Greetings all!

The Community Team will be hosting a BAMs & Bosses event on Friday, Jan 22 starting at 3:00 p.m. We took a bunch of your requests for the BAMs you'd like to see, and sent a list to Production. We also put up a Straw Poll earlier today, to see which server kicks off the event on our Twitch stream. Ascension Valley beat out Mount Tyrannas, so you'll find the GMs and I there first!

Here's the BAMs & Bosses Schedule:

3:00pm – 3:30pm: AV
3:30pm – 4:00pm: MT and TR
4:00pm – 4:30pm: VoT and CH
4:30pm – 5:00pm: HW and LoT

We'll be sending out alerts on the servers so you know where to go.

Double dungeon drops are back!

Starting Friday, January 22 at 10 a.m. PST, and continuing until Monday, January 25 at 10 a.m. PST, you’ll get double the treasure from the following dungeons:
- Forsaken Island
- Kalivan's Dreadnaught (Hard)
- Sky Cruiser Endeavor (Hard)
- Bathysmal Rise (Hard)
- Timescape (Hard)
- Sinestral Manor
- Golden Labyrinth
- Cultist’s Refuge
- Vault of Allies

The double-drop event won’t be around for long...so find yourself a group, get into those dungeons, and grab all the loot you can!
We've sent the list to Production and Harmonia is working to get the final list together with them. We're putting together the scheduled today, and we'll let you know when they will appear on each server.

For the Livestream at 3pm, which server should we show on the stream? Hit up this quick poll!

These people have jobs, and if I saw right, Denommenator was up posting at something like 9PM or later the other night, so some of them are putting in some serious overtime right now trying to get things done.

This is correct. He was on a late night (for us) call with BHS. He's working on numerous things right now, to get answers to not only this thread, but other requests/concerns.

Once he's investigated them all and can write them up, he'll have responses, or will give them to us to share with you. It does take time, because he has to loop in Ops/Platform/QA/Support/Community and everyone else.

Thanks for everyone's patience & understanding.
Hello all,

The feedback on the thread (and others) was given to Production. Denommenator will have more information today.
Thanks for sharing the vid. The costume we put up was the only brawler "fashion" in our current build, unfortunately. I'm looking into the rest (those showcased in the video).
Brawler saw a 20% decrease in overall PvP damage in the Korean version.

We are exploring getting these class changes into our version sooner than later and I hope to have an update to share with the community shortly.
Yes, LoliDolly is correct. You need to contact Support. They will be the only people who can assist with a Billing issue.

I hope whoever it is you talk to about this is willing to listen, because a lot of us would rather not have to wear sunglasses in order to keep posting on the site.

Oh, everyone's willing to listen. :) It's just that I don't know the technical aspects and it is something I will be requesting from the creative team. Since this is new software, it just means they all have to dig into it to see what we can do. We're meeting today, so I'll be able to give them everyone's feedback and make all the requests I want.
Good morning everyone!

This issue was resolved and we've verified that server transfers are once again available. Please let us know if this or any other issue crops up today with server transfers.
I saw a flurry of email about the issue this morning; it looks like they are back on-line.
Our developers continue to investigate. We'll report back with any progress.
We're looking into this now, I see the same issue when trying to transfer my own character. For now, please stay tuned for updates!
Funny enough, I created a thread about it right here!
I will check into the feasibility of choosing a scheme. No promises, but I will bring it up in that meeting.
Moved to the Off-Topic forum.

Any news for the new forums??

I think that the #marchgate uproar stole the thunder from this matter.
And we need something to distract us.

The end of the month is coming. 12 more days. Do you have anything for us?
Any update? You getting closer to release them? Any ETA?

I am one of those that still remember the promise treeshark gave us more than 1 year ago.
#neverforget

I'm currently doing some basic set up for features. I'm meeting with Ops/Platform/Creative Services to work on the backend stuff and making it super pretty.

I'm doing things like setting up the updated rules, posting guidelines, moderator scheduling, naughty word filter, and determining which forums we will create. As example, we have WAY too many sub-forums which don't get used. I'd like to knock these down quite a bit, so everyone can be sure to post in the correct place.

As an aside, there will not be a downvote option. :)
We do not currently have an update on heartbeats from BHS. Once we have it, Denom will give you an update.

Regarding events, we've had requests for BAM events during our streams and via the Community mailbox. Those are much easier community team events for us to pull off with the help of Support.

The other events require much more work and planning to pull off. And just because we aren't announcing other events, doesn't mean we're not planning them. :)

Welcome back from the long weekend EME,

I know you were looking into adding heartbeats to a drop table, can we have an update on this soon?

Thanks, it's good to be back!

Denom will have more information after a call with BHS. No real update as of yet. We'll let you know!

Any of the above-mentioned will do, though I wanted to mention two quick poinnts:

1) Whatever it is, if possible it would need to have its stats buffed up. Part of the fun of these kinds of things is to see a half dozen people just get nuked, but you have so many other people around that it keeps going. (And no, that's not just the healer in me that wants to have a job :-P )

2) When GMs used to spawn Sovereigns occasionally, afterwards, anyone who participated got a mail with a small loot box. Participating is fun and all, but having some kind of reward (even if it's a joke prize like a CCB, with a message "hope you used one") makes it much better.

Ooh, thanks for that feedback!

Nightmare versions of:
Darkan
Shandra Manaya
Meltida
Lokmar Sorgular

Please :D

Also wouldn't mind if you spawned all of them in the same area at the same time. >:D

That would be equal parts dreadful and amazing at the same time.
Howdy all!

We're looking at hosting a BAM Event across all servers this Friday. While we're in the planning stages, tell us what BAMs you'd like to see. We'll have more details on the event later this week.

What would you like to see?
Watts1234 on 01/17/2016, 02:24 PM - view
I agree completely, while events like the potion shop are nice I would love to see more little things like BAM spawning or have GMs be more active in game. Its a shame I missed it but i'm extremely happy to see this happened, thank you Cobalt.

If your going to do Manaya I wanna be there!

Manaya, you say?

I'm compiling a list. For Friday. :)

Just a small note here; the brawler fashions seem to have missing item names.

They appear correctly for me. Are they missing names in your inventory or in the fashion coupon store?

Not Saturday, Friday. I'll follow up next week with more details, but you really should let me know your favorite BAMs. :)

This week's review will be a bit shorter than usual, as this week has been all about the 2016 Producer Letters and the content covered (and not covered) in these two major pieces of communication.

What Happened to Stuff of the Week?
Last week we gave the old "Stuff of the Week" a new name to better reflect the content within the post. The older format of "Stuff of the Week" left us often telling the community "soon" for changes, updates, patches, and other vital information. In this format we were often promising changes before they were finalized or too long before they would be available to players which lead to disappointment and frustration. "Stuff of the Week" has slowly been changing in an effort to eliminate this negative experience and focus on collecting the most up-to-date and important information for the community.

We know that actions speak louder than words, so we've been working behind the scenes on a number of items to roll out over upcoming weekly maintenances to show our dedication to delivering on player feedback rather than simply expressing it with promises. However, we didn't tell the community about this shift, and this has led to an appearance of En Masse not listening to recent community concerns and created frustration of its own.

While we are working to improve our overall communication with the community, the format for the Week in Review may shift. Outside of "Week in Review", here's what to expect going forward:

- You'll be seeing more frequent communication from TERA production staff throughout the week in response to community concerns and feedback.
- Patch notes will more regularly accompany weekly maintenance so players are aware of bug fixes, changes, and known issues. Our goal is to have these posted by 4:00 p.m. PST on the day before maintenance, so generally Monday afternoon.
- TERA news posts will contain forum links, leading to the official discussion where you can ask questions or talk to the team directly about the content.

The information listed above will be collected into this post on Fridays. If you are here on the forums every day, or follow En Masse staff posts through the TERA dev tracker, you may find these weekly posts to be repetitious. The goal is to collect key information so it's easier to stay up-to-date if you don't have much time to read the forums. Tell us in the comments below what sort of other content and communication you would like to see!

What to Expect Next Week
Next week is a 4-day week for most of the team here at En Masse Entertainment in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

- Our support team will still be working, and their current response time is roughly 7 days.
- Maintenance will occur as regularly scheduled, from 7-9 a.m. PST on Tuesday. Patch notes are available here and will be posted formally on Tuesday.
- We're planning a fun community livestream for 3:00 p.m. PST on Friday, so stay tuned for details!

We did not change the class requirements.
Hey all,

As Harmonia will explain in her "Week in Review" to be posted momentarily, we won't be in the office on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

That said, we have a patch ready to be rolled out during maintenance on Tuesday and since it's all ready to go, I thought I'd share the patch notes with you now:

Changes:
• Updated contents of Federation Bill store.
• Updated contents of Fashion Coupon store.
• Adjusted Fraywind Canyon and Corsairs’ Stronghold match-matching rules for faster queues.
• Increased channels in Northern Arun to 10.

Bug Fixes:
• Fixed contents of Khirian Sorcerer Glyph Box to remove the Past Glyph Shard.
• Fixed effect name for Blazing Cable Step.
• Adjusted the system message when matching without a tank or dps for clarity.

Short, but hopefully meaningful. Please keep in mind this is a draft of the notes and may be subject to change.

The fashion coupon store will get six new Brawler fashions (the leather jacket costume we used in promotional materials around the release of the Knockout update in various colors).

Following deploy of the hotfix we're deploying on January 26, we'll be adding a number of gunner fashions as well. They're in our build currently but unfortunately their duration is wrong and temporary versions just won't do.

The Federation Bill store received a total overhaul, I re-organized the existing items under new categories and added a bunch of new (really, old) accessories (they're new in the fed bill store though).

Ill just add, the biggest fail was Danicia on the camera. Failing to find the action 99% of the time, following the wrong team, overall highlighting the empty landscape of CS.

That was a combined effort of movement. Denom and I traded off, because I was also coordinating OBS, and other software, plus maintaining chat between all the players. I quickly passed it over to Denom for the camera with Malrok guiding him.

Unfortunately, the two people who had the most CS knowledge were out sick today, which would have made for a more compelling watch and commentary. Big props on my side to Denom and Malrok for stepping at the last moment.

This is where the experience of the new incoming CM will be critical to successful streams of a competitive nature.

We're going to discuss the possibility of an interim build containing FIHM with Bluehole. While unlikely, we're going to try our best and fight for it!

WoW i never liked Failforge but even those scrubs maked a good step

Greetings everyone!

After discussions, both internal as well as with the developer, based upon your provided feedback, we've decided to include the ‘Desolarus Heartbeat’ to a few fitting dungeons as a possible loot*.

We've been working on a few events for next week Tuesday - and a short-term solution to the provided issue (FIHM and DS coming in one patch) is to add this item to this event (and keep it thereafter until the patch).

We’ll be further looking into this, but as of now it is not sure if additional changes can be achieved. We hope that the provided solution will help you to achieve your VM6 gear as per your previously made plans, and wish you a great weekend as well as a lot of fun in the upcoming event!

Best regards,
Atmorph

* Please note: since this is an extraordinary addition of a current high-end item, we’ve adjusted the probability to be below the original FIHM drop chance. While we want to make it possible to get the Heartbeat without having to rely on Treasure boxes, it is not our intention to have everyone in VM6 gear by the end of the first week.

How about eme will make the same?

I'm happy to you shared this. We'll look into their solution and see if we can't implement something similar. There were some other good suggestions in this thread that might represent potential solutions as well.

Unfortunately, these won't make Tuesday's maintenance, so we'd see these changes implemented by the 26th at the earliest.
BlinkingSpark on 01/15/2016, 10:31 AM - view
While we truly appreciate the way which you guys are trying to fix the things with the Heartbeat drops and how are you adressing us to hear our opinions, and the little band-aid fix with VG quests in Arx umbra ("That's Aint Right"). There is any word about the class balance changes? because dont think a lot of us can still handling 2 months more of brawlers' rampages, pentakills, 1-2 hits kills and perma aerial lockdown with only pressing a button. until now there isnt any word from you about this issue. please give us an update about this.

The class balance changes are also rolled in the same build, so it will really depend if we can split it out or not.
This thread is amazing. Keep it up!

For long term solution for our communication issue, I suggest reopen "Stuff of the week" with its original purpose: to update and response to player's feedback on the very first post and not just what you're going to do on the next patch. For this position it's best if you can find a CM who is actually playing the game and got update from both in game as well as foreshadow from players who played other version of Tera (like Yosha/Espei/Shumire/...), but if you can't we just need someone who's good at skimming though topics collecting feedbacks. Even if she/he doesn't have a good answer regarding the issue listed, it's better to say "I don't know yet" rather than hide it away. Adding good explanation from players to 1st post would also reduce the amount of repetitive suggestions.

I'll take this one since it's about my team. ;)

You'll all be happy to hear that we're currently interviewing for the TERA CM position. It's a requirement that the candidates are experienced competitive gamers, with PvP/Streaming experience.

We want not just the Community Chats and Play with the Noob, that Harmonia and I have been producing, but really shows featuring PvP, dungeon runs, bring in experienced players to be featured in "Let's Plays". All kinds of things like that.

They will also be experienced with forums and social media, able to do the deep delves into the forums, reddit, and such, to bring the community's concerns to the Production Team.

This will allow me to support my team, to bring them new tools, new Community initiatives (such as Player Council, Player Guide Updates, in-person events such as PAX).

I'm currently working on the new TERA forums, along with other higher level projects. You folks deserve an amazing TERA CM and I am going to bring you one. :)

PS: I'm currently working on a big event for all servers next Friday. I'll see if I can talk about it later today once the team is here at the office. I'm sure they won't mind. :)

One thing, hopefully included into fixes in the future, is that the client optimization for NA Tera is eventually reworked in a way that will allow for smoother FPS on lower-end computer models. I myself have had the fortunate luck to play on JTera (on the same computer I play NA Tera on) when I was in Japan for half of a year. The time that I did get to spend on JTera was extremely pleasurable in terms of running smoother/better on my computer than the NA client does. I'm sure, as almost all the players in the Tera community feel, is that this is one major issue that has been plauging the game from the very beginning and are all having the hope and faith that this will definitely be addressed sometime in the near future.

It's strange that their client would perform better. Definitely something to investigate.

Assuming we don't get the dungeon earlier, are there any plans for hearts before then to help with gear progression? Having all the mats and having nothing to do for two months still is really going to hurt the community, even with this. Regardless of the reason, people will still get bored. At the very least having some way to get the hearts without endlessly opening chests would give some people motivation to keep playing.

In the absence of the dungeon I feel we'll need to address this somehow.

This is exactly how we didn't want to come off with the response. We want to foster an ongoing communication, not "here's a quick response/I'm sorry now get out of our face".

TERA Community,

Wow, what a day! We really screwed up with yesterday’s producer letter. While we anticipated a negative reaction around Forsaken Isle (Hard Mode)’s release date, the backlash we’ve seen on the forums last night and today has been overwhelming. The letter failed to provide any context around the reasons for the delay of this build and that was a communication failure on our part. Worse than that, it failed to approach this sensitive issue in an appropriate tone and gave the impression that we are disconnected with the current community sentiment.

Going forward, this is something we really need to improve. This includes keeping the community more directly in the loop regarding what we’re working and when content is coming. It also means being less vague and generic, as we were in yesterday’s letter. I feel if we can do this better, at the very least you can gain a better understanding of how and why things are happening.

A lot of issues were raised in the fallout of yesterday’s letter, and while we’re going to strive to do better overall, it’s important to know that we are not going to solve all game and communication issues in one day. Instead, we are committed to improving this in a meaningful way over time. This is our goal going forward. With that said, I’d like to provide you some insight into our build publishing process and the reasons surrounding the delay of this specific dungeon and build.

Builds are structured by Bluehole and delivered to EME, at which point EME prepares the build for release. This includes localization, testing, verification of content and features, patch notes, and any promotion we prepare surrounding an update. As it pertains to the build containing FIHM, we anticipated a January release initially given our expectations around the build's contents and the release of the dungeon in other territories. Unfortunately, this is not how this build panned out.

In order to minimize the number of builds they’d need to prepare and to facilitate our internal development of the new in-game store, Bluehole delivered us a build containing the content from several different game versions (FIHM, Dreadspire 2, and the Island of Dawn max-level hunting zone). We raised concerns to Bluehole regarding this build, knowing the issues the community would have with its impact on gear progression and the delays it would cause. Unfortunately, Bluehole is currently undergoing an internal re-organization and was not able to support creation of an additional interim build. While it sucks that Bluehole’s re-org impacted our build schedule, the goal of the re-org is for teams to work more closely on their end which should ultimately benefit TERA’s overall global service.

So, that’s what happened and we should have been more forthcoming about the situation around the build, no matter how grim it was. Here’s what we’re going to do now. Given the community’s passionate response, we’re going to bring this up with Bluehole again. We have no shortage of ammunition. The community’s impassioned response illustrates why this build schedule is not a good idea. While timing is super tight and any change to the schedule is unlikely, we’re going to restart the conversation anyways. At the very least, it will help us to avoid a similar situation happening in the future. I will provide any updates in regard to this build as we receive them.

Yesterday’s producer letter also alluded to some fixes/changes we’ll be deploying over the next few weeks in response to some long-standing community issues. Our inability to address many of these issues has rightfully caused many forum-goers to lose faith that we will actually ever do anything about them and view our responses that we’re “looking into them” as empty promises. It was for this reason that I avoided the word “soon” in the letter. No more “soon”, only action. In the context of a producer letter though, and given the current community sentiment, I now realize that glossing over our plans to address these issues was a mistake. With that said, here are the immediate issues we’re hoping to tackle in the next few 2-3 weeks:

- Fashion Coupon and Federation Bill Store updates (targeting release on January 19)
- Channel increase in Northern Arun (a temporary solution for farming the “That Aint’ Right” quest, but ultimately a band-aid on a larger issue surrounding drops) (to be deployed on January 19)
- Etching materials drop rates (tentatively targeting January 26)
- We also received a hotfix in-house today that fixes a number of minor bugs that we are targeting for deploy on January 19 or 26

Beyond the above issues, I hope to chisel away at several other long-standing issues in the near future, including improving dungeon drops, awakening success rates, re-instituting Battleground power hours, and so on. Really, addressing these issues and responding to player feedback is an ongoing process that the TERA team here at EME needs to get better at. We have identified this shortcoming (the community has made it very clear) and we will resolve to do better in this regard in 2016.

Again, our goal going forward is to be more communicative overall and provide you greater transparency about what’s going on behind the scenes and the efforts we’re making to advocate for and address the community’s concerns. Part of that visibility will mean you’ll hear things that you’re not happy about or may not agree with, but hopefully you’ll at least know the reasoning behind it. It’s this reasoning that we failed to communicate yesterday. Improving our relationship with the community will take time. But through frequent and open communication, I feel we can get there. These are just words though, our resulting actions will be more important.

Thanks,
-- Matthew “Denommenator” Denomme

Thanks,

Heya folks, the wait is almost over. This has been circulating for internal reviews and is nearly ready.
I posted this in News and Announcements but I'll copy it here:

I'm still preparing an appropriate response to all this. Trust me when I say we're not taking this response lightly. I apologize for the delay but know there is a response coming.

It will be posted before I leave today, no matter how long that takes.
Vysse on 01/14/2016, 06:20 PM - view
Any idea of an ETA on that? I know you're probably busy with A LOT atm but an ETA would be nice.

We're doing an internal review but I'm going to post it before I leave today...so as long as I'm in the office. Hopefully within 1-2 hours.
I'm still preparing an appropriate response to all this. Trust me when I say we're not taking this response lightly. I apologize for the delay, however. Know there is a response coming.

I think you missed the point of what harmonia said and now this will be another deleted/locked thread

Correct. This thread will now be locked with the others, as -once again- discussing moderation is not permitted on the forums.

If you have specific complaints about moderation action, please email the community team directly at community@enmasse.com.
Hey all, once again we are not deleting comments nor are we trying to sweep player dissatisfaction or criticism under the rug. Certain spam posts that violate forum rules may be removed, but comments and discussion are not being deleted unless they are in violation of the forum rules.

The goal here is to focus feedback on the Producer Letter to one place -- the Producer Letter post itself, and to consolidate threads on the same topic (example: What are YOUR issues with TERA and Updates & Fixes Wish List were consolidated as they are both threads discussing current top wishes from the community) into one larger discussion.

As with the other threads made *solely* to discus moderator action (the locking of threads and redirection of discussion to their respective existing threads), this thread will also be locked.

Continually making threads that are known to be in violation of the forum rules (such as this one discussing moderator actions) will result in temporary forum suspensions.

TL:DR: Follow the forum rules and your posts will not be moderated.
Again, this thread is being locked as discussion about moderation is not allowed on the forums and that is this post's sole purpose.

There are several consolidated, open discussion threads here in the General Discussion section of the forums and the Producer Letter thread is also open for discussion here: What's What in 2016
Hi Jenieve,

Posts about moderation are not allowed on the forums, so I will lock this thread as that is its sole purpose. Please participate in the active discussions in their appropriate threads.

Some threads which are duplicates may be locked to direct all discussion on a topic to one place, but as long as feedback/posts do not violate the forum rules they will not be deleted.

I apologize if I come off as arrogant, but I get the feeling your team did not fully grasp just how angry and fed up players are, or just how negatively this was going to be seen. We might legitimately see enough salt on these forums to put the dead sea to shame if it's another aloof and deluded letter to the player-base.

You aren't coming across as arrogant at all. The Community Team completely understands the impact of the Producer Letter and everyone's feelings about it. We are confidant that the upcoming letter from Denomme will address this, too.

Today. He is working on it right now.

Yes, I understand that you don't want spam, but one way or the other, the point is getting across and you should be taking that into account. Not everyone is entirely capable of constructive criticism, but they are at least trying to make themselves be heard. The more people shout something, the harder it becomes to sit back and ignore it.

I think we should do a better job at what we mean by "spam" and other behaviors.

Posting over and over without any actual content (saying eff u, staff should be fired, you suck), and creating more and more threads on that, is the only thing that is being removed for spam. Folks who are posting that sort of thing over and over.

We know that some folks are posting on mobile and many aren't native English speakers. We know that not everyone will make a structured post. Here are some of the rules to help with posting guidelines.

C. Personal Information, Attacks, and Threats
- Any language that can be perceived as an attack against other individuals or En Masse Entertainment employees.

D. Inappropriate Obscenity, Vulgarity, and Profanity
- Anything construed as excessively crude or offensive.

F. Harassment and Defamatory Statements
- Anything construed as referring to other individuals or En Masse Entertainment employees using any disallowed content or behavior.

G. Discussion of Moderator Action
- Excessive or direct reference to past, present, or future moderator action on the official TERA forums.
- Excessive discussion or debate of the official TERA forums rules.

2) BEHAVIOR: The following sections outline actions which are not allowed on the official TERA forums.

B. Spamming and Post Content
- Excessive repetition of a single phrase, similar phrases, image or images, or incoherent gibberish.
- Excessive use of Caps Lock.
- "First posting".
- "inb4lock" posting.
- Posts with minimal or no content.
- Posts that do not contribute to the overall conversation.
- Threads or posts whose primary purpose is dramatic effect rather than substantive discussion.
- "Goodbye" threads. Please note, "goodbye" threads will result in immediate thread removal and the author's permanent suspension from the forums.
- Posts made only to "bump" a thread to the front page of that forum section.
- Petitions are explicitly forbidden. Please note, calling a petition a request will not disguise its true nature.

Hopefully, this will help clarify what is expected. These are the rules everyone agreed to when they created their accounts.
We're closing this thread, as we currently have a feedback thread regarding the latest Producer Letter. It would be extremely helpful for everyone to keep their feedback, both positive and negative, to the one thread. I think the first reference is to people being back from the holiday break, whereas the second is a reference to everyone showing up for the day.

You are correct. I was in the office much earlier than regular scheduled time.
DayBunny on 01/14/2016, 11:47 AM - view
At least it's working though.

Actually, the folks expressing their frustration and even anger, in a constructive and clear manner is really what is grabbing everyone's attention.

The spamming is ignored, and sadly, with it means that the truly good discussion gets passed by the wayside. We do appreciate folks who are taking the time to post without spamming.
OverlordMastema on 01/14/2016, 10:38 AM - view
"posting a lot is fine"
"encouraging others to make heaps of posts...These things are not appropriate"

So which one is it? Is it okay or not?

And did you actually just tell everyone that petitioning and protesting isn't okay? So are you saying we should just lay down and take it?

We do not allow petitions on the forums. We do not allow people to spam the forums as a protest. Continually expressing your concerns =/= spam/petitions/protests.
Hello all,

I've met with Harmonia & Denomme, along with other key TERA staff. Denomme is working on a follow up Producer Letter, to cover your concerns raised in this thread. When they are finished with their current meeting about this thread, he will start constructing it so we hit all the concerns.

We apologize that this is taking a long time for you to get answers, but we do not want to rush it out without being able to remark and discuss your concerns.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.
ThtOneGuy on 01/14/2016, 08:51 AM - view
I understand the punishments for the first two, you have to protect your people its understandable.
But the last one, "inciting other people to spam/protest/" So you don't want us to make our voices heard? You don't want to know we are unhappy with what we feel is "a slap in the face" or lack of concern for your player base? I'm not attacking just to be very clear here. (nor am I encouraging any of my fellow players to join me as that is from what I now understand a violation) I'm just making sure I understand your statements clearly as I believe protest is the best way to encourage major change and awareness, my belief is only proven by the fact that you actually responded to our responses finally after everything got extremely heated and negative. Just my 2-cents before I get my 7-timeout or ban that I'm expecting.

Expressing your dissatisfaction is fine. Posting a lot is fine.

Some folks are encouraging others to make heaps of posts, to start petitions, and protests. Trolling, flaming, and spamming the same things over. These things are not appropriate.
haroldz on 01/14/2016, 08:47 AM - view
Locking redundant threads is a good thing. So to is deleting unconstructive posts that are clearly incitement for others to form a mob mentality.

This reply clearly demonstrates the desire to keep this specific post as clear and concise as possible. From a production and development standpoint, having player concerns readily available and free of shenanigans is beneficial

1000000% correct. Thank you.

Actually, we do need your feedback. The Community Team wants very clear feedback regarding the Producer Letter so we can take it back to not only Production, but to other teams. Most teams here do not read the forums, and having one thread lets them find what they need, rather than trying to gather feedback across numerous threads.
Off topic posts in General Discussion. :D

In this, you are correct! This position will be focused on TERA exclusively, while also leading our streaming efforts for all our games. I manage the team, along with projects, reporting, and a variety of other tasks. You'll still see me around here, assisting along with Harmonia.

We have some excellent candidates, all who would be amazing as your new TERA CM.

Hello all,

My sincere apologies for not posting in this thread earlier. I was in meetings and had to leave at 5pm for an appointment. Harmonia followed up with me about the thread, and I will be following up with production.

Harmonia has been gathering your feedback, plus I will be doing a deep dive on this thread today. Alas, we must also do a lot of clean up on it.

We won't close it, as it's important for you to be heard. However, the following posts will be removed from it, along with new threads created for the same types of things, and we will be awarding 7-day timouts for continued rules violations:

-Personal attacks towards EME/BHS Staff
-Personal attacks towards other players
-Inciting other people to spam/protest/

We'll be locking threads, and referring back to this thread. It is imperative that it it stays clean, not only for Production's needs, but for all Departments as we share your feedback. We know you are frustrated and even angry, but please help us:

Keep it clean.
Keep it concise.
Keep it focused.

Once everyone is in the office, the Community Team will be talking to Production about a follow up post to help clear up the miscommunication and lack of details from the original post.

Thank you for your patience.

Greetings TERA community and a happy 2016!

With a new year upon us, it’s time again to reflect back on the year that was 2015and look forward to what is already promising to be an action-packed and fun-filled 2016 in TERA!

In my almost four years working at En Masse Entertainment, I have never seen the TERA team as busy as we were in 2015! In just 12 months, we rolled out the second part of the Fate of Arun major expansion, introduced the competitive Crusades system featuring guild-owned Skycastles, added seven new dungeons, developed a new in-game event format you saw as Kyra’s Pop-Up Potion Shack, and released two game-changing new classes.

It’s hard to believe we’re approaching the fourth year of live service. It’s a true testament to the passion and dedication of the TERA community and the staying power of TERA within the MMORPG genre that 2015 was TERA’s most successful individual year so far. In fact, TERA had more unique active players in 2015 than in any previous year. We’re riding this wave of momentum into 2016, armed to the hilt with exciting new updates and initiatives. So with that said, let’s dive into the juicy details.

We’ll release our first major build of 2016 in early March. This build will increment us several versions ahead of our current version, bringing not only new content, but also several new EME-developed systems and initiatives. For content, this update features a hard mode for the recently released Forsaken Isle max-level dungeon, an upgrade to the Dreadspire challenge dungeon (dubbed “Dreadspire Season 2” by the developers), and the transformation of the Island of Dawn into a max-level hunting zone. En Masse Entertainment is also working internally on some development projects to be released alongside this update.

First up is a long-overdue re-design of TERA’s in-game store. The new store will be more reliable than the existing store and will feature a brand new (and much more attractive) layout that includes new features such as search, the ability to view related products, and expanded sorting functionality. Finally, this update will also feature a new VIP loyalty system which was co-developed and co-designed by En Masse Entertainment and Bluehole and will see debut in our territory. Stay tuned for more information on this system as we approach release!

We realize that March is a long time to wait for the next update though, so rest assured that we have some plans to fill in the gap until then. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be rolling out incremental updates and fixes in response to many of the top issues identified by the community over the past several months. We’ll also be hosting some events in this first quarter of the year, including a romantic return of Kyra’s Pop-Up Potion Shack in February.

Beyond the build releasing in March, we are already looking ahead to TERA’s monumental fourth anniversary in May, the release of a new elin-exclusive ninja class recently announced in Korea, and even flying Pegasus mounts, proving that the sky is truly the limit when it comes to TERA’s future content development.

Thank you for your continued commitment to TERA throughout 2015. We look forward to delighting and surprising you with new ways to have fun in TERA in 2016!

We sent out a call to several popular streamers and gave them a challenge: Form TERA guilds, level brawlers, then fight it out in Corsairs’ Stronghold for the amusement of the Twitch audience!

Six brave streamers answered the call, created brand-new guilds, and began training in anticipation of their eventual showdown in our invitational PvP tournament. And on Friday, January 15, at 1 p.m. PST, they’ll come together in two teams of three guilds each for the Big Brawl: a “best-of-three” mini-tournament, with big prizes going to the winning team.

Better still, En Masse will be streaming the entire proceedings! Join us on Twitch for all the action, the play-by-play, and the color commentary.

Remember: The Big Brawl starts at 1 p.m. PST on Friday, January 15. Don’t be late!

EME buys patches from BHS once a while to keep NA TERA updated, so they will not spend more money on hiring programmers to fix bugs or change some of the contents by EME itself. No matter how much complains are on the forum, they won't spend a dime on it. Waite for BHS to fix it, is the cheapest way.

The reason why most other regions are a bit different than KTERA is that the operators buy a customed package of patches from the developer and apply it on their servers. So we may see FIHM with some class balance patches altogether as one patch, and DS2 with some other KTERA changes altogether as another patch. - We all know buy a package is cheaper than buying them one by one.

When so many players complain on a single topic, EME forward this issue to BHS and wait for half a year to let BHS provide solution. The message players want to delivery will gone through translation and multiple channels, by the time our message reaches BHS, it is already blurred and incorrect. Therefore BHS's solution does not necessarily solve our problem.

Some issues we have experienced for the past half a year, may get fixed soon. Some issues we just find out, may get fixed half a year later. A lot of the issues will never get fixed.

TERA is an old game, with the population decline, and recent attitude from EME, we might see TERA going down soon.

You can check the following post about recent complains and TERA population analysis:

Jumping here to set the record straight as there has been a lot of misinformation floating around regarding EME, Bluehole, and our relationship.

In fact, Bluehole supplies builds (based on their recent development) to TERA publishers worldwide. These publishers (including EME) then prepare the build for release in their region; applying region-specific configurations. There is a limit to what we can and cannot change, which is a much larger topic.

Some (not all) of the issues referenced in the forum threads you linked to are complex problems that touch many aspects of the game. While we are looking into these complaints, enacting changes can take some time (while we determine and test appropriate solutions, as well as work with Bluehole when necessary).

My personal experiences - just to share:
1. When Live Chat was available, I can solve my problem within 5mins. Now I have to send a ticket and wait for 10 business days (usually more than 2 weeks). My friend sold his empowered brooch to NPC and waited for 2 weeks to get it back.

Live chat can slow our response times during periods of high ticket volume. Tickets allow us to prioritize customer support requesta according to urgency. Live chat could potentially distract our customer support agents from more urgent issues.

The example you cited of your friend requesting his brooch be returned to him is an example of courtesy request. There are more urgent types of customer support issues we would prioritize over a request such as this.

Charlotte3s on 01/13/2016, 10:45 AM - view

2. The Brawler chest Haymaker damage increase got ninja swapped (multiple players complained on forum) and I sent a ticket - response was they understand that I have spent thousands of spellbinds to roll it before the ninja swap, as they can see from the logs. However I will have to roll it again myself to get my desired rolls again. Also they will update this brawler chest class effect change very soon (He said that on my ticket a few weeks ago).

I believe this has been stated elsewhere but this was not a ninja change but instead a localization error that was corrected for accuracy. No change was made to the actual function of the gear piece.

Heya everyone,

Thanks for the kitty pics! Post is up now!

@AugustoC, I'm checking on the status of that bug but thank you for pointing it out (and cute, cute kitty!).
Happy Friday, and Happy New Year! "Stuff of the Week" is now the "Week in Review".

State of Support
Our support team continues to work very hard to assist players as quickly as possible following the December Knockout update and end of year holidays. The current response time is approximately 9 days, although technical issues preventing players from accessing the game should receive a response in less time. We know how frustrating it is to wait for assistance, especially when that wait is so much longer than our usual response time. We are continuing to make progress and hope to return to our regular response time of under 48 hours very soon.

We also recognize that it is distressing to the community to learn that live chat is not currently being offered. As a former GM myself, I can speak from personal experience when I say this is not because we do not care. It is purely an issue of efficiency. Our support team can help more people in less time through the use of support tickets than through support chat, especially during periods of high volume. This ultimately will benefit the entire TERA community by ensuring all players receive the best and quickest assistance possible.

Please do your part to help by:
- Not opening multiple support tickets for the same issue.
- Closing an open support ticket if your issue has been resolved.
- Providing as much detail as you can (especially error messages and diagnostic files if you have a technical issue) so the GM can do their best to resolve your request/issue efficiently.

We will continue to update our State of Support pinned thread with updates on the current estimated response time.

TERA Seasonal Events Drawing to a Close
This week saw the end of several in-game holiday and brawler events. Next week during our Tuesday maintenance, the Wintera BG will close and the Brace for Impact event will also end. The Gift Center will close on Wednesday, and any remaining unclaimed gifts will at that time be flagged for conversion to Santa Suits (which will be sent out the following week).

Updates on the Knockout...Update and Upcoming Patches!
Next week's maintenance on Tuesday will not address any of the issues listed below, but these are still considered top and high priority issues that have been reported to Bluehole for resolution.

Issues waiting for developer resolution:
- Player reporting function no longer available
- Steam-powered weapon skins do not show enchantment glow
- Ornamental Hauberk for gunners not displaying gloves and boots
- Missing broker categories for Arcannon and Powerfist weapons
- Class-specific armor pieces in broker display to classes that cannot equip them
- Brawler Tensus chest is not registering as part of the Tensus set
- Several NPCs are missing dialogue (and have squares instead)
- Multiple warriors in the same party are crossing the streams and causing teleportation issues with the skill Charging Slash.
- Chat occasionally reverts to "say" without the correct color changes. We're currently investigating the cause of this issue.
- Ghillieglade resets to hard mode if player dies during Banyakas fight having chosen to protect the guardians

Requests from the Community
We've been closely monitoring the forums for feedback over the holidays and will have more information to share on the top community issues very soon. Now that our teams are all back in the office after the holidays, we will be working out the scheduling and details of January and February's updates and will communicate this information to the community at the earliest date possible.

Coming Next Week: 2016 Inaugural Producer Letter
A new year means new announcements! We'll be kicking off next week with a Producer's Letter to announce some of the expected changes for TERA in early 2016, but the cat's out of the bag on a few things already:

TERA's next class has been revealed by Bluehole!

We know there is a lot of excitement, so head on over to the existing forum thread to discuss!

Danicia's December Community Letter covers the change of TERA publishers in other regions and some new upcoming content for all regions.

Yes, some of the same items will be in this week's post, since most of our team has been out for the holidays, but we'll also tackle some of the top requests and topics of the week :)
Incoming! (no really) :)

It will be up soon as it's currently being written. I'm not saying cute pics of kittens will speed up the arrival time, but anything is possible!
Hi T0da,

Good catch, we extended this contest to last through the weekend and it will expire Monday afternoon. We'll be announcing the winners shortly after!
Super positive things:

-I am really loving my Popo Warrior. Sorry everyone. :)
-The Community Team will be at full staff again soon!
-I will get to start building the new forums as soon as I'm back in the office
The event did run a bit longer than intended, but has now been deactivated.
Hey everyone,

You'll notice a number of posts have been edited or removed as they were direct insults between players that violate the forum rules and were unrelated to the topic at hand.

This thread will be locked if it devolves into insults, so please keep the discussion on topic and civil.
