I just want to say hello and a few little things. First, the community can be...very demanding as well as very trollish, and sometimes just down right not very nice, so brace yourself for that and try not to get too offended. Secondly, there have been quite a few miscommunications as well as some lack of communication and I do hope you can help improve on these things.

Anyways, welcome!


I rarely ever get offended by what people say. I know a lot of people can get super passionate and they're speaking from a point of frustration or unhappiness. So I don't take it personally. I do want to make sure communications are clear and that we're approachable and kind.

Thanks! I know I'm stepping into some big streaming shoes. At my other gigs, I was more used to producing streams, instead of being on-screen. I've got lots of plans and ideas and look forward to community feedback.

Howdy!

I hope I wasn't too dorky on the stream. I imagine it will get better the longer I am here, the more I get to know the game, and all of you in the community.

As an aside, my role is Community Manager Team Lead. I'll be managing the community efforts from a much higher level, while also doing many duties that Tonka and Minea have been doing, as we build out the Community Team.

Much like the reddit AMA, I'm happy to answer questions here (as long as they're not about the game as of yet). It was great to see so much chatter in the Twitch stream chat!
I guess I gotta get my breakfast game up. :D

Hey everyone, we've been keeping an eye on this issue and can confirm that most players have received (or are still receiving) their catalysts. Our support team can help if you're not receiving yours, but please do verify the following first:

1) log out of TERA, close the launcher, re-open the launcher and launch the game. Give the catalysts a few minutes to arrive.

2) make sure you're logging in before 11:59 p.m. PDT tonight (everyone already in the thread should be covered there, but that's just about 6 hours from now).

If you still haven't received your catalysts, then contact support and the GMs can help you. Be sure to let them know it was the third hunt's 3 catalysts that you didn't receive!

Sidenote: You know what would be super awesome? If a CM shows up tomorrow and says "sorry, guys, we can no longer verify that you didn't receive the calaysts as opposed to simply not redeeming them in time".


As long as you have logged in during the eligible window (until 11:59 p.m. PDT tonight) our support team will be able to verify this and assist you with receiving the catalysts, even if you do not contact them until after the eligible window. However, since the event is ending soon you don't want to wait too long.

Hey everyone, we've been monitoring this and have verified that the catalysts are still going out and they have been redeemed in great numbers, so the fact that you are not receiving yours after logging in (and also after fully restarting the game including the TERA launcher) is very odd.

If you have not received your 3 log-in reward catalysts for the most recent head hunt please contact the support team directly and the GMs will be able to assist you.

Treeshark here to talk about recent changes to the TERA Team.

Obviously, all of us were saddened over the past few months to see both Tonka and Minea leave the TERA community team. Both had worked long and hard to make players feel welcome, informed, involved, and cared about. Their departures, while understandable on a personal level because both left to follow exciting new opportunities, left a hole in our hearts as well as on the team.

After an exhaustive search, today we are happy to announce that we have hired a new community manager team lead to help fill that hole. So, allow me to introduce you all to Donna “Danicia” Prior, who has helped manage gaming communities for both tabletop and video games for over a decade. Donna cut her MMO teeth at Flying Lab Software on Pirates of the Burning Sea and has also worked on Star Wars: The Old Republic, Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising, Guild Wars 2, and numerous games from Sony Online Entertainment such as PlanetSide 2. She’s also active in game industry events, speaking at PAX, PAX Dev, GDC, and her own “analog” game convention, OrcaCon.

Danicia is new to TERA, however, so don’t expect her to know too much about Darkan’s donut just yet. But I’m sure she’d be more than happy to talk to players about leveling up quickly, which class is the best (I know you all have opinions on that one), and the new Stepstone Isle experience.

While she may not be a TERA expert just yet, we are all very excited about adding Danicia’s incredible community expertise to the TERA Team, the core of which is still intact. Harmonia and I are dedicated to maintaining continuity with the community, as we have done for years. I’ve been here since the beginning and Harmonia (or, as you may know her, @TERAonline or “Mystery Facebook Admin”) joined the TERA Team in 2010 as an early game tester and has spent the last five years supporting TERA players in-game, on the forums, and on social media.

Plus, as I mentioned in my September letter, we also added Denommenator as a senior producer on TERA this year. Denommenator has been an En Massian since 2012, and has worked behind the scenes on TERA, ZMR, and other titles before officially coming to TERA.

In addition to the community and production people dedicated to TERA, En Masse also added a director of product management for the game this year. Chris Lye joined En Masse in May to provide marketing support to the TERA Team, almost immediately cutting his teeth on the Go Berserk update.

Chris brings a wealth of RPG and MMO knowledge to the team having worked on Dungeon Siege, Asheron's Call, and Jade Empire while at Microsoft. He then took a year off to lead a raiding guild in World of Warcraft before being recruited by ArenaNet to market Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2. Chris is playing a Baraka warrior on Highwatch, so maybe he’ll tank for you sometime, although I keep telling him warriors should DPS.

So, while we will all miss Tonka and Minea, I am here to tell you that TEAM TERA is as strong as ever and we're looking forward to some great things coming up in the next few months, including our annual Extra Life Twitch stream and a major content update that will unveil TERA’s newest class after a month of promotions and in-game events!

The priority order for support tickets is from when the ticket is first submitted, not when it's updated. If you have newer information to provide, you can update the support ticket and you'll still have your original place in line.

For the second weekend in a row, TERA players rose to Kyra's challenge and obliterated monsters by the thousands. The results of the weekend Halloween Headhunt are in! Plus, Kyra has added a bevy of new prizes for the final full of week of the event. Check it all out below.

Headhunt Results
Don't ever let anyone say that TERA players don't know how to kill monsters...in the face! This weekend, the TERA community bashed enough monster brains before the Sunday midnight deadline to complete three of Kyra’s six challenges, so all players who logged in during the event will find three catalysts in their Item Claim if they log in before Tuesday, October 27 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.

First off, I've been waiting for this since the start of October, and I'm really glad that Nurses/Police are on emp store! So thank you ~

But I have a doubt. I was told, this item "Pink Ribbon" http://puu.sh/kYzoT/a851a64726.jpg was part of the Halloween and it came with Nurses/Police, so I went to check emp store for it, but is nowhere. It's intentionally or just forgot to add it? >.


Since it wasn't explicitly in the police or nurse set, I missed this item. You are indeed correct though, it was sold as part of the Halloween line-up last year.

It's unfortunately too late to add this to the potion shack, but I have re-added it to the store. It will appear in the in-game store following maintenance tomorrow. The last two weeks have been fairly hectic, with some issues driving higher than normal support traffic our way. Our current response time on tickets is at 5 days, but we are working hard to bring that number down as quickly as we possibly can. We really appreciate everyone's patience.

Also, as a reminder, please, please, please avoid contacting any of the gold sellers that you may see spam chat in the game. These are not legitimate businesses. They are using stolen credit cards to obtain EMP that they then pass along to you. If you provide them your card number, you may as well consider it compromised as well. We are taking action to block the gold sellers and ban their accounts, but we are also taking action against accounts that purchase the gold from them. It is just not worth it.

Kyra’s Potion Shack is Back!
The in-game Halloween festivities will continue through November 5! We'll have a new Headhunt available on Monday, as well as updated event prizes and some old favorites returning to the TERA store.

For the latest information on the current Halloween Headhunt, follow this thread. The current set of headhunts will conclude at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday and include the targets listed below.

Update on Dungeon Drops
On Tuesday we made the first in a series of end game dungeon drop changes by increasing the drop rate of Inferno Ore in VoK, Timescape, AI, and Shattered Fleet. There will be additional changes on the way in the coming weeks and months. Next week's changes will include the following:

Timescape
- Yana will drop t7 feedstock in place of t6 feedstock (NM/HM)
- Yana has an increased chance to drop masterwork alkahest in greater quantities (NM/HM)
- Yana will drop more Dyad Niveot Structures (HM only)

VoK
- Kaprima Reborn will drop t7 feedstock in place of t6 feedstock
- Kaprima Reborn has an increased chance to drop MES in greater quantities

Akeron's Inferno
- Duras will drop t7 feedstock in place of t6 feedstock (NM/HM)

Shattered Fleet
- Barbosa will drop t7 feedstock in place of t6 feedstock

Have you contacted our support team for help? They're on hand to assist with tech issues. Without a more specific idea of the error you're getting (like an error number) it will be very difficult for anyone to help you here on the forums.

One thing you can try, though, is a clean boot. This will minimize the number of running programs and might help you load the game, or even generate an error message so we can get you the right FAQ.

Another set of targets bites the dust! The second round of Kyra's Halloween Headhunts is complete and we have the results for you!
Headhunt Results

Once again, TERA players did what they do best—kill monsters by the thousands! Specifically, players killed enough “spooky” monsters on Kyra's bounty list before the Wednesday midnight deadline to complete four of this week's Halloween Headhunts. All players who logged in during the event will now find four catalysts in their Item Claim as a reward. Players must log in before Friday, October 23 at 11:59 p.m. PDT to claim their catalysts, however.

But the hunt still isn’t over. Kyra has a new set of targets for this weekend! Remember, only kills made by players within five levels of the target count, so if you have lower-level alts, you can add to the kill count and help make sure the TERA community gets the maximum amount of catalyst rewards next Monday.


Kyra’s third hunt will last until October 25 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. Check back October 26 for the results of the weekend hunt and a new set of headhunts as well as brand new prizes for next week!

Thanks, this is great feedback! I want to provide a bit of extra context around the type of updates we will provide for this event. We know how important status updates are in helping everyone prioritize their targets and how each hunt is going.

We'll be providing updates regularly, but generally not precise numbers on the first day. The information we use, while accurate, is not up-to-the-minute current (it lags behind where the *actual* progress is). That's why we take a look at the numbers and give a rough forecast for how it looks to start.

Today when we get updated information we'll have more accurate estimates to share (and possibly one or two marks to cross off entirely!).

We may be able to provide something more concrete, like "50,000 to go" but we won't know until we see the data.

TL:DR, the closer we get to the end of a hunt, the more detailed the information will be.

Headhunt #2: We're making great progress! The Blood Lords and Eldritch Defenders are nearing their goal, and the Ossugon Legates are not far behind! It's going to be a fierce battle to reach that Naga Battlemaster goal, though, so don't let up!



Headhunt #1: We succeeded in 4/6 goals! Claim your 4 catalyst reward by logging in to TERA before 11:59 PDT on October 20 (note: this reward will be delivered to your in-game Item Claim).

Hi MrNipple, if you contact the support team GMs can assist you with transferring one of those items to another character while the developer looks into this issue. We do care, and appreciate the bugs that the community takes the time to provide us with here in the forums!

Though there is not always an official comment or update on an individual thread, these bugs get filed and passed to the developer for review.

Hey everyone!

If you have a catalyst "stuck" in your mail that you can't claim (or any catalyst stuck in your inventory that you cannot use) please contact the support team. The GMs can assist you with resolving this issue!

Just be sure to clarify what character/server the catalyst is on and where it's stuck (in parcel, in your bank, etc)
Hey SevXone,

Have you check your graphics drivers since upgrading to Windows 10? That may provide some improvement.

There is also a known issue with this patch with the aerial settings in the game. You should go into video options and turn your aerial slider down and see if that also helps for now.

Well to be fair the new kill targets are much more doable. 150k nagas will probably be completed by the end of today. Blood lords also ez since many people are leveling chars right now and they're in SM. It's good that the 50's and 60's targets are low because hardly anybody does open world in those areas especially now with XP buffs to dungeons..

Just think of it as an added bonus that you probably shouldn't expect to get but be happy if it does. Let's not start all screaming because we didn't get more "free stuff" than we wanted. Before it was pretty unrealistic to get those counts and honestly I'm not even convinced they were met.

I probably won't be buying anymore catalyst though because they've added more costume prizes to the pool without removing the others thereby reducing the chances of scoring a jackpot.

It would be cool if you guys removed the non-jackpot rewards from last week so that their prices will go back up while still keeping the jackpot chance the same. Correct me if I'm wrong pls.


The way the drops were structured, the jackpots will retain the same rates throughout the event. A certain percentage was assigned to cosmetics as a group and as more are added we're just adjusting the rates within that group, if that makes sense.
Dungeons are intended as the primary means of getting catalysts for higher level players.

This part of the event was intended to provide leveling players some additional means of acquiring catalysts.


Kyra called and the community responded! The first round of Halloween Headhunts may have started a bit bumpy, but they’re over now and the results are in!

Headhunt Results
TERA players killed hordes of spooky monsters before the Sunday midnight deadline, completing four of Kyra’s six challenges. So all players who logged in during the event will find four of Kyra’s catalysts in their Item Claim if they log in before Tuesday, October 20 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.

Yeah, the lack of immediate feedback regarding the community's progress is a bummer. During the week we should be able to provide daily updates, but it's tougher to provide them on weekends.

High-level players did particularly well, beating the targets by a wide margin. As UdonPasta above guessed, lower-level players struggled a bit, but I probably made the goals a bit too high.

If you're curious about how we set the goals, there is a bit of science involved. We look at average daily kill counts for mobs in different level ranges then set the goals accordingly.
I hope so! We are working on some possible plans for this and I hope we'll have some information to share in next week's Stuff of the Week.

Kyra’s Potion Shack is Back!
Halloween has finally arrived in TERA! We’re excited to have Kyra’s Potion Shack returning for October, but there were a few issues that came up after Thursday’s Maintenance. If you participated in the potion shack between maintenance Thursday morning and Friday morning, you earned stacks of catalysts. These stacked catalysts proved problematic, and we have gone back to individual catalysts as a result.

However, no one is going to lose any catalysts in this change – just use your stack of catalysts to consume it. You’ll see that you have only earned 1 catalyst and lost the full stack, but the remainder of your stack was already added to your catalyst balance by us this afternoon.

We’re already through our first day of Halloween Headhunt bounties, which will conclude at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. We’ve reached the target for Dark Thrallmaster, but have a long road ahead of us for the other bounties. Get out there and get head hunting!



Update on Dungeon Drops
We have been working with Bluehole on this, and dungeon drops will have changes beginning next week. We will be starting with VoK, Timescape HM and NM, AI NM and HM, and Shattered Fleet. These beginning changes will focus on increasing the rate and chance of Inferno Ore.

Technical Issue Progress
This week’s patch brought decreased performance for some players who are experiencing higher than normal lag in some scenarios. This change seems to result from the sun/sky textures. We are working directly with Bluehole to identify what changes in the patch may have caused this setting to suddenly have such a negative impact on the game’s performance. The improvements we’ve recently made to diagnostic data collection (announced previously in the Stuff of the week) will be very helpful in identifying the root cause.

In the meantime, anyone who believes they may be affected by this issue can turn down their “aerial” setting in video options to reduce the impact.

Fashion Coupon Store
We’re aware that the Idoneal Hauberk for gunners has recently been removed from the fashion coupon store, and know that the Nightforge Weaponskins are a long desired request from the community. We’re working on getting these items into the Fashion Coupon Store, and are also planning an update for the Federation Bill Shop. Look for these after Halloween!

Community Designed Costume!
Just a reminder and clarification that the community designed "Gothic Rapture" costume set will be available on October 29 for Halloween. We’re very excited to see these costumes in-game :)

I had 29 catalysts listed on broker today before mainteance. After this I tried to remove them and all dissapeared...

Please check your catalyst balance in the welcome window. I checked your account and you should now have them (it looks like you're already using them so you might already know this).

Yes, you can use the costume/mount/skin on any character.

The pack does not include a weapon skin for the brawler though, unfortunately.

We've also delivered catalysts to those players that listed their catalysts on the broker yesterday then de-listed them today (resulting in the catalysts disappearing).

Yes, the items can be used on any character and none of the items can be traded because they are bound to your account.

The Elite Status Voucher can be re-sold though.

I have a stack of ~100 catalysts in the inventory before maintenance. It's still there post-maintenance, I can't use it, can't bank it. It's still 100 stack, and nothing was added to my balance. I need some help to sort this out.


I just checked your account as well and you should have 106 catalysts in your potion shack balance. Please close the welcome window and re-open it to check if your balance is updated, If not, try closing the game and the launcher and re-logging to see if that updates your balance.
You will get the items, no loot boxes.

I had 160 Catalyst, and they are gone now, after using 1. Ive sent a ticket, and I expect EME to sort it out as soon as possible. I am not too fuzzy generally, but this is really annoying. Hoping for the best though as always.

Ok so I received the catalysts I used when I initially logged in. However, I still had a stack of 13 that I didn't use when I realized they weren't counting. So I used them. And only 1 was added. Problem still there.


This will continue to occur for any stacks existing in player's inventories. We delivered an amount of catalysts equivalent to the stack in your inventory.

Check your catalyst balance in the welcome window, it should be updated.
UPDATE on 10/16 @ 2:41 p.m. PDT

We have re-delivered catalysts to everyone in possession of stacks prior to this morning's maintenance. You should now have the correct amount in your potion shack balance.

We have also removed all listed catalysts on the broker and delivered the sellers their asking price.

We are in the process of delivering catalysts to those players that purchased unusable catalysts off the broker today.

Finally, we're going to look into delivering catalysts to those players that listed their catalysts on the broker yesterday then de-listed them today (resulting in the catalysts disappearing). I'll reply when this is complete.

Yes, the system and catalysts are currently working as intended.

We're just trying to get people that had stacks prior to maintenance the catalysts that they earned yesterday.

You can continue leveling without worry. You'll receive working catalysts to your parcel when you hit the level milestones.

That was taken after maintenance, without using any potions. Unless you meant one player claiming it impacted everyone, then the "However, it appears that redemption of the stack is removing the catalysts that we added to player balances by us this morning, which was not intended. " line is incorrect.


I'm looking for someone who had a stack in inventory and did not use it post-maintenance. We're trying to see if the catalysts were added to your balance before a stack was redeemed.
We are aware of three issues impacting players relating to the potion shack event and are working to resolve them:

1) Some players had stacks of unusable catalysts in their inventories/banks prior to maintenance today. Following maintenance, we delivered an amount equivalent to the player's stack count to their balance in the potion shack window.

Players are reporting that when redeeming the stack, only one is added to the potion shack balance. This is intended.

However, it appears that redemption of the stack is removing the catalysts that we added to player balances by us this morning, which was not intended.

We are working to resolve this and will make sure that the players that lost catalysts have them returned. We have a list of players that possessed stacks of catalysts prior to maintenance, so we'll figure it out, it just may take some time. We appreciate your patience while we sort this out.

2) Players That Earned Catalysts from Leveling Cannot Remove Them From Parcel

We'll send out replacement catalysts to this group once we resolve issue #1 above.

3) Catalysts Purchased Off the Broker Cannot Be Used

Following maintenance today, catalysts purchased off the broker are rendered unusable. To deal with this, En Masse is purchasing any catalysts listed at a price of 3,000 per unit. This is the quickest and easiest way to remove these broken listings from circulation.

We are proceeding with this now.

Any listings above 3,000 per unit will be removed and the seller will have their catalysts returned to them.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we sort this out. Again, if you lost catalysts today, we'll get them back to you. It may just take some time.
Please look for an upcoming post from the production team on the known issues with Catalysts. For the time being, yes, it is best not to buy them from or post them to the trade broker.

Good morning (or afternoon!) all,

This sounds like the issue that has been adversely affecting international TERA players recently, and in our past investigations it has been the result of regional ISP issues. This is why clusters of players from southern Mexico and certain parts of Europe have been experiencing these access issues in small groups over the past few weeks.

This is a difficult problem to resolve because it's generally not an issue with your computer that can be resolved by troubleshooting, or our servers which can be resolved by action on our part. But the situation is not without hope!

If you are unable to reach our support site or game servers on your computer, please try on your mobile device with your wifi turned off. This should help us identify if the network is the issue.

Some players, once identifying that their ISP is routing them so poorly that they can't reach our servers and support site, work to change that route by using various tools. Think of this like driving around road construction to get to your destination.

Other players have been waiting out the issues and find that after some hours the situation resolves itself. Reaching out to your ISP to let them know about the problem may expedite this, or help you get an estimate on how long the situation may continue.

We've also written a lengthy FAQ that helps players understand these types of issues, and also explains how to run some tests to determine where your problem is, where your route to our servers is going wrong. I recommend reviewing this FAQ and running the suggested tests.
@FoxyAman, the remainder of your catalysts were applied to your account during maintenance. This goes for all players redeeming catalysts that were previously in a stack.
