should be removed. I think requiring the proper minimum gear for each battleground is important. Obviously, gear wouldn't be an issue in most PVP games that equalize everyone. However, sometimes, the pvp gear is really important. Just an idea.

It's there right to kick whomever they want to if they decide that as a unified majority group-vote. If it's a function in the game than it's there right to use it. The only exception is if your a Mystic, don't use thrall of wrath in 3v3 it's considered bannable for a reason.

tbh some people just accept regardless of checking gear in shorehold. Shorehold would be far less toxic if people didn't kick for no reason / randomly. Like yesterday I saw someone in full +9 get kicked and no one said anything when asked why shrugs

also ive seen people kick "because they dont recognize the name" and in a way ive given up on shorehold, even though i have 3 +9s now and honeslty I quite miss FWC and wish they would do something about the kicks

Because some one has a grudge against the +9 or hes known as a p2w trap. Gear doesn't mean anything if you are the laughing stock of the server.

not just that either, ive seen actual good players get kicked too. I'd really just rather play for fun in shorehold so I don't particularly care for alot of the elitism that happens in it and the pvp playerbase is pretty small (even a smaller amount of those people que shorehold) so its almost always the same people queing (from manifest, treehouse, yakuza, etc)

in a way thats why I miss FWC, it was a bit less toxic but it was less concentrated than shorehold and took more people to kick. Im pretty sure its against the rules to call out peoples names on the forums but ive noticed some of the same people who qued FWC and kicked people for "being traps" que SH too...and for the most part they aren't very good themselves (relatively speaking). For me i would be happy though if people just didn't kick at all (unless the person was an obvious troll and came in with something like guardian gear, and even then I would rather explain pvp gear to them instead of kicking)

Also do want to add that when I do SH for a few hours, most of the kicks against players do come from certain people in manifest. Players like Polaris and alot of the older players are pretty cool, but ive noticed that most of the kicks come from a certain few in that guild (who do shorehold often). So i'm not calling out manifest as a whole for kicking people, but only a certain few from manifest that are overly elitist and "kick on sight"

A major problem with FWC were the sync ques, people still do it, but without being able to pre-form a party it's a bit harder. I would say yes for requiring the proper pvp gear, but +6 still gets kicked in SH often, so its quite a difficult situation. I think there are alot of people who like ranking on leaderboards, but even if leaderboards were taken away, people would still kick unfortunately and that just ruins the fun for other players who want to play in uneq pvp

This is the reason why nothing changes, because you complain about kicking yet don't want anything changed to prevent the kicking. I guess if there is really nothing to be done, then, BHS should simply do nothing.

Simply not allowing any kicking whatsoever is a silly idea, because people will just constantly AFK or bot. You're just replacing one problem with another. However, if people are limited on kicking, they won't waste it on people in +6 gear. Whatever though. Kind of tired even discussing this topic as it just keeps coming up over and over again. However, any type of solutions are always quashed right away, so what's the point?

I would support limiting the kicks to maybe 3 or 4 (per day). If the community could understand that there are alot of people who want to try pvp but do not want to be kicked and could do something to welcome new people to PVP (i.e. be kind and welcoming and not toxic) then more people will queue and it will become active.

Just have a gm observe pvp matches and when some one kicks without a valid reason give him a few days ban that will make them think twice before doing it again.

TERA PC - General Discussion#15 Enishii10/01/2019, 03:08 PM

get gud at pvp, get so good that nobody will even think of kicking you. Thats the solution

What if you can't get good? Not everyone can be mlg tier pvp player like not everyone can reach GM in LoL but always stay gold/plat no matter how long they play.

Pvp has been dead for a week outside of 3s. The issue is that the community was already pretty small and if you kick people from shorehold who just want to try it and might like it, then they won't que it and the pvp community won't grow. Same if you kick people because they "aren't good" they will simply avoid queing, hence you have dead battlegrounds. If you want Shorehold (or any PVP) to be active, then you need to be willing to accept that not everyone will be "great" at PVP and you need to be willing to play regardless. There's alot of people who just want to play for fun, but don't want to que because they don't want to be kicked

Look at it from this perspective as well, lets say you have someone que grid / CS and they work hard and finally get that +6 pvp set and they're excited to que shorehold. Shorehold pops and the people in the raid says "that guy is terrible, kick him!" and it keeps happening over and over again. Do you believe that person will come back to shorehold? Situations like that leads to people leaving PVP and especially shorehold (since way more kicks happen there than CS or Grid)
