Take down the spirits that haunt the world of TERA noon PDT Tuesday, October 16 through noon PDT Monday, October 22, and you’ll find yourself amply rewarded! Our Spirit Rally has no tricks—it’s all treats like high-level charms, crystals, potions, and more. The spirits, which haunt the same zones as level 40 to level 60 characters, are easy to spot and even easier to scare into giving up their loot.
Even if you’re a level 60 adventurer facing TERA’s toughest challenges, fight a spirit starting October 16, and you’ll get some help for that next BAM fight or dungeon run!
First, the success rate of enchanting got increased across the board for all gears. The amount of increase will differ depending of it's a chest piece, gloves/boots, or a weapon, and the tier.
Second, these success rates have always been weighted by the type of gears that you sacrifice. We have increased the weight of green and blue gear (uncommon and rare), while common and superior still carry their previous weight.
In addition to easier enchanting (yay!), berserker class changes, and a new level 60 achievement, tomorrow’s patch features an Out-of-Game Services menu for convenient access to the TERA store, game guides, and more. It’s all in the 18.10.05.07 patch notes. Enjoy!
This post is available on our blog and as always, all of our patch notes are available here.
I don't mean to be vague. ^_^;; I don't have an answer to whether this will be changed or how they will be changed yet, so what I meant by 'we are looking into this' is that we are currently looking into this (verifying/communicating/discussing, etc.). I'll update when more information becomes available.
Hello folks, wanted to stop by and tell you that we are looking into this.
Also, I understand how people feel strongly about their beloved classes. Mystic and priest are my two personal favorites to play as well. However, please use this post as a reminder on using offensive language and making attacks on the forums. Remember the Official TERA forum rules and Rules of Conduct please.
Hello folks, just wanted to drop in and say thank you for sharing your thoughts on the seasonal event items. We are listening to your feedback and are always trying to make improvements, so it's important to hear what you guys think!
To add a bit more information on what Chager said, we've been varying the announcements, zones, levels, times, etc. So far we've used a web blog, forum post, socials, in-game server-wide announcements, global/region/say/tell chat for all different occasions and purposes, and the latest ending event so far ended at a bit after 8PM PDT. These decisions were made based on the community feedback on the wait times, how we would be able to engage folks on a more personal level and the amount of support we are able to provide. Another factor is the scale of the particular event. For example, a scavenger hunt could be done for a larger audience due to its nature of the event - announce the items and pick the winners as they come back, and even then we had a long wait. :( But an event like this where everyone is encouraged to participate by showing up just wouldn't have worked if we had made a larger announcement without making a long wait for everyone.
One great thing about trying diverse method is that I am able to hit different group of folks every time, we've had folks commenting that it was their first event and that they had missed previous ones. We are trying very hard to accommodate different folks and trying to improve them based on feedback, so expect to see even more variety of times and days like you mentioned!
(Oh and for larger events on weekends, we are working to include some weekdays as well based on (you guessed it) community feedback. One's coming soon as we speak. :) )
Print out your choice of castanic, popori, pumpkinhead, or ovolith on a color printer. We recommend stiff paper like card stock, if you have it, but it’s not required. Grab your scissors (carefully!) and follow the instructions.
We hope these decorations will inspire your creativity for a TERA-fic Halloween! Decorate your desk, your dorm, or even your dog, then post pictures to the forums. Happy Halloween!
We're trying several different things, from advertising outside the game (forums) to just doing in game announcements an hour or so before hand, to literally no announcement.
We're trying to balance what we can do on a 'flash' informal basis with player expectations. A great example would be if we had advertised this on socials, forums or even in game server wide announcements, we would have a 2 hour wait just to play and the end result wouldn't be good from a player perspective.
There will be some events that we gear towards a larger crowd, and those will have a more wide advertisement, but for these small flash events we want player to have fun and that means smaller groups :(
- The enchant increase rates are from T1~T14 (so yes T14 enchant rates are higher than before)
- While green and blue fodder multipliers have been increased from before, they are still not as high as gold items. The hope is that by upping green and blue fodder rates, it will make those items more desirable
Hey Yuri, we'll think of something. It may not be exactly that, though... :P
I know everyone has a lot of questions and concerns regarding this. We wanted to announce this soon to give everyone time to prepare, but do realize that except for the dates and the format, we can be flexible in addressing concerns.
I know Battlegrounds aren't perfect, but we want to provide something that will be fun for everyone involved. We're looking into adding more prizes (other than gold) but that stuff is still TBD. As far as gear goes, we have some thoughts but for now it is what it is.
Random selection is weird (I agree), but letting people in who have the ability to submit/type the fastest doesn't seem to be any better. We want people to get into teams they like and want to play with, and not just join up with a team because registration is about to start.
Most fair would be first come, first serve on a specific date. Having it just pure random is going to cause a lot of rage.
If you don't get selected, you will be refunded for the registration fee, correct?
I think this boils down to your definition of fair, which is a conversation better saved for somewhere else. :) Nonetheless this is what we've decided on.
And correct. If your team is not selected, you will be notified and the registration fee will be refunded. We will have full registration details in the coming week.
More accessible gear would be nice I agree Phaere.
None the less, this is an exciting event I'm looking forward to! You should make the tournaments observable from some magic orb (or whatever) in game.
(Although, I don't know if EME can actually do that or if it has to be requested to Blue Hole Studios. Either way I'd love to see the action if at all possible!!!)
We are working on streaming some of the matches. Stay tuned.
Ready to rumble in TERA’s player-versus-player battles? Gather a team of at least 15 PvP-minded players together and gear up for TERA’s battleground tournament, Canyon Clash, on November 10 and 11.
This double-elimination tournament will pit 16 teams across all servers in Fraywind Canyon matches for game-wide bragging rights, unique achievements, plus tons of gold.
The first-place team will split 150,000 gold, and every member will get a special in-game title and achievement. Second-place combatants split 90,000 gold. The third-place team splits 45,000 gold. To register, gather 15 to 20 players (15 will fight, and the rest will be backups). Guild affiliation doesn’t matter, but everyone on your team must be level 60 and must play on the same server. Your team leader must submit both the team roster and the 15,000 gold entry fee. We’ll post more registration details (like how and where to register) in the coming days. Actual registration is from October 19 to November 2.
After registration closes, we’ll randomly choose 16 teams and display a bracket on the Canyon Clash tournament info page about a week before the tournament begins, so start drafting your all-star team!
Yesterday we held a flash event on Island of Dawn and invited folks to play a game of tic tac toe near the starting platform.
We used mystic's skills Arun's Vitae and Tears (healing and mana motes) to mark the O and X, and the participants walked over to stand in the square they wanted marked. The match started by the participants performing /roll to decide who gets to go first, and sometimes the competition became fierce when it was decided by 1! In the end though, there could only be one winner and the winner received a pair of blue frames while those who were defeated or had a tie received an eye patch. (I'm sure it made some people's day to hear me /cry when I lost the match! :))
These flash events are the continuation of various event plans Chager spoke of in his producer letter, and this latest event was an implementation of some of the feedback we've received during the past two flash events. We are making conscious efforts to vary the events (types, hours, days, announcements, zones, levels, etc.), and compared to the previous ones, we designed this event focusing on small groups and individuals who were low level characters. We also dedicated different and sufficient times for each server to minimize wait time and promote more personal and in-depth interaction with the participants without having to wait.
Our goal is to create a diverse range of opportunities for many different types of our community members to enjoy. We will continue to work on adding more ways to interact with our community through these events and please feel free to share your suggestions and thoughts.
As always, it was great to meet you in character and it was also a lot of fun for us to see you have fun. Thank you for playing the mystic tic tac toe and see you again soon!
(All of the prizes have been sent out. If you participated, please check your Item Claim menu!)
In an effort to share info a bit more informally and sooner, I wanted to stop by and share some details about the build that we'll be publishing next Tuesday (10/16). Yep, we've been planning multiple pieces and we will get into the spirit of season soon starting with a RL crafting bit. There will be a costume contest during the masquerade ball, so now's a good time to begin thinking about the outfit! :)

We’re excited to announce that the Game Developers Choice Online Awards have nominated TERA for both Best Online Visual Arts and Best Online Technology! A group of 500 industry professionals will select a winner in each category, revealing the winners at a ceremony on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Austin Convention Center.
Other nominees for Best Online Visual Arts are Empires & Allies, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Age of Empires Online, and Glitch.
Other nominees for Best Online Technology are Diablo III, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Indiana Jones Adventure World, and The Sims Social.
Thanks for your feedback, everyone. We will continue to work on improving our communication with everyone and Chager's posts are us taking the steps to do so. :)
(To clarify, KTERA's improvements on any given subject may or may not match what we will get. Enchanting is one example. We will be introducing a way to guarantee the enchanting success and also bettering the chances as well, and these measures are not the same as KTERA. From the beginning we've had different systems because we did not have the chance of enchanting level decrease during unsuccessful enchants, and it takes time to decide whether something that is happening in another territory will be implemented in our territory and if so if it will be implemented in the same way or not. As we share more information with everyone on what's coming to TERA this is something that we want everyone to understand.)
I will close this thread before it gets more personal but it will remain in public view since it contains a lot of good discussion points.
You may have heard that Playspan was hacked and million of IDs and passwords have been leaked. Before I go any further En Masse and TERA are not associated with Playspan so your information with us is safe. That being said, we know many of you play games that playspan supports including Guild Wars and World of Tanks.
This is an opportunity to remind everyone that when hackers get this information they will routinely go from game to game trying the email address and passwords that they hacked somewhere else in hopes of gaining access to other games. We recommend that you do the following to be safe.
Change your email address password
Ideally you would use a different email address for games, but if you do not make sure you chane your password. You may want to then create another email address for your different games.
Make sure your account armor is enabled
Account armor is a very important tool in protecting your TERA account, and has already prevented accounts from being hacked. More information on how to enable account armor can be found here.
It's worth repeating, En Masse accounts were not associated with this breach at Playspan, but if you ever feel your account has been hacked please follow these steps..

RE: Price of 100% alkahest = we haven't decided anything yet. It will be significant in price and would be aimed at the people that don't want to take a chance on being able to enchant to that next level cheaper and want the guaranteed result.
RE: Fodder market with 100% alkahest. I don't think this will crash the fodder market. I see the increased success rates driving more people to enchant, and overall keeping even with the supply and demand of fodder. With the 100% alkahest, 1) we haven't determined the fodder reqs yet 2) even with this, the price will most likely keep people from doing this for +1 all the way through +12.
I see the most likely use of the 100% alkahest being people who are trying to get +10-12 on T13 or T14 (more likely) gear and don't want to take the time or chance at possibly doing it cheaper than buying the alkahest.
All of this being said we definitely have our eye on the overall in game economy and making sure that everything stays balanced. That will be as much of a key factor in the timing and price of the 100% alkahest as the development work that goes into it.
Instead of asking people to not play on a server they choose, let's take the time to inform them what the server is about and create the atmosphere that welcomes it. Telling someone not to play on a RP server is similar to telling a RP'er to not play on any other server, and I don't think that's really what we should be doing.
On the other hand, if someone is actually griefing others, please let our Support team know.
Closing this derailed thread with personal attacks.
Good opinions here, thanks to everyone for the feedback.
I'll be honest, I am still hesitant to lay out our entire schedule for several reason. That being said, I do think everyone has a valid point about having more information the day before a patch, so we're working on putting some things in place behind the scenes that will get more info out there to everyone (ie peep the enchanting post I just put up;). Let's take it slow and evaluate how the new information sharing goes and let us know if its not enough or if there's more specifics we can share and we'll say yay or nay and try to give reasoning.
Thanks,
-Chager
PS - we sent a newsletter out a few weeks ago that teased October and the Halloween event
I teased in a producer letter last month that we were working on fixing enchanting. Now that we've had some time to solidify those plans I want to share them with you before they happen so you'll know what to expect.
Part 1:
As part 1 of the enchanting fix, we are changing what success ratios are applied to what gear you're trying to enchant. The old system had a fixed probability for all enchantable materials (weapons, all armor, etc.) We realized that it isn't practical or fair to apply the same chance to all items, so we've broken the enchanting %'s into 3 categories; weapons, armor, boots/gloves. In addition to this, we've assigned different success ratios to each category. The real improvement is that we've thrown out the old ratios and redone them with this new system in mind. I won't share the specific percentages, but every single enchant stage for all tiers of weapons/armor has been increased. The increases are dramatic in some cases (15x greater chance than before) and after looking at the numbers and getting a feel for it in game I am very excited at the change. We've also slightly changed the way the fodder is used and put a heavier weight on some fodders, upping the chances of success even more. This will be part of the patch that goes live on 10/16.
Part 2:
We've seen several suggestions on the forums and in game saying "I wish there was a way to GUARANTEE success in enchanting." Part 2 of the enchanting revision will be adding alkahest that has a 100% success rate. We have been monitoring success rates and know at each enchant level and for each tier of weapon roughly how much a player spends to get a successful enchant (on average). We don't have the specifics down yet, but are using this data to help us pin it down. This will be very expensive in game, but we feel that by increasing the enchant success chances (which lowers the overall cost of enchanting, but still has an element of chance) and by offering a very expensive 100% guaranteed alkahest, we are giving players a variety of ways to get their enchant on. Part 2 of the enchant revision should be live in early November (exact date TBD).
Once we get both of these parts in the game we'll take another look at the data, the player comments and feedback, and see where we stand and if further tweaks are needed, so please let us know how things are going with enchanting as we roll out these changes.
Are ya'll talking about the enchanting fix part 1?
If so it will affect all weapon/armor tiers and all enchant levels. I'm working on a quick post about it with more details but the TL:DR is that we're increasing the chance of success for everything and upping the success changes depending on the fodder you use.
Part 2 will be coming hopefully in the next 4-6 weeks.
Oh and it'll be here next Tuesday (barring any issues with QA testing).
I'm sorry to hear that you lost the character names. I am fond of my character names as well, so it is understandable that it's very upsetting.
We first communicated to our community of the merge on 9/3 in a web blog (displayed in the game launcher) and a mirroring forum post. We didn't have all of the details yet but we wanted to get the information out there for folks to prepare. We continued to give updates as we finalized the details in separate pinned threads such as these: Updated Details, Information and FAQ, and New Server Names & Maintenance.
Again, I'm sorry that you lost the character names. But under the circumstances we did our best by setting up the name appeal process that encompassed a variety of different aspects. The merge also freed up a lot of names that had not been used during OBT period, so hopefully you'll be able to find another name that you can grow to love.
On a side note, goodbye threads are against the Official TERA forum rules and I'll be locking the thread. It will still remain in public view.
We (production team) actually video conference with Bluehole weekly (sometimes more) and have pretty open communication lines. I get call a lot of nights from them asking questions or confirming specs. We have a good communication with them and discuss bugs, content updates, EME only changes, etc. on a regular basis.
One thing to keep in mind though, is that they also have teams like this for every current and new territory, and they are all vying for core development changes (our western team can do small changes and updates, but changing something like the Nexus system takes the core dev. team). Our priorities get stacked against other territory priorities, and where we have similar concerns it gets elevated, where we differ the priority process comes into play (scope, players effected, territory build, and about 100 other variables).
We do our best to push what our players want but sometimes we have to wait our turn to get everything that we want.
Hope this helps y'all understand a bit more about communication and how we work with BHS.
Let me help with the questions y'all have by explaining our process a bit.
As I've said before, we have a rough delivery schedule and what will be in each of those builds from now until the end of the year. There are often last minute changes to the build contents, which could either change the date or what the build contains. We have a good idea of what the 'final' build delivery will be a week or two prior to the delivery, but always like to err on the side of caution and not talk about build contents until we actually receive it and have it in our QA environment. Depending on the size of the build, total contents to test, etc. this could be a few days to a few weeks.
Up until now we've been on a pretty regular 2 week iteration where we get and deploy builds from BHS. When they were here in Seattle last we had a great discussion on the pros and cons for this, using the past few months as a way to analyse how effective this was. Turns out that with a 2 week process we could each make and test small changes, but we didn't have the bandwidth to really get into a few issues that needed more than a few days of dev work (enchanting for one). To be able to tackle these bigger issues, we changed the delivery schedule to be more content focused instead of weekly focused. The result of that was a change from a 2 week regular cycle to a slightly more irregular schedule based on development milestones, and that time difference is 'roughly' 3ish weeks apart now.
For those who think we are sitting on builds, the most definitive answer is no. I've said it before and I'll say it again, our team is kick [filtered] when it comes to receiving, testing, and deploying builds. A week turn around for large updates that we get is pretty ridiculous, especially when you consider we test new changes, regress bugs, create new localization files, test patches (game and localization) and publish this to multiple environments to ensure patches happen right the first time (AND have a weekend crammed in there somewhere for family). We also all play TERA in the office, and I would be personally bludgeoned to death if I got caught sitting on a build.
We are trying to be transparent with what's going on, and Minea tries to communicate what's coming in upcoming patches once we receive and can make sure things get into the build, but sometimes what gets delivered isn't always what we originally intended (for one reason or another).
Question to you all though: Would you rather have potentially incorrect information earlier (date changes, some content potentially not delivered or ready after testing) or would you rather have more accurate info on what's coming closer to the live publish date? I lean towards making sure I know what is in a build before we talk about it, but change is always possible.
Actually we do listen to our community and share the comments and feedback with Bluehole Studio. And as long as the feedback is constructive and follows the forum rules, etc., it is always welcome!
(Btw, I personally encourage everyone to learn Korean because it's a cool and different language to learn. :) )
Hello folks, thank you for your sharing your thoughts with us. We absolutely encourage everyone to voice their thoughts on what they'd like to see in TERA, but goodbye posts/threads are against the Official TERA forum rules. I will leave this thread in public view but will lock it.
This would be convenient and neat, but currently friends-only-channel for everyone who's friends with each other is not on our to-do list for the near future.
Closing this now-derailed thread that contains offensive language and goodbye post. Also let's be a bit more careful when we give advice. It's always more encouraging to see "try x or y because it does z" instead of "if you're doing x then you're doing it wrong and you're bad". :)
Discussion of the Elin culture is fine but as has been made clear before, discussion of 'pedos' or anything sexual in "real life" as related to Elin is not. Thread closed.
It's good that we want to compliment folks who are great PvP'ers in BG, but we need to do it in a constructive manner. Currently the original post actually divides the TERA community has a negative effect with its demeaning comments and assumptions on non-PvP servers.
Also replicating a similar thread that was locked recently is not a great idea. Nor is it a good idea to forget the Official TERA forum rules. Please take this post as a reminder.

GMs will routinely monitor different aspects of the game including dungeon runs, but from what you stated it looks like something different occurred. We certainly understand the need to remained focused during runs and a GM in the middle of a boss fight is a distraction unless it was clear they were going to be there in the first place.
To the unnamed GM...
I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking to troll, I can tell you I don't have any tolerance for that. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you stop trolling now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I make sure that the standard GM protocol is followed moving forward.
Hello there. Although this is the Off-Topic forum, the TERA forums exist to build a community for TERA. I don't feel that this is the case for this post/thread, so I am closing it.
We've never been at a point to where we have a patch has been tested and ready, and then decided not to release it for a while. The length of the patch notes of a build certainly plays no factor in when we release things. It does us no good just to sit on new content that's ready. I know it can feel this way when Korea gets all the fancy new toys, but it's not the case.
Sorry you had a hard time in BT HM. Our GM's do play the game, but they do not also moonlight as our testers. Most of the time they are helping customers, so it becomes tough to do so and run a HM dungeon at the same time. They do play Tera in their free time as well, but whether they have specifically played BT HM is up to them.
We had one situation in the past where the pots acted up on us in BT NM. That was fixed ASAP. There were no changes during maintenance this morning other than a few settings and nexus times, and those are outlined in the patch notes. Our testers have confirmed that BT HM has not changed, I have also personally looked into it and nothing has changed.
You are free to post on the forums to criticize any parts of the game you want, but please refrain from calling out any GM's in the future. Please see the Official Tera Forum Rules in the Gatehouse if you have questions on what could get your thread locked.
We will be restarting the Party Matching servers in an attempt to fix the battlegrounds.
Please note if you're in an instance you may be kicked from the game. If you are, don't fret! Just log back in and you'll be at the instance teleporter and your instance progress will be saved and ready for you to continue adventuring.
We restarted the Battleground Server and that didn't seem to have any affect. We are waiting until the Nexus and Traverse are completed from this afternoon's Nexus event before attempting anything else to avoid possible issues.
We'll let you know if we'll have any related downtime or restarts, but so far we are testing things that won't cause conflicts with live service.
During the weekly maintenance hours tomorrow (7:00 AM - 9:00 AM PDT), the patch brings adjusted nexus times and changes to guilds and crafting. Check out the details in our patch notes, and let your friends know when you’ll meet them in the nexus!
All servers will undergo weekly maintenance on Tuesday mornings starting at 7:00 AM Pacific Time. This scheduled downtime lasts two hours (7 - 9 AM). All servers will be taken down from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM Pacific Time.
The following servers will be unavailable every Tuesday from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM Pacific Time:
Mount Tyrannas - PvP
Tempest Reach - PvE
Celestial Hills - RP PvE
For real-time server status, please refer to the Server Status page. Thanks for your patience!
Thank you for all of the feedback, folks! It's always nice to hear what you guys want and like. We will be taking these ideas and thoughts into consideration.
Weapon skin winners, if you haven't checked your email, please do so! We're wrapping up the prizes.
This weekend we had a few issues with our Nexus events. We were aware of the problem shortly after it happened, however the way the Nexus is designed makes it inflexible to start up new ones on the fly after an issue. We are working on addressing this long term, but in the mean time we apologize for the issues.
We've taken the appropriate measures to correct this oversight. We've also listened to community feedback about the new 5pm nexus times during the week, and have adjusted these times to start at 6pm so more of you can jump into the nexus fray. The new schedule will begin tomorrow 10/2.
Patch notes will be up later today with the official times along with some other minor bug fixes.
Hello everyone, we are actively looking into the cause and solution of nexus not showing up on the scheduled times and we will give a more detailed update after the investigation. We are sorry for the inconvenience and we appreciate your patience.
[Hello everyone. Please remain on topic and leave personal insults out of discussions in the future. To the original poster, feel free to repost this thread, but after page three of editing out unnecessary comments this thread is being locked. Future trolling and derailing of discussions will result in harsher disciplinary action. Thank you]
I'm sorry to hear that you are going through tough times. CoH will always have a special place in my heart as it was my very first MMO and I sincerely hope everything works out for you and mom. *patpat*
What Eater said is a great advice, and be sure to check out all classes (including the ones you don't normally enjoy playing)! I've seen quite a few people who enjoy playing a different role than they normally do.
Hello folks, we have some really fun ideas in this thread, so thank you for sharing them. :)
Also everyone should have received their items or their item codes (in email) by now, so if you haven't received them, please get in touch with me! *points at the PM button above*
Was chatting about Halloween costumes for TERA a bit ago, and it was decided that we need an Elin costume for other races to wear. It would be a little dress and stockings, lots of bows, a fake tail and a headband with fake ears. Imagine a Baraka or Popo wearing it!
We're always looking for ways to improve TERA and BG is (and always will be) a part of that, so thank you for your feedback.
(Please note that it is against the forum rules to call out a specific player/staff/company, etc. and also remember to follow the Official TERA forum rules and Rules of Conduct.)
Check out this FAQ here. the 250+ crafting quests can only be picked up by level 50+ players. If you are of level and of crafting skill level, then what are you seeing at the Mission Board? Is it an empty tab?
We started giving them out yesterday (mentioned in the pinned thread on top) but we haven't gotten through all of them yet. We are working through the list of 150 folks. You will get them today. :)

Folks, we understand that it's frustrating, but the reason we can't restart/reset the nexus/traverse is because they are pre-programmed into the servers. This is not something that we can just wing it and change right at the moment. :(
Hey guys, we are sorry this happened. Unfortunately we can't reset/restart nexus/traverse because it's pre-programmed but we will investigate a possible solution. Thank you for your understanding.
Minea on 09/26/2012, 06:27 PM
Hello everyone,
We brought the server back up and it is now available. We have also investigated the possibility of resetting the nexus/traverse but the nexus times are pre-programmed into the servers and any changes to the set schedules have to be reworked & tested, and it will also require a server restart. This is a process that takes time and something that we can't do on the fly. We are sorry for this incident and will continue to investigate a possible solution. Thank you for your patience.

Guys, to clarify, these events are what Chager talked about in his producer's letter. These events will be on different days, different times, different servers, etc. and the way we announce these events will also vary from event to event. And more events are coming!
Minea on 09/18/2012, 10:07 AM
More Events with More Variety
We’re increasing the frequency and broadening the types of events we run, all aimed at giving TERA players more of what they want. We’ll be running several different events over the next few months; they fall into three categories.
Our staff here at En Masse will do small-scale flash events that engage each server’s players on a personal level. While I don’t want to give away all our plans, expect on-the-spot organized events like triathlon races, scavenger hunts, trivia, and so on.
We’ll also have weekend TERA-wide events that focus on particular groups of players or content. These events offer everything from increased drop rates for specific instances
(changing every weekend) to increased battleground points and rewards just for logging in. Every event weekend, we’ll have a new way to get players experiencing TERA’s content and forming new groups and communities.
Finally, we’ve got large-scale seasonal events. First is a Halloween event with several quest lines, some fun costumes
(and a costume ball), and even a Halloween-specific instance. More details on that later, but I’m pumped to play it. Further down the road, look for a battleground tournament and a large winter event.
We had another great turnout for the scavenger hunt yesterday and it was a blast! It's always exciting for us to actually meet you guys in game, even when the chat scrolls a bit too quickly to reply back to everyone. :)
During our scavenger hunt, the participants were asked to meet in Allemantheia to find out a list of items that come from various sources (monsters, NPC, crafting/other players). The first five winners who returned with the requested items won a weapon skin of their choice, while the next 50 runner-ups received a pair of blue frames. It was really cool to watch the line starting to grow as folks returned with the scavenger hunt items! We've started sending out the blue frames to the winners, and if you've won a weapon skin, please expect an email from us today!
There were also some improvements we made based on your feedback from our Speak Like a Pirate Day event. We had different staff covering one server at different times for us to have more time on each server and to minimize downtime, and we utilized more frequent and effective announcements to set the expectations and communicate the event progress. Another point we followed up on was having more prizes available for folks who participate in events.
We will continue to listen to your feedback and make improvements to the events. Speaking of which, if you have thoughts on what types of events or prizes you want us to run, please leave your suggestions!
Thank you all for coming out for the scavenger hunt and see you again soon!
Yesterday we mentioned that the prizes will take a day or two, but we are currently working on the blue frames but it will take a while since there are 150 of the winners across different servers. :)
As for the weapon skin winners(!), please expect an email from us today for more information!
Under the current circumstances, unfortunately not everyone got to keep their names. :(
Also, congratulations again for winning the scavenger hunt yesterday and don't worry about your weapon skin prize. It will be sent to the correct person. :)
I'm closing this thread as it has run its course, and no personal attacks please.
Fair point, which is why we're also changing out enchanting works in the near term. We felt it was more important to open additional nexus up slowly over time (which also opens traverse instances with new gear) and introduce enchanting changes in another build (which isn't far away).
As far as income, I didn't say half a player's income comes from nexus, just that a sizable sum of gold comes from a small percentage of players during a 2 hour game play session over the weekend. Goal isn't to punish by any means, but to not flood the market with gold prior to other changes.
Trust me, I hear you about enchanting being expensive. I've spend at least 4k gold on enchanting t13 and i'm at +8 on weapon and maybe +3-4 on my armor pieces (and yes I had to earn the gold legit, the GM's won't hook me up at all ;). That in mind, I think you and everyone else will be happy with some of the enchantment changes that will be happening very soon.
To clear the air a bit, we never hold patches back and sit on them. We have a carefully planned schedule for the next 4 months that includes updates from KR, events, and things we feel the players will want. As soon as a build is delivered from KR we test it and have it up (generally within 2 weeks, which is our normal cycle). We all play TERA and there is no way I would survive a day in the office if I sat on content...
Also with regards to the nexus, Nihilu is correct. We're slowly easing into more nexus times and an initial schedule and waiting to look at player feedback and data on economy. There's another thread I just posted some more details on, but a quick recap: prior to the nexus gold reduction, 1 day of weekend nexus events (2 nexus) could account for up to 25% of a server's daily income (roughly half of what is looted in an entire day). To avoid a bad economic situation, we're easing into more nexus times and watching the data closely, and will add and adjust when we know it's safe to do so.
With regards to KR Nexus times, there are currently on 10 nexus events going on; twice daily Tuesday/Wednesday and three times a day on Sat/Sun. (reference website: http://tera.hangame.com/wiki/read.nhn?docNo=15588).
I hope this helps understand a bit more about how content patch timing and also the rollout of our nexus events.
Changing the nexus times is a delicate balance that affects everything from server load to in game economy. We are starting with this initial new schedule, adding 4 times to increase our total to 10. We will be monitoring all of the data and also listening to concerns as we progress through this schedule and are always willing and able to change and adjust times as needed.
We specifically started with 4 additional times (not 3 times per day) because we want to be responsible with an adjustment like this. Reducing the gold and the increased nexus times go hand in hand, and before we open up the schedule more we want to make sure the impact within the game world is acceptable.
As a reference, prior to making the gold reduction changes, 6 nexus events over the weekend were responsible for upwards of 24% of a server's daily gross gold earnings (in some cases half of what players would loot in a full day!). With that in mind, you can see why we're taking a cautious approach with opening more times. I won't bore you with the economic analysis we do on a regular basis for the game, but just know we look at a lot of numbers and data before we make changes, and I want to be fiscally responsible within the world so we don't create a hyperinflation situation and have to increase gold sinks to account for the increased gold. (No one wants to buy a Keener's bandage for 100 gold.)
Try out the new nexus times and the old as well, and please continue to give us feedback and let us know what you like and don't.
As this response from another thread says, we have intentionally set various times and days of the week based on the community feedback. That said, we will continuously monitor the nexus activities.
Minea on 09/24/2012, 05:58 PM
We have intentionally varied the nexus times according to the player feedback. There is enough variety of time slots and days for everyone to participate with the new schedule, and we can continue to monitor and tweak the times going forward. The gold reward was reduced because it was impacting the economy more than we'd like, and we had to adjust that in order to have more frequent nexus times.
This is also a gentle reminder that repeatedly creating the same/similar posts over and over again is considered "spamming" the forums.
Let's consolidate this discussion to OP's longer thread here.

Tomorrow’s patch delivers an improved schedule of nexus events, quests to help you level up your crafting skills, and an assortment of bug fixes. Check out the patch notes for the latest update to TERA.
Players at the level cap will now be able to tackle nexus events ten (ten!) times a week—with times staggered to fit more players’ schedules. If you’re still leveling up, the crafting quests available in major cities can help you earn while you learn.
All servers will undergo this week's maintenance on Tuesday morning on 9/25 starting at 7:00 AM PDT. This scheduled downtime will last two hours (7 - 9 AM Pacific Time). All servers will be taken down from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM.
This maintenance hours are this week's weekly server maintenance times to implement the latest patch. We may be tweaking the hours to find the best time frame and duration of the weekly maintenance in the upcoming weeks. For this week's patch notes, please visit our latest patch notes section.
The following servers will be unavailable on Tuesday, September 25 from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM PDT:
Mount Tyrannas - PvP
Tempest Reach - PvE
Celestial Hills - RP PvE
For real-time server status, please refer to the Server Status page. Thanks for your patience!
Whether the reason is please be sure to report bad language and behavior to our Support team so that we are aware of the offenses, track them and take appropriate action.
If you happen to discover a troll in your discussion topic, or elsewhere in the forums, and you would like it to just go away, please follow these two simple rules of troll engagement:
Rule #1: Don't feed the troll, otherwise you'll just encourage it. And, for the love of TERA, do not quote the troll!
Rule #2: Report the troll, otherwise it'll just keep trolling.
Thank you for sharing your ideas with us! Although we don't/can't always comment in every thread, we read exponentially more than we comment. It'd be very interesting to have different continents focused on different gameplay aspects, especially with the 'taking over the world' part. :)
That said, we very much discourage creating overly dramatic thread titles, and although I believe you meant well it doesn't really reflect the positive suggestions that are being made in the original post. I am closing this thread but please feel free to continue to discuss more TERA feedback in a constructive way.
While everyone is settling in on the new servers and meeting new friends, we have been working on processing the name appeals as quickly and thoroughly as we can. As previously mentioned on the forums, we had set the time period to submit the name appeals to be at least a week and have been monitoring the incoming flow of the name appeals after the merge.
Currently the amount of incoming appeals has dropped to a fraction of the first few days, so we'd like to announce the deadline for name appeal submissions to one week from today.
Deadline for Name Appeals:
Submitted by 11:59PM PDT, Friday, September 28
Please note that although it may take a few days for the name appeal process to be completed, as long as the appeal is submitted by 11:59PM next Friday (9/28), the submission will be valid.
For more information on the appeal process, please refer to our FAQ pages.
We make the best decision we can considering various factors. Here is the FAQ pages on the name appeal process for more information.
Please remember to be respectful to everyone, I am closing this flame war. If you are not satisfied with the result of the name appeal process, please feel free to submit a Support ticket to express your argument in a constructive way.

Folks, everyone enjoys TERA in different ways but overgeneralizing and dividing us vs. them is not the way to grow or nurture our community. Let's be more respectful to each other and if you see offensive behavior in game, please report it to us.
We've been receiving a lot of great feedback on the event, so we'd like to thank you for sharing them with us. The amount of folks who showed up and met us in Cutthroat Harbor was far beyond our expectations with just several hours of notice, and while it was exciting for us to get a chance to actually meet everyone in game, we are sorry that the event didn't run as smoothly as we planned. This was our first interactive community event after launch and we have learned a lot, and as Chager mentioned already we have adjusted our future event plans based on what we've experienced on Wednesday.
During the event, the quiz questions were a mix of TERA's lore-based questions, real and pop culture-related pirate questions, and pirate riddles. Some of the questions were: What part of Pirate Grotto is named after an animal? Why couldn't the pirates play cards? What pirate later became governor of Jamaica? Etc. The intensity of the competition differed from group to group,we've seen a group that dominated the entire quiz by answering 4+ questions in a row, and we've also had 3 teams go neck and neck against each other until the last tiebreaker question was answered. We are also happy to note that a lot of folks were truly enjoying the spirit of the Speak Like a Pirate Day by constantly offering us (virtual) rum and using the best pirate speak we've heard anywhere.
The improvements we will be working on are based on your feedback and include having more GM's for the event to increase the efficiency and interactiveness (as much as I love seeing everyone in TERA, I still voted against cloning and/or dividing me into multiple Minea's ;) ), setting clearer time limits and expectations, having diverse types of events + times, and most importantly, continuing to hold various events like this.
Thank you again for coming out to Cutthroat Harbor to celebrate the Speak Like a Pirate Day with us and also for your patience. We had a blast and we will see you again soon!
The scrolls are claimed through the in-game Item Claim menu. It is one scroll per day per account, but it is bankable (personal bank) and any character under the account can use it once it is claimed.
If you don't see the scroll in the Item Claim menu please try relogging.
The 50% droprate increase is for all pre level 60 instance dungeons.
If you want to keep up-to-date on where you’ve conquered and whom you’ve defeated, then this is the page for you! Find out which classes are doing the best in battlegrounds with our table below.
We collected this data over the last month. It shows the average (mean) kills, deaths, points earned, and rank for each class. It's an interesting glimpse into how it goes down on the TERA battleground.
Check out the class statistics and other nifty stats on our blog post!
The name appeal process is detailed on the support site: https://tera-support.enmasse.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/497. The most common reason someone loses an appeal up to this point is character creation date. We look at the creation date if both accounts pre-ordered TERA.
For example: "Foo", a level 45 on Dragonfall, was created on April 15th, and "Foo" a level 60 on Frost Reach was created on April 20th. In this scenario "Foo" would go to the level 45 previously on Dragonfall.
To clarify, harassing another person for their character name in game is just like any other form of harassment and can lead to actions against your account.
To clarify, this was one of several 'flash' events that we plan on doing. The focus for these will be smaller player bases and to engage y'all on a personal level. We will have large scale events that the marketing people can help with :) This was meant to be smaller in nature a more casual. However easy or simple these events look, they take a LOT of planning, prep and overtime to execute on, and I'm particularly proud of our guys and the job they did.
That being said we were totally blown away by the community response and the number of players that showed up. We thought by announcing it a few hours before that we would not get the response we did, which was our bad totally. We've taken a lot of great things away from this first event and have already modified our plans for next week's flash events to make it a better player experience and to be able to scale more properly.
Stay tuned for more flash events, and know that we've already learned a ton just from one event and will constantly be tweaking and taking feedback internally and externally to make them better!
The events that we run generally have a primary and secondary targeted player group. As you can see, for the next 2 weekends we're targeting players who would benefit from loot from the 1-59 dungeons. The secondary target is level 60's who are playing instances with cool-down timers (level 59 and below instance essentially have no cool-down).
We'll be doing other events down the road that focus on a wide variety of player groups, including level 60s, PvE users and PvP users. Just because we don't hit your demographic this time around doesn't mean we won't soon! That being said, if you are 60 and have ever thought of rolling an alt, the next few weeks are PRIME alt rolling time...
Also if we're not getting you at a time you normally play don't worry, we're doing a wide variety of events that will encompass all different play times. Again, if we don't hit your specific level range or play times/days with these first few events, we will have events that you can participate in down the road.
Hello again! :) We are working on the prizes but we do have quite a few number of winners with multiple items for each person, so it's taking a bit. Thank you for understanding!
Yep, we definitely did not expect so many folks and were overwhelmed! We will learn from yesterday's experience and improve on events, because we have many more planned!
Build Communities with Friends Old and New (And Get More Loot Too!)
Log in to your new TERA home (the Mount Tyrannas server for PvP or the Tempest Reach server for PvE) during September weekends, group up, and grab some great gear! (And yes, players on the Celestial Hills RP server can participate too!)
See for yourself how things have improved. Group up with old guildies and new friends, then tackle some of TERA’s toughest bosses in the game’s many instances.
Our goal for the next two weekends is to build communities with old and new friends and to experience TERA’s awesome instance content. For levels 1–59, group up and get 50 percent more loot than before! For everyone (especially you level 60s), every day you log in, you’ll get a veteran instance reset scroll, so you can experience more of TERA’s top-level dungeons with guildies and friends.
To get a scroll, log in once per day from 12:01 a.m. PDT Friday through noon Monday. The timer resets at midnight each day. Drop rates increase from noon Friday to noon Monday. Both benefits are active for two weekends: September 21–24 and September 28–October 1.
This event was a first try for us, so thanks to everyone who participated and enjoyed it, and for those who waited but didn't get to experience it we are sorry. Let us know constructively how you think we can improve this going forward. We've already got several ideas to make these events flow better and give access to more people going forward, and the goal is to keep making small changes and tweaks every time so we eventually get to a point where they're fun and enjoyable for everyone.
This is just the beginning and we've got several other events planned that we're already adjusting based on last night to make it better. Also for those who weren't able to make it during those times, don't sweat it. These events are targeted at smaller user groups in a wide variety of times, so if you didn't catch this one there will be more and they will be at different times!
I'm also going to dig into the prizes to make sure everyone gets them (if they haven't already).
Thank you for the feedback. Generally we see people having more time during the weekend, but we understand that it can be a bit disappointing to miss some events. As we hold and plan more events we are always looking for ways to improve them, so it's helpful to know what you guys think. Thanks!
I understand that losing a character name is a frustrating experience, and we are doing everything we can to be fair and transparent with the process. I dug a little deeper into this, and it looks like an error may have been made on our part. It was something that was easy to miss, but it does change things in your case. I'll be contacting you by email in a moment with the details of your appeal.
I'm also going to lock this thread since the issue should now be resolved.
Hello everyone, thank you for your feedback. This was our very first flash event and we had a lot more people show up than we expected or planned for, and we are sorry for the long wait. We have many flash events (events that have very short notice and will run for a short time) and other types of events coming up soon as Chager mentioned in his producer's letter, so we will see you guys again soon! We will also be improving how we run the events based on the feedback we've received and thank you again for coming out for the event. It was really great to actually meet you guys in character!
I reviewed your case and I can definitely understand your frustration. I talked with Harmonia who worked with you through email, and I can see that she did thoroughly go through the appeal process, looking at both your account as well as the account that currently has the name you appealed to us for. I truly do understand how a name can define a character, and I also know that a server merge like the one we just had is going to result in some less than ideal results for some of our players.
I also looked at the chat, and I am not happy at all with the way it was handled. Even if the answer we have to give is no, it should always be done with empathy, and a genuine attempt to find another solution. If a customer asks us for instructions on how to cancel, we will certainly provide the steps for doing so, but the customer should always know that we would much rather they stay than leave. I will be addressing this with the team here.
In closing, I am sorry again that we are not able to get your name back for you. I know that Harmonia recently contacted you again by email, and it is my sincere hope that the contents of her email will cause you to reconsider leaving a game and community you have spent so much time with.
Ahoy, mateys! To give a proper TERA salute to International Talk Like a Pirate Day, we’ll be roundin’ up crews across the world and making sure they know their pirate lingo in our first “flash” event.
Startin’ at two bells (5 p.m. PDT for you landlubbers) Wednesday, September 19 (that's today!), En Masse’s buccaneers will be handin’ out pirate treasure: eye patches, pirate hats, and rubies. Watch for in-game announcements alertin’ ye of the event’s start on each server.
To participate, form a raid group of up to 15 people, head to Cutthroat Harbor, look for Minea, and invite her to join you. She’ll test you to see whether you know your pirate tales (and pirate tails, in the case of popori). Answer her questions (preferably in your best “Arrr-P” voice), and a pirate’s bounty is yours!
Beware, scalawags! This is our first flash community event, so we’re warning you in advance. Future flash events may arrive with no warning. (Pirate voice: the timin’ be arrrbitrary!) When you log in to TERA, anything can happen!
Event specifics
Where: Cutthroat Harbor (near the big shark)
What: Talk Like a Pirate Day Quiz!
How:
Join four other players to form a quiz team, then seek out two additional five-player quiz teams
(your competition) and form a raid group. Once all 15 of you are in the same raid, invite Minea to join your raid group (she’ll be your 16th!) and prepare to be quizzed!
Designate a speaker for your quiz team to answer questions on your behalf
(that’s a total of three speakers per raid group).
Your team should whisper your answers to each other. When you settle on a final answer, your designated speaker tells it to Minea.
The first speaker to answer the question correctly receives a point for their team.
Minea will ask you up to seven questions to determine a winning team.
When a team wins by earning enough points to beat out their opponents, Minea will note the winners and move on to the next raid group.
Prizes
Each member of a winning quiz team receives a pirate hat, an eye patch, and a ruby worth 100 gold!
Yesterday's merge maintenance went smoothly and we opened the new servers on scheduled time. Merges are a technical and complicated process where we do extensive testing, but unfortunately there were unexpected bugs regarding the NPC summon scrolls given out as a prize for reaching level 60 in August.
When we implemented a fix for the bug today, not all of the items reverted back correctly. Although this is an unintended bug, we want to make sure our players don't lose their items because of that.
For one week starting today, you can enter the following code to redeem the ruby rim glasses in My Account menu. These are character-bound, but any character within your account will be able to redeem it from the Item Claim menu. Additionally, after you claim the glasses on one character, you may re-enter the code again to claim it on another character for all of your characters.
Another thing to note is that unlike the NPC scrolls, we also made this code available to everyone including those who did not reach level 60 by the Argon Queen patch release.
Thank you for your patience and see you all in TERA!
MODERATOR'S NOTE: Please do not use the forums for "calling out" other users or En Masse Entertainment staff in the title or content of a thread or post. Closing.

You can pick a temporary random name to log in and continue playing while waiting for the name appeal process to go through. We currently have a backlog of support cases we are working on so it may take a while. :)
As mentioned, this was purely due to an item bug and we will be changing them back to the original items. But that doesn't mean you won't see them again sometime in the future. :)
Have you checked all of its pages (page 2, 3, etc.)? Some of my items were in on page 2. Also relogging may help, it sounds similar to this thread from earlier.
They will go on for at least a week minimum, we are monitoring the incoming flow of the appeals and will make announcements when there is an update. :)
There may be items left on your character in the costuming portion. You will have to either bank it or get CS to remove it. After that, that character will be deletable.
If it is a clear case of someone namegrabbing vs. legitimate character, we will try our best to help out. Please submit a ticket but we are currently seeing quite a bit of incoming support requests, so it may take a few hours or even days.
@Psibermonkey, I left this post for you in the other thread. You can enter the world if you just put one character in the 7-day waiting time and you can cancel the deletion.
Minea on 09/18/2012, 03:32 PM
Guys, like I mentioned, there is a 7-day waiting period for any character that is level 6 or higher so that you can use it to sort out the inventory space.
Once you put a character in the 7-day waiting period, it will not count as one of the 8 character slots and you will be able to enter the world.
Our recommendation was to organize the items before the merge to avoid the hassle.. ^_^;;
If you can't use the above method, please contact our Support team for help.
Since the name appeal process criteria will decide whether the name is given or not (i.e. it's not how quickly the appeal was received by the Support team), there is no extra reason to wait in chat..

Any level 6 and above character you 'delete' will be put into a 7-day waiting period, so please utilize this to sort out the inventory/bank.
After you sort it out and decide the one character to delete, you will be able to delete that character and get the other one out of the 7-day waiting period by canceling the deletion process.
A more detailed information was a part of this thread.
*snip*
Character Slots and 7-day Timer for Level 6+ Characters
If you have more than 8 characters, you will need to choose 8 characters you wish to keep. There is no timer to delete the character that are level 5 or lower, but characters with higher levels will be put under a 7-day timer. If you have items that you want to keep on the extra characters, you can utilize the 7-day timer to organize inventory space and gold. You can put the level 6 and up character you want to keep under the 7-day timer, and log into the character you won’t be using in the future to transfer items/gold. After you’ve sorted them out, you can log out to the character screen, delete the character you won't be using, then cancel the 7-day timer for the character you actually want to keep. As long as the extra characters are under the 7-day timer or are already deleted, you will be able to log in and play.
Still, we encourage everyone to sort everything out before the merge to avoid unnecessary work and confusion on the day of merge, and since the characters will be gone after the 7-day timer.
Guys, if you have questions on moderation action please contact the moderator or me. Although this thread is certainly not intended to be disruptive, it is against the forum rules to discuss moderation. :)
I'm going to close this thread as it has run its course and goodbye threads are against the forum rules. Help us improve TERA by giving us constructive feedback, it's definitely more helpful.
We are making some changes to the server forums to reflect the new servers and their names.

You guys brought up a great point, we will be lowering the level requirement to apply for the name appeal process to level 30. We are currently working to update our FAQ to reflect these changes. Thank you. :)
If someone 'steals' your name, then this section of the FAQ should be relevant:
Q: What if my name was taken due to trolling?
A: If you believe that your name has been taken by someone attempting to troll you, please do not hesitate to contact support. If you believe someone purposefully took your previous name with the sole intention to troll you, then we will research and rectify the situation. Please contact support.

Things are speeding up around the En Masse office! We’re working on making this fall a season that TERA players won’t forget, and part of that effort is transforming ourselves to be quicker to react to our players and our game. By constantly tweaking things we do, we give players a better experience. For example, we just released the Argon Queen update, our first major content patch. In it, we introduced several new endgame instances and the much-heralded battlegrounds. And that’s just the start of our rapid-fire progress.
The weeks since the Argon Queen update have been especially jam-packed: everything from Bluehole Studio visits and weeklong meetings to in-game content plans, events, and more. In time-honored producer tradition, I always allude to these busy plans but never reveal what we’re working on. Let me go against that tradition this time and just tell you what we’re working on.
Adding Content to TERA
Content? We’ve got that coming too! Crafting quests are coming back next week, the long-awaited berserker patch will arrive shortly after that, and we’re rebalancing instances and adding new achievements. We’re also making significant changes to enchanting based on player feedback—changes we’ll roll out over the course of a few builds later this fall (more specifics on this as we confirm changes). Another large content update (similar in size to Argon Queen) is in the works, but if I go into any more detail, I may not make it back for the next producer letter.
We’ve also been working closely with BHS on a few larger projects related to TERA—projects we plan to bring to you this year as well. I will be updating you regularly on these as we make more headway, get certain plans in place...and I’m allowed to talk about them.
I see a lot of exciting things on the horizon for TERA, and everyone in the office is hard at work bringing that horizon closer, not only because we’re committed to TERA, but also because we’re gamers. Nothing’s more exciting than seeing TERA evolve and become even better.
We are currently performing the merge maintenance as scheduled. During the maintenance hours, we will also be opening the new server forums that reflect the new server choices and names.
Please note that we will be closing the old server forums tomorrow (9/19) at 12PM PDT.
Opening New Server Forums During Maintenance
New PvE server: Tempest Reach
New PvP server: Mount Tyrannas
Please wrap up your discussions in the old servers, and we encourage you to use this time to get to know the new neighbors and make new friends!
The TERA forums will remain open and operate normally during the maintenance and Celestial Hills (RP PvE) forum will remain as is.
You can create a new character during the 7-day waiting period to delete a character. The characters in the waiting period won't count as a one for the character slots. This is done so that people can utilize the waiting period to sort their inventory slots/character slots after the merge.
Whoever has a name conflict (aka there is more than 1 person with the name on the server), both of their names will be changed. The next name change process is first come first serve, but we have a name appeal process in place to help people keep their old names. Here is more information on character names.
We wanted to stay away from overcomplicating the merge just in case unforeseen issues arise, but we have more plans for this month. You'll hear more soon!
I know there's going to be a lot of complaints over assists being worth more than deaths, no points for caps, etc... So here's the reasoning.
The classes that can kill, also rack up assists, but not as much as the assist classes. The classes that assist, have a real hard time killing (mostly because they are trying to assist you Mr. DPS). Also, you do not get an assist just by tagging your opponent and running away. You have to be actively assisting your team in some fashion at the time and place of the kill.
We felt that capping was too easily gamed and by incorporating that into the score it would encourage it even more so. But in the end, we still want to reward teamwork to a degree, and that's why we kept +/- points for winning and losing. If you treat wins/losses like bonus kills/deaths, it is still in your best interest to win. And how do you do that? By helping your team get the objectives (capping, killing, defending etc...). There's a strong correlation with competitors with great K/D/A ratios and high W/L records, and I think there's a reason for that.
We will continue to monitor how things go with this new system in this new season, so please realize that this isn't the end all of BG scoring. We did realize that what we had previously was flawed and changes had to be made. We've ran different scoring systems on the current data, and this current system is the one that we felt rewarded players the best for their skills. Players with high K/D/A and mediocre W/L were able to get into the top 100. And the distribution of classes among the top 100 was pretty even as well (and yes, even amongst the top 10). Is it perfect? No, but hopefully a step in the right direction.
Server merge day is tomorrow, and we’ve got the official patch notes to answer any questions you may have. Before you head to your new TERA home, give them a glance to learn how the merge affects the political system, battleground leaderboards, character deletion, and more.
Once you’re caught up on how the server merge will affect you, check out info on the Fraywind Canyon battleground scoring changes!
Your characters will be there but there are 8 character slots per each server (24 total slots available for 3 servers), so you may have to do some reorganization of inventory/characters.
Feel free to check out the FAQ page (linked in the original post), it contains a lot of additional information you may be looking for. :)
Along with the merge we will be implementing some BG score tweaks based on the feedback we've gotten. The increased nexus times and crafting quests are currently under testing so they didn't make it to the merge maintenance, but it should still hit in September. The details on the BG score tweaks will be published next week in the patch notes.
(Will add this information to the original post shortly)
The reasons behind the merge decision have been stated in Chager's letter and reiterated in several of my posts. (Please view my post history and there are multiple posts around this topic a few pages back, between page 5-8 or so.)
Reporting for bad in-game behavior is the best way to deal with problematic players, and we do take action against them. Sometimes it may not be immediate, but we review all reports and take appropriate action.
Let's get back to the topic (server names and maintenance) please.
There will be a store email system maintenance this Sunday (9/16) from 1:00 AM to 9:00 AM PDT, for approximately 8 hours. During this maintenance, the En Masse store-related order confirmation emails will be put in a queue until the end of maintenance. All queued emails will be sent to you automatically after the maintenance, without any action required on your part. This maintenance only impacts the store-related confirmation emails and will not impact the ability to purchase from En Masse store.
Scheduled Store Email System Maintenance
Date: September 16, 2012 Hours: For approximately 8 hours starting at 1:00 AM Pacific Time Affected Email Notifications: En Masse Store-related emails (order confirmations)
We will be performing a maintenance to merge servers on Tuesday, September 18 at 9:00 AM Pacific Time. All PvP and PvE servers will be taken down from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM PDT.
After the maintenance hours, we will be opening the following servers:
Hello, everyone! We've been working to make sure everything goes smoothly for next week and have more news to share with you regarding the server merge.
First, we have the server names for the PvE and PvP servers.
New PvE server: Tempest Reach New PvP server: Mount Tyrannas
Tempest Reach and Mount Tyrannas are both located in Westonia, and they are known for the beautiful landscape covered with ice and snow. (Winter is coming!)
Another news we have is the maintenance hours during the server merge.
Maintenance hours: 9:00AM - 3:00PM PDT on Tuesday, September 18 (6 hours)
These hours are to have the servers prepared and ready for the most traffic while making sure we have enough time to make the maintenance go as smoothly as possible.
The new servers will create a more vibrant and active community and we look forward to seeing you there!
Serpentis Isle was briefly unavailable this morning and like you said that was the cause of the closed stores as they need to be manually opened. :( We're in the process of manually opening them all back up, it will be just be a few more minutes, thank you for your patience!
Hey guys, after we disabled the political system last evening to prepare for the server merge, we went back to manually enable all of the specialty vendors. Because this is done manually for every zone and server it takes a little while.
Here is the FAQ page on the specialty item vendors on this, and here is the quote from the pinned topic above.
Minea on 09/12/2012, 06:21 PM
*snip*
Next Political Cycle Will Begin Next Week
We will be disabling the political system at 6PM PDT tomorrow (Thursday, 9/13/12). This is to prevent the new registration period kicking in on Friday as we prepare for the server merges next week. We will be actively refunding the gold and Catharnach awards for the current vanarchs since their term got cut short, and the uncollected taxes will be mailed automatically.
Another point to note is that until new vanarchs are elected, we will manually enable all vanarch vendors in all zones for your convenience.
Celestial Hills is included in these changes so that all servers will have the same political cycles.
The political system on Celestial Hills will reset along with other servers and the reason we are doing this is to keep all of the servers on the same political cycle.
And you will have enough time to apply for the name appeal process, We want to monitor the incoming flow but it will at least be a week and we will also give you guys an update with a deadline.
(There are several of the replies that are not following the rules and are resulting to personal attacks and dragging this thread to off-topic. Stick to the thread topic and do not derail. Express your opinions in a constructive way that respect others please. Last warning.)
Our main goal is to protect people from their names being taken by others who've not had that name before. So for example:
1. Gandalf from server A and Gandalf from server B come to the same server and have a name conflict.
2. Gandalf from server A claims the name Gandalf.
3. Frodo from the Shire server A and Frodo from server B come to the same server too.
4. Gandalf from server B claims the name Frodo before either Frodo's can claim their name.
5. Both of the Frodo's appeal for their names.
6. One of the Frodo's will get the name Frodo. Which Frodo will get the name is dependent on various factors of the name appeal process.
7. Gandalf from server B who took the name Frodo will have to choose a new name because there are others who've had characters named Frodo before the merge.
Hey guys, as pointed out by other folks, the server merge will help with grouping with others and generate more stable and robust economy and gameplay environment. (You can read more about the reasons behind here.)
Let's create a constructive and more specific thread titles and content so that we can concentrate on improving the game please. (Also let's stay on topic.)
Our Support team should be more than happy to help you. You can chat with them right now. :)
(I'll lock this thread since we usually frown upon necro'ed threads - last post was early April, but as mentioned, the Support team is the only folks who can help with in-game stuff.)
We haven't announced the exact hour yet because the final decision hasn't been made. But we'll make sure to update you guys once we have the information!
The free server transfers between Celestial Hills and PvE server will remain open and free. PvP to PvE transfer is something that we'd like to do but we don't have a solid execution plan yet.
(And a warning for some repliers in this thread: No derailing the thread please.)
A quick clarification, we have different types of staff posters, some mostly moderate (with the 'moderator' tag), and some spend some of their time to share more information with everyone on the forums (Treeshark, Chager, knoxxer, etc.). Of course some overlap and can/will do both (like me). Also GM's don't post on the forums often because they usually deal with in-game-related support. This will help distinguishing the posts when using the dev tracker to follow new updates from En Masse.
We understand that you guys want game news but sometimes we don't have them yet, We've shared multiple posts about the upcoming feature highlights in the next patch in General Discussions before and we plan to do the same thing with the patch that will arrive sometime in September and future events. But at the moment we are focusing on the server merges. And the changes we've made, creating separate PvP, PvE, and RP servers to begin with were done based on the community feedback. It's not really fair or true to say that the game hasn't been improving when there are so many patches published after launch and there have been hotfixes within a day or two. There will be some changes that impact multiple aspects of the game and that is something that we can't do fast or lightly because TERA is a game that is published in many different regions and we are not the only territory with needs/wants, so we keep on working on them however/whenever we can. One example would be nexus, which we've been wanting to have more but wasn't able to because it was giving too much gold reward back into the economy than it was healthy to do so. We've been working on it for a while and will be increasing the frequencies in the upcoming content patch.
Now that's out of the way, it's okay to not care for the game guides and say so, but it needs to be done in a constructive and respectful manner. Some people really need a reminder on the Rules of Conduct and the Official Forum Rules.
Guys, for nexus we will have more during weekdays and earlier times to accommodate more people with different schedules and spread them out. The exact times are not finalized yet, but we will be sure to given update.
If that level 1 character has been active after the OBT, and it gets your name first, you can appeal. Then it will be decided according to several factors. (We'll publish them after the server merge so people don't try to abuse them.)
Obviously first come first serve is not everything. Even if someone else takes it first, if you meet the appeal criteria you can get it back.
We have created a name appeal process that will help folks who are concerned with the character and guild names. We will publish the criteria after the server merge to prevent potential abusing, but please be assured that there will be an appeal process where this concern will be addressed based on several factors.
Also if there is no name conflict for your name, it will stay the same.
Hello, folks! As we work towards next week's server merges, we have more details on some of the most asked questions and new information to share. We will continue to update you as more become available. We are excited for the positive changes it will create and our ability to be more interactive with our community.
In addition, the server merge process will free up the dormant names that have not been used since Open Beta Test. We also have a comprehensive FAQ page on server merges for quick and easy answers.
Name Appeal Process & Cosmetic Items
We have created a name appeal process that will help folks who are concerned with the character names. We will publish the criteria after the server merge to prevent potential abusing, but please be assured that there will be an appeal process where this concern will be addressed based on several factors. As for the cosmetic items on extra characters outside of the 8 character slots, we want to do what's fair and right, and will handle these on case by case basis with our Support team.

Known Issues
On the character select screen, sometimes the nameplate of a character shifts its location or fall off from the designated spot above the character’s head. But it does not have a functional impact such as preventing the character from entering the world, etc.
When replying to an in-game mail, the player cannot write a message back to the sender if the sender has changed his/her name. Parcels will be received correctly and COD’s will work as well.
As it has been explained, the event swimsuits were free and temporary (dropped in the game world and tradable) while the permanent swimsuits could be purchased during the Suit Up For Summer event and a few days after that.
Let me close this thread now that the question has been answered. And please, let's keep all posts respectful and on topic. It will also help if the question is asked in a clearer way. :)
I think there is a confusion on what this section is used for. These are notifications of news and announcements for the TERA website or the game, and it will cater to all different types of users depending on the category of the news. There are folks who are interested in the background story and more specific information on quests, factions, notable BAM's, etc., and as the official website is the only place to get such detailed and comprehensive information on these we will continue to share more information on the world of TERA.
We of course share other types of information here too, including all of the upcoming patch notes and events. I must remind you all that we are currently working on the server merges (scheduled for next week), fall events and game improvements as mentioned in Producer's Letter and there will be announcements for those as well.
We will be performing a server restart for Basilisk Crag on Wednesday, September 12 at 9:45 AM Pacific time. Basilisk Crag will be unavailable from 9:45 AM to 10:00 AM PDT.
We will be restarting Basilisk Crag to address a quest-related issue.

We will continue to work on improving TERA and we appreciate the feedback! We understand enchanting is causing frustration for our community but please know that sometimes tweaking a system that has impact on other big pieces of the game such as in-game economy takes a while so that we can avoid unforeseen side effects.
That said, when creating a thread, please use a title that is constructive and non-disruptive to the community. Thanks!
Unfortunately this has the same reasoning behind increasing the logged in time. Because the En Masse account and forums share the login, we think it'd be more prudent and safer to keep it as is. This is why you see separate forum accounts and game accounts sometimes. We've thought about that option too and that is still not completely off the table yet but this option is on hold until we investigate how we can achieve the convenience without decreasing security from the current state.
Minea on 08/17/2012, 05:52 PM
We looked into making our login sessions longer, but we always want to be on the more cautious side when it comes to security, so we aren't actively working to increase the time for now. As you guys are know, we use single sign-on mechanism for our forums and currently the regular time out is set to 4 hours. But we are aware of our community's wish we will continue to think about this.
We are also working on getting the official fansite kit on our official page, we are going through QA testing because we had a download problem.
There are different types of events and the community team is responsible for organizing and cooperating all departments of En Masse for them. Depending on the type of events it may only need a few people's help or many different departments and Bluehole Studio as well. Also the community team doesn't write game guides. Our wonderful writers do. :)
And En Masse does not control what other region's publisher does.
The main focus of the community team is to make sure you guys are heard so that we can continue to improve TERA and its community.
The Invalesco are an elite group of Mysterium researchers whose sole mission is to defeat the argons. These are no ordinary researchers—they’re doing “field studies” in an active war zone. The Invalesco are soldiers of science. They use their minds to fight the war with the argons, and you can help them by offering your smarts, strength, battle skills, and agility. Get to know this TERA faction. They’ll make it worth your while.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are always working on improving TERA by delivering our community's feedback. While we are working on our guides we are also working with Bluehole Studio to address the issues that are brought up by the community as well. Unfortunately not all of the issues are a simple fix (especially for such a system like enchanting that will have an impact on gear items, game difficulty, economy, etc.) but we are doing our best to better TERA, not to mention these guides can be helpful to other users - There is no other place you can get this in-depth information.
(Also when giving us feedback, it's always helpful to note even the obvious reasons because there can be different reasons behind the same request. Thanks!)
Hey all. We get words in our game that don't accompany anything that is actually substantive. (there are varying reasons for this) Sometimes it materializes, sometimes it doesn't. So when we fix text, we just fix everything (because it's easier). It was a mistake on our part for this to come through on the patch notes.
So no, we are not hoarding/disabling any mystic skills. Or any skills for that matter. I hope this clarifies everything.
Thank you for sharing thoughts with us. Please direct your suggestions for in-game moderation via the Support system and forum moderation suggestions to me. I understand the good will behind this thread and encourage everyone to keep reporting offensive behavior so that we can take appropriate action. But this thread has derailed into attacks on others' preferences and discussing moderation action is against the forum rules. :(
This was only a text change. For example, when the mystic was casting the warding totem, it was being called the "spiritual energy of protection". Now when you cast the warding totem, it will be called "Warding Totem".
We are aware that there will be edge cases like this one and we will share more information as we finalize the details. At this time I don't have an answer to the question except that we are still internally discussing the edge cases.
Please continue to discuss this topic in the designated, pinned thread on top, so that we can track the feedback better as we have been using the thread to update everyone too.
(And guys, be nice. Personal attacks are a no no.)
@OP, I'm sorry that you are dissatisfied with the issue. We also accept feedback on our Support experiences, so please feel free to share your feedback via support tickets should you feel the need to do so and we will take a look.
Let's carry on with this discussion in the pinned thread above please. it's where we are consolidating all of the feedback so that we can keep track of them and use it for easier updating.
As we've mentioned, we really do understand how people feel about their names are are internally discussing how to finalize the name change details. (I personally use the same/similar name for every game I play with as little variation as possible and I pre-order for the games I'm waiting for.)
These are the things that are a bit more complicated and we will share more information with everyone when we have finalize the details.
In the meantime, let's consolidate all of our feedback in the designated thread (pinned in General Discussions here) as requested in the original post. That way it is easier for us and everyone to keep track of the comments.
(Also I'd like to leave a reminder that creating an alternate forum account is against the Official TERA forum rules.)
Hello folks, just wanted to pop in again to remind everyone that not all of the details have been finalized yet. This includes the character names, time of the merge on the day, and the cosmetic items. We will share more information with you as they become available. But as you know we've been tracking and hearing your thoughts and we understand what the concerns are.
As for more people on the servers, it will help with getting the items you need (whether it's gear or ingredients), find groups easier in LFG and the queue times will be shorter as the matching system will utilize all server types. We also have more nexus plans later this month with weekdays and earlier times while the channels will help spread people in world zones. Like Chager's letter has pointed out, we will be able to grow a stronger community through more interactive events.
Normally, we close old chats that have been re-opened. But to show you that this is being moderated, I wrote a note first. If you have suggestions on how we can improve the filtering, we would be glad to know.
Have a nice day.

We always try very hard to not make a promise on the date until we're pretty sure.. Sometimes we try for a certain date but it gets pushed due to an unforeseen issue coming up in the middle or a previous work not being done by the deadline.. So we'd rather not have everyone excited for a date until we are pretty sure it will happen on the set date. We're coordinating with Bluehole Studio and will let you guys know, so hang in there! :)
Folks, the reason we've come to this decision have been noted in Chager's letter and they are not to save operational costs. It also notes that how we've come to the decision is by looking at the statistics such as data on in-game economy and availability of items people need to advance in game content.
And if you've seen any of the locked threads, you would know that I am answering the questions on topic and redirecting all of the discussions to the designated thread where we are aggregating all of the feedback so that we and everyone can keep track of all of the feedback on topic, as requested in the pinned thread. If you check my post history you'll see that I've been giving the most number of updates in that thread too.
We request you to continue the discussion in pinned thread above.
We will keep on working to improve TERA and we have specific plans to invite more folks to try TERA, and it will give us the ability to hold events that are more interactive than we've ever done before!
(Let's keep the merge-related discussions in the designated thread on top so that it is easier for us and everyone else to keep track of all the feedback we are getting. Thank you.)
We will have the regular maintenance for maintenance purposes and the in-game text changes tomorrow morning.
The increased nexus times and crafting quests will come with our content patch this month, I will be sure to give a date when we have a solid date set!
As mentioned multiple times, all of the details on the character names have not been finalized and we'll share more information with you as they become available and that we know how names are important (especially for folks like me who use the same/similar names over and over again).
(This part is now added to the original post. :) )
The reason we've given this news is because we wanted to share this news as early as possible to let everyone know and to start preparations.
Guys, as Chager mentioned in his Producer's Letter, we looked at the metrics and came to the conclusion that this will provide a positive boost to create healthy economy and game experience. We have more nexus times coming and channels will help, and if our servers are bursting with people so they cannot contain them all, there is always an option to open a new server. We aren't saying we will always have these three servers no matter what happens for eternity, so we always have that option but we really believe this will be beneficial for all of the reasons pointed out in the letter.
(Let's continue this topic in the pinned thread above so that we can keep the dialogue going and it will be easier for us to keep track of what's being said.)
If you've got an email with a chance to visit back, that will work for existing characters. The new 7-day trial users also get the option to upgrade their trial to full game at the end of the trial.
The focus of Chager's PD letter was to give everyone information on the server merge we're planning and we decided to give you guys as much time as possible to prepare. We will have more detailed information going forward as we finalize all the details and the game updates will be provided separately. :)
(We'll be increasing the availability of nexus times and the crafting quests will return later this month.)
Both of what others have suggested (trying out the 7-day trial to test the gameplay on your computer and contacting the Support team for advice) are excellent ideas!
As we've posted multiple times, we are still finalizing how exactly we will be handling the edge cases and will share more information with you as they become available.
One great way to quickly see the latest posts I've made is to click on my name on the left side and "View Posts" and there is also a good 3rd party tracking site.
One of the reasons we are consolidating the merge-related discussions in the pinned thread is to keep everyone in the loop and distribute information more quickly.
These few paragraphs in the Producer's Letter explain why we've made the decision:
"Fall is a season of changes, and the world of TERA is going to be busy for the next few months. First on the list of change is our server status. We’ve got several metrics to measure server activity—and many of ours are below the mark. We’ve also been listening to the issues our players have been having in the game: lack of resources, lack of groups, extended wait times for dungeons, and so on. We feel that the best way to address these problems is to increase the number of simultaneous players on our servers. To that end, we will be merging servers on September 18, 2012.
Where some might look on this as a negative, I feel differently. By combining our servers, we facilitate a more unified community and give players a more full, alive world where finding groups, locating rare items (for lower prices!), and getting into dungeons quickly are the norm. Most importantly, combined servers will allow us to run more regular, player-focused events where we get to interact with our players. You can find a link to our detailed FAQ regarding this process at the bottom of this letter. It will be updated further as we get more information.
The fall also brings with it a host of other changes, all aimed at providing a kick-[filtered] experience for our players. By the end of September, you’ll be able to participate in our player-focused events and interact with TERA team members. September leads to October—and our Halloween events. Other plans include a battlegrounds tournament in November and a holiday in-game event during the winter months to help us end 2012 with a bang. Along with this focus on player engagement and events, we’ll also be having several content updates throughout the fall."
Help us keep the discussion in the designated thread above so that we can share more information faster, instead of everyone starting a separate thread on the same topic.
Jerry pretty much covered the information I've wanted to point out. :)
We are working on lag but it wasn't due to the size or quality of the hardware, it is a bit more complicated. A bit more information on the different kinds of lag we are chasing down is in this thread, just in case you missed it.
Let's continue all merge-related discussions in the pinned thread above. :)
We will always have the option of opening more servers if it becomes necessary, it's the other way around that's harder. You guys know we'll be poring over the statistics to see how things go.
As I've mentioned, we've looked at statistics and to create a robust in-game economy (not just in terms of gear item prices but also availability of ingredients, etc.) we have made the decision to merge the servers to PvE, PvP, and RP PvE. We are working on increasing nexus availabilities later this month and automatic increase of channels according to how many characters there are in a zone will help with being too crowded while queue times will also be shorter for group activities.
We really understand our community's concerns with the names and we will share more information on how the edge cases will be handled when we have the finalized information. A lot of the inactive names from OBT will also be purged during this time since they won't be updated with a new name when the previous server tag is added to the name. (A bit more information on how this will happen on the FAQ)
We will be merging into new servers to create a more unified community.
As mentioned, FAQ pages will have lots of answers and we will provide more information as they become available. In the meantime please carry on with the discussion in the pinned thread.
It is under internal discussion but we will be sure to provide an update as it becomes available! Yes, we understand how we all are attached to our names. :)
I ask that we keep the related discussions in the pinned thread so that my replies can be seen by more people, thank you.
I'm going to quote myself from another thread since this also shares the same general concerns on names.
"We understand your sentiment (because we all worked hard to get our names) and will share more information once we figure out how exactly it will happen as this is still under internal discussion. We will be continuing to give you guys more updates but we wanted to let you guys know first so that we can start making preparations as suggested in the FAQ page.
Let's keep the discussions to the pinned thread so we can have one consolidated feedback thread."

We've done some calculations and the increase of server population should be boost healthy economy and game experience. We're working to increase the nexus frequencies later this month as well.
Let's consolidate the discussion into the pinned thread above, folks.
We are closely monitoring this thread to see what you guys are saying, and we understand the concerns. Later this month we have plans to increase the nexus availabilities so that we will have weekday spots also, and as you know TERA has different channels which will help with the surge of people. And we know that everyone wants to keep their names (we all do too, especially if you're like me who continue to use similar names across servers/games for years), so we will be sure to give you more specific information as they become available.
Old thread was locked while I was letting the people who posted in the old thread know I will be replacing it with a new one (so that they aren't alarmed). Sorry about that, Diver! And of course, I encourage you to repost this in the pinned thread. :)
We are still under internal discussion on how exactly to handle edge cases for names, but we'll be sure to update you as more information becomes available.
The instance matching system will utilize all servers (I can't remember about the battlegrounds at the moment).
We will have more and more detailed information on the merges going forward. We wanted to give you as much time as possible to be prepared and get excited for more people to play with, cheaper prices at the broker and generally more interaction with us. You can subscribe to the FAQ page so that you will be notified automatically by clicking on the "Notify me when this answer is updated" link at the bottom of the page.
Fall is fast approaching, and it’s been four months since TERA launched. I always think things will slow down post launch, but I’m always wrong—we’ve been working nonstop since launch day. Continuous improvements, game updates every two weeks, battlegrounds, new instances, in-game events, and a lot of behind-the-scenes work have kept the TERA team on their toes. A few quick stats to whet the appetite of you data-hungry people:
• You’ve created more than 2.5 million characters since OBT.
: Most popular class: warrior (18.1 percent of total characters created)
: Next closest: sorcerer (14.9 percent)
: Most popular race: castanic (22.7 percent)
: Next closest: human (22.5 percent)
• You’ve formed more than 14,000 guilds.
: More than 1,000 vanarch candidates to date.
• The Island of Dawn has claimed 363,111 player deaths. (Rest in peace, newbies.)
• A kumas demon has claimed the top player-killing title, slaughtering more than a quarter-million souls and only dying 63,141 times. What a jerk.

Our plan is to have regular interviews and introduce different fansites and guilds to show community's appreciation. Of course other guilds will be featured next time and the criteria on how we select a guild may or may not change every time. Basically what I'm saying is being the biggest or the most popular fansite/guild may not be why it is being featured for the particular interview and there will be more interviews coming up in the future.
For this specific interview, Nagas Stole My Bacon has been a successful and helpful vanarch guild led by a GM who has created numerous videos and guides for TERA community, as mentioned in the beginning of the article.
Quote from another thread:

To prevent potential confusion, I've clarified by adding the word "content" patch to the original post with the edit note. More nexus times and crafting quests are planned for sometime in September, but we may do smaller tweaks that does not require a new build before that.

Known on the forums for helpful guides, such as Eziel's Lancer Guide, and running the guild Nagas Stole My Bacon, Eziel answered some questions for us about how it all came about and where their guild is going next.
1. How did you hear about TERA, and why did you decide to play?
I was looking for a new game to play after being out of the MMO scene for seven years. I came literally five seconds from clicking the purchase button of another MMO, but decided to do one more look and came across a link for TERA closed beta 1 that weekend. I gave it a try, and I was instantly hooked on the action combat. I was into TERA so much, I asked my wife (who has never played an MMO) to give it a shot in closed beta 3. It is nice having my special someone to quest and play TERA with.
2. Tell us about your guild and its history.
Our guild is a very social, laid-back guild. The only rule of our guild is “Play TERA and have fun!” We participate in all aspects of TERA, including dungeons, questing, world boss hunting, battlegrounds, random events—and before nexus raids we organized and led the nexus battles on Feral Valley. We have a very good core of 15–20 regular players and 20 casual players. After playing with many guilds since closed beta 1 and seeing them all implode or fall apart, I decided to start a guild with my wife (Belle.Gunness) so that we could have extra bank room for our inventory. We came across some really awesome players that we hung around with and decided to join up to have fun. Then came the exciting part: deciding on a name together. My wife wanted to name us just “Bacon,” and I have no clue why everyone liked it so much. I suggested we make it entertaining—that something or someone stole it. The group came up with the idea the “Nagas Stole My Bacon.” You can read the in-depth story on the Feral Valley section of the forums.
3. What’s a typical day/night like in Nagas Stole My Bacon?
Right now our members are focused on one thing: battlegrounds. We have numerous members ready to jump in to battlegrounds at any time. We’ve had a few rare instances where we were teamed against each other, and it turns into a 10- to 15-minute friendly trash-talk session. We take time out of our days to get our non-60 level players past areas with alts or use our higher levels to give them the support they need to get past those BAM or dungeon areas that can be troublesome if they need it. If you jumped into our communications app, you’d hear anything from music to people quoting movies, songs, comedic skits, or karaoke. We have some very colorful characters, and a lot of these members become much more than acquaintances, and that is the extraordinary thing I love about any MMO: getting to meet new people and become friends in RL.
4. What has been the most difficult experience with the guild? Most rewarding?
Managing a guild with limited tools in game. Guild masters have to become proficient in finding new tools outside of the game to keep things running smoothly, and it causes communication issues at times on what is going on. A lot of players don’t like websites, and others don’t like voice chat systems. But everyone has to use the game, and we as guild masters need a much better system to communicate with our guild members on a daily basis and provide permissions for officers/members.
I never imagined I would lead a successful guild in TERA. I figured it might be a small group of friends or just me and my wife in a guild. Many players have come into our guild and have left to do more extraordinary things. Giving back to the community of TERA with guides, videos, and a place people can come learn to play the game with other players that take the time to help them. I know all the members of the Nagas (our short guild name) feel a sense of pride and reward in giving to others.
5. What plans do you have for the guild in the future?
We’re going to continue to do what we are doing. Enjoy the game of TERA as long as we can. We are also working on a project to show the commerce of Ostagarth for our first vanarch cycle—it will be very interesting. We’re also running for our second cycle for Vanarch for Ostagarath, and I know we’ll be just as successful as we were last cycle. So if you’re on Feral Valley, vote “Nagas Stole My Bacon” for Arun.
Thanks, Eziel, for taking the time to tell us what’s up with your guild. Keep chasing that bacon!
We were looking at the economy data and nexus was providing more gold than we'd like. I can't confirm 100% yet but I believe the only rewards adjustment is on the amount of gold.
We are planning various events for this year and although we haven't made a final decision yet, we are aware of our community's demand for crystals. :)
As for enchanting, this is a bigger piece that we've been working on for a while, but as you know this is a lot more complicated for all of the aspects of the game and all of its territories. But we know it is causing frustration in community and want to improve it.
We will have more nexus times including weekdays + earlier hours and the crafting quests will be back in our next patch in September. We've been working on adjusting the rewards so that we can increase the nexus frequencies. (Like Fatwa said, we've been discussing using emails, meetings, late evening/early morning conference calls, regular calls, Face Times, etc. ^_^)
Sorry for the confusion from the lack of in-game announcements, guys. It was a mishap on our part and we've taken measures prevent this from happening again. :(
Thank you, OP. Some of us have been playing TERA for 2+ years and we still play during lunch hours and at home (to our family's disapproving glances - but we make sure to remember birthdays and anniversaries most of the time xD). We will continue to listen to our community's feedback and work on improving TERA. Whether it be small tweaks that can be fixed within a short amount of time or big changes to the entire system that takes longer than a month or two, we are collaborating with BHS to make the necessary changes to make TERA better and we will have more information on the next patch for September on the forums as they become finalized.
That said, let's keep TERA's constructive feedback/suggestions themselves and discussion of non-TERA and non-En Masse Entertainment commercial products away from the forums.
The many point and credit systems associated with Battlegrounds are under constant evaluation. Currently, all the ways of scoring and earning points achieve different things (winning, individual scoring for credits, BG rankings), but are balanced against each other. The worst thing we could do at this point is to re-haul how everything works with only 8 days of playing, and pray that we're right. However, the best thing you all can do is continue to be constructive on the ups and downs of the current system so we can take your opinions to go along with the data.
If we do plan on making changes, they will be communicated.
Sometimes suggestions can't be implemented or they take a while, and we cannot answer to every question/suggestion. That doesn't mean we aren't reading or trying to improve the game for our community. Please be assured that we are. Look at the patch notes in the last 3 months, we've been working hard to get the stuff we can get done as quickly as possible. Look at the dev tracker, we've been trying to communicate more with you guys. The patch highlights thread, posts from our producers and Support folks or even random comments from me, it is to let you guys know that we are reading all parts of the forums.
I can tell you are frustrated but I feel that this is crossing the line. Discussing moderation action as whole in an incorrect subforum, in a confrontational manner like this isn't the most helpful or effective way. If you see a specific person or post, make sure to report the behavior so that we can keep add to our own tracking.
I will be moving this thread to Website & Forums section and locking it but it will remain in view. If you have more to say, feel free to contact me via PM.
Help us improve TERA by giving us constructive feedback and suggestions. No flame wars, no personal attacks, no promotion of non-En Masse Entertainment commercial products, no discussions on which game is the best ever, simply no drama. This is the Official TERA forums, folks. It exists so that we can make TERA better. You can express your opinion on how we can improve the game without dividing and disrupting our community.
Heya Kelli, you are right on contacting our Support team, they will help you with the issue. If you have been mischarged due to a technical error we will do our best to correct them.
I don't know much about the formula, but I do know that win/loss is a big part of the formula. K/D/A and sites captured are sortable stats, but do not play a big role in the ranking.
We will be performing a server maintenance for all servers on Thursday, August 30 at 6:00 AM Pacific Time. All PvP and PvE servers will be taken down from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM Pacific Time.
We will be updating the battleground ranking during this maintenance. Going forward, the battleground ranking will be updated during our regular maintenance hours. More information can be found in this post by our Associate Producer, Treeshark.
All servers will be unavailable from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM PDT.
Arachnaea
Basilisk Crag
Blightwood
Celestial Hills
Dragonfall
Feral Valley
Freeholds
Frost Reach
Jagged Coast
Serpentis Isle
Valley of Titans
For server status, please refer to the Server Status page. Thank you for your patience!
If you could give us a bit more information through the pinned thread, that'd be great! It also has the updates on what we've categorized and what we are doing to address them.
There will be an official statement out later, but servers will go under maintenance tomorrow (Friday) morning at 6am for this.
The bad news is that rankings won't be calculated for Monday at 12:01am. We're just as disappointed as you are that this happened, but no configuration we tested, short of blowing out all the data collected in the game after Monday was going to fix this. That was obviously not an option.
When the servers come back up, the rankings will reflect Battlegrounds up til Friday at 6am. In the future, Battleground rankings will be recalculated during at Tuesday, 6am PST to avoid further complications like this. We're sorry this had to happen as we were looking forward to this just as much as you all were.
We will still do next Tuesday’s maintenance as well.
The winners were direct messaged or tweeted, so either one of the two worked as a notification. We actually received a feedback that we were getting a bit too chatty on Twitter so we decided to mix the notification method. :)
Folks, we are always working to improve TERA. Some may take longer than others due to the scope of work and the potential impact but we are working on them. Sometimes a feature for our community based on our community's feedback gets implemented in another territory first because it is a universal request or because it doesn't need localization, etc. But there are times when we were able to get a new feature developed for us first, like the tutorial area to experience the level 20 skills first or the ability to keep an attribute through multiple sealing/unsealing processes.
(And no personal attacks, no flame wars, and no derailed topics.)
Folks, this is the TERA forums and it exists as a place of constructive feedback to improve TERA. We won't get into all the other topics this derailed thread has brought up.
Against Forum Regulations - Threads or posts whose primary purpose is dramatic effect rather than substantive discussion and calling out, Locking Thread.
Just to clarify, no tickets will be needed since it will be outside of the PAX convention center. So if some local folks are free in the evening, that'll work as well.
Our explorers and cartographers have been busy cataloging the many marvels of Southern Shara. Today we’re adding entries for three provinces.
• Val Palrada: Any province featuring a labyrinthine network of caves inhabited by giant spiders is going to get your attention. Val Palrada also has a region suffering from a magical plague, a temple devoted to a serpent god, and perhaps the world’s only tribe of friendly orcans.
• Val Elenium: Come for the canyons full of dragon bones. Stay for the bandit-infested wasteland. Did we mention the miners unearthing ancient weapons of the gods?
• Veritas District: Our explorers learned that just because the sun god built a garden here doesn’t make it a peaceful place. There’s a grand (and ruined) temple, the world’s largest lighthouse, and plenty of hostile denizens—including sloths. No, really.
Check out the BAMs, the dungeons, the quests, and more in the TERA Atlas!
How many folks will be in town for PAX Prime? We are trying to see how many will be interested in a laid-back get together this Friday. If there's enough interest, several of us will be hanging out somewhere (tbd) for anyone to stop by to say hi, grab a drink and chat! :)
I'll have a more official update on this either late today or sometime tomorrow, but the current situation is that we are working on a way to get the stats to get calculated at the right time for this week (8/27, 12:01AM PST), and also change the future time calculation so this fiasco doesn't happen again. Working in the future can be difficult.
Just wanted to pop in and remind everyone that what the other territory's publisher does is their decision, and we will make our own and separate decisions according to our market's needs/wants.
We have a couple of fan data sites that can help you with items you want more information on. I just did a search on TERA Codex and got the search results. :)
Aside from KTERA being serviced by another publisher, if you look at the their event pages, they are not always suitable for our market. It could only for PC cafes, or for the free demo server, some involve real world items (buying something at a convenient store and getting a number on the receipt to register then check for a prize, or having a raffle for electronics, etc.).
But yes, we'd like to have more events and we are working on something in fall *hint hint*. ;)
(Also as Jerry linked above, yep we are working to get us more nexus times and days.)
Server: Serpentis Isle
Place: Velika
Time: 07:14 EDT
Type: UI lag
Description:
Had just queued for BG and was waiting so went to the bank and trader over near the west gate side of Velika by the training area. Opened up the bank and my FPS went from a range of 60-72 to a range of 6-7 FPS. I normally only see that if I'm doing a lot of Nexus party/raid stuff. I may encounter this too if I go into endgame dungeons, but generally I ignore it as it don't jump down to 6-7 but like 36-48 FPS which is still playable.
Additional note:
As of yesterday, an issue with inventory and friends list automatically popping up. I didn't figure out what caused it, but it happened in BG and in normal PvE areas. Only relogging stopped it.
Keidra, do you still get 6-7FPS after you re-logged?
It has not been updated as we intended it to, we are currently working to get the ranking displayed properly. We will get them updated as soon as we fix the issue!
I know that just saying "we're working on it" with the lag issues isn't really helpful, so I'd like to take some time and explain some of the lag issues we're experiencing, what we're doing, as well as some ways that you can help us work towards a solution on these problems. I also want to clarify the different types so we can be more specific when we reference lag going forward.
As of Friday (8/24), there were a few different types of lag.
: Most recently introduced with the Argon Queen patch. This didn't involve combat, but accepting quests, using consumables, etc… We began to see the culprit of this early on (having nothing to do with latency), and our operations team worked hard with BHS to get this issue resolved. We pushed a fix for this on Friday afternoon, and believe that instances of this type of lag have ceased.
IF you are still experiencing this, please reply with:
Server that you are playing on.
Time -with your time zone- that this happened. Please try to be as precise as possible with this.
2) UI FPS Lag
: A lot of us don't experience this, but a lot of us do as well. This lag involves your FPS jumping up considerably when you take out the UI (Ctrl-Z), and being crappy with UI on. Mostly affects AMD/ATI machines, but Intel/Nvidia are not excluded. We do have staff that experience this, so trust us when I say there are daily reminders that this still exists.
What we're doing
: We've collected a lot of the info generated from the UI FPS thread, as well as from our own QA. We have open threads with engineers at AMD about the issue as well as with BHS to resolve this issue. This is just one of those cases where knowing the problem is doesn't necessarily give us an easy solution.
IF you are experiencing this, the best information to tell us would be:
Your Motherboard/CPU/Video card combination
(if you know it). If you don't, a model # from the manufacturer works as well.
Current Graphics Driver Version you are running that experiences this.
3) Instance Lag
: The bane of my existence. Our encounters with it, to put it best, are random but consistent. It's hard to narrow down, but we do experience it and it's an ongoing issue that we are working with BHS on.
IF you are experiencing this, the best information to tell us would be:
I know this doesn't cover all the instances of lag, but hopefully most of it. If I've left anything out, feel free to chime in, but please be constructive. If you are experiencing any of the 3 listed above, please indicate which one of the 3 it is. In general, information like:
Any goodbye threads are against the forum rules. Please create a thread without that. I will leave this in public view so that you may copy some of the post content.
We try to keep constructive threads open so that people can post their opinions. But I do think going at such lengths such as this is too far and whether it is intended or not, the impression is that people are advertising/advocating other commercial products that is non-TERA and non-En Masse Entertainment. This is also dividing our community which is also not what we'd like to see.
Please restrain yourselves and be respectful, folks. Remember, this is the Official TERA Forums and its sole existence is for TERA's community and all of its rules need to be met.
We're still monitoring the lag (and this thread, naturally), and it seems like it's improved for some but maybe not for all. When you guys leave a note whether you are experiencing lag, would you also mention which server it is? It will be helpful for us to investigate this further. Thank you.
Whether you’re hunting BAMs, killing gods, or pwning noobs in TERA’s battlegrounds, do it in style with the new Black Dragon weapon skins. Every class gets a skin that transforms an ordinary weapon into an artifact that evokes TERA’s past...and perhaps its future.
Check out the Black Dragon weapon skins at the En Masse Store today! They’re available for only a limited time.
Also available in the En Masse Store are the Whimsical Weapon skins—and they’re on sale! Until 11:59 p.m. PDT on Monday, they’re 50 percent off. Whether you want to intimidate or amuse, the En Masse store has you (and your weapon) covered!
We made you this video so you can see how awesome our new skins are. Enjoy!
This is to address some of the lag issues: announcement. We try to send out a notification as early as possible but sometimes it is urgent enough for us to push it out as soon as the QA testing is done. In today's case the in-game notifications were sent out 15/5/1 minutes prior to the maintenance.
We will be performing a server maintenance for all servers on Friday, August 24 at 1:30 PM Pacific Time. All PvP and PvE servers will be taken down from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM Pacific Time.
During this maintenance, we will be working to address some of the overall lag issue along with the correction of Kelsaik ice/fire weapon stats and raid channel moderation. We will also be changing the instance dungeon reset time of Manaya's Core and Sirjuka Gallery, and the vanarch GvG limit reset time to 4:00 AM PDT.
All servers will be unavailable from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM PDT.

We'd like to have the nexus times spread out on weekdays and weekends so we can accommodate more folks' schedules. So far we haven't been able to due to the economic impact from the rewards but we've been discussing how to change them and increasing the frequency. We don't have an exact ETA yet but we are working to have more times and frequencies in one of the next few patches. We'll keep you guys updated as we get a more solid date. :)
We definitely do take action in cases where we can verify a violation of the terms of service has occurred. If you reported someone and continue to see that player in the game, it is likely because we determined they were not breaking the rules. Can you provide a little more information on what these players were doing that made you think they were using a 3rd party?
We're tracking this issue in various ways and delivered additional data to resolve this issue. Multiple territories are currently experiencing this issue and this is our highest priority right now. We will keep you guys updated as more information becomes available, thank you for your patience!
Hey guys, thank you for being patient with us. We've been helping everyone we can through Support by trying out different methods that have helped people as some folks were helped by one method whereas that didn't work for some. So if you are having this issue, please contact our Support team, you can chat with us or call us as well with the option to call you back. For a long term solution for this we are working internally with our vendor and are discussing a better way for the launcher/patcher to work.
We've looked into increasing the logged in time and decided not to implement it for now as we use single sign on (once you log in, you have access to forum and game account both without having to log in again), as a security precaution. The default time is currently 4 hours and we will continue to look into other possibilities on how to increase this.
(I usually use FireFox, but I can hit the browser's back button to save all of the text I had. Maybe it will work for IE too?)
We also would like to get an automatic bbcode insert function and a preview button.
We used to use a forum software but switched. This is an in-house forum specifically developed for us, so we're building stuff from scratch.
Our BG is open 24/7 to accommodate our diverse community from different time zones (Korea has only 1 timezone) and we will continue to monitor the battlegrounds to see if we need to make any tweaks, folks.
It is frustrating for me (and the team) to see anyone not being able to enjoy TERA after we worked hard to get this ready for us in NA.. And it's easier and harder at the same time because we either are experiencing the same issues or we know what it'd be like based on our experiences. But sometimes tech issues need a bit of time to be resolved and we are working on it diligently!
(Remember to be respectful in your posts, some of the posters in this thread could use a reminder.)
We've been working on this and thank you for sharing more information/details with us. We're continuing to pinpoint what is causing this and how we can fix it. We appreciate your patience. As always, we will update you when new information becomes available.
If you want to cancel, and are having difficulty online please use the chat support option. If you have a screenshot of the error and error code send that to us to as well. We are not showing any consistent errors with the page or noticeable down times.
Also, our chat/phone option may be more convenient for you. You have the call back option with our phone support, so that you don't have to hold. I've checked with our team and the average wait time seems to be just a few minutes.
Please contact our Support team, they will be more than happy to assist you. You can chat or call them too. (Chat option on the right side of the page and the phone number at the bottom of the page)

Thank you for letting us know! Instance buff removal was intentional but it was accidentally left out of the patch notes. We will work to add that in soon. ^_^
We think we've isolated the cause and are in the process of confirming and working on a fix. We don't have an ETA yet but as always, we will keep you guys updated when new information becomes available.
To help you design the ultimate homage to TERA, our basic fansite kit gives you the fonts, logos, and elements necessary to design a gorgeous site, while the full fansite kit includes in-game art assets and concept art. Once your fansite is up and running, make sure to post in the forum’s fansite section so everyone can see it.
Download your very own TERA fansite kit today. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
The most populated PvP server seems to be Valley of Titans, but feel free to check out the individual server forums and see if a guild catches your eye! :)
We try to give as much as time possible for regular issues, but sometimes an urgent issue comes up that we need to take action swiftly and this was the case. :(
Folks, if you are seeing this issue after our update last night (we rebuilt the patch and pushed out to live so that it will automatically download when people patch), please contact our Support team so that we can provide more detailed and individual help.
We will be performing a server restart for all servers on Wednesday, August 22 at 2:30 PM Pacific time. All servers will be unavailable from 2:30 PM to 2:45 PM PDT.

Hey guys, we pushed out an update late last night that resolved a lot of the existing/incoming support requests on this issue and we continue to work to fix this for everyone. If you are still having this issue please contact our Support team so that we can gather more details with specific information.
Also would like to say thank you to those who've been helping other community members and to everyone for their patience.
Hey guys, we are looking into this and are asking the server names to make sure we can track this down in the other thread. Let's consolidate to gather the information.

While we aren't seeing a large spike in lag tickets through CS, we do hear that you guys are experiencing it and are digging into this with our operations team.
To help us narrow this down, can you list what servers you were on? (we aren't able to reliably repro this within the office so any data we can have to narrow it down would be helpful).
Thanks for all your help in getting the information and helping the community, folks. As we've mentioned multiple times in this very thread, we've suggested a few fixes to try that have helped out some folks and asked the others to send in the detailed information through our Support team so that we may track the issue better. We are continuing to investigate and find a way to fix this for everyone.
It is a constant and ongoing work to balance all classes in all MMO's and we will continue to work on class balancing. Sometimes there will be changes and sometimes tweaks, as seen in many of our patch notes. (In other words, we like mystics and their skittles!)
Also we welcome feedback but let's have more in-depth posts than just one liners and please refrain from including EME/BHS/anyone's name in the thread title as it is against the Official TERA forum rules to call out people.
If you are having a technical issue, please let us know in a Support ticket with more information so that we may investigate it further. With more specific information, we can eliminate more possibilities to pinpoint the exact cause and work on the issue. Here is our FAQ page with the instructions on how to get more information to submit with the ticket.
(Also please exclude EME/BHS/anyone's name from the thread title as calling out someone is against the Official TERA forum rulesforum rules[/url]..)
The moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived—the Argon Queen update is here—and with it, the argon queen herself, Shandra Manaya. In her lair, Manaya’s Core, she eagerly awaits the bravest, most seasoned Valkyon soldiers.
The Argon Queen update infuses the world of TERA with the greatest challenges and most worthwhile rewards players have seen to date. Break earth on the battlegrounds. Group with up to 20 players in a raid to tackle the nexus. Try out new tanking skills in top-level instances. Show the argons—once and for all—who’s boss in TERA.
Note: If you reached level 60 before 11:59 p.m. PDT on August 20, your rewards have been delivered to you through Item Claim.
This will help us get this issue fixed quicker. We know this is very frustrating and are working to get this taken care of. We appreciate the patience guys!
It's just a text error and does not indicate any other bug, so you can go ahead and ignore the "Cannot be used for that level of enchantment" message :P
Edit: Minea is too strong, she beat me to the post
Those of you still experiencing the checksum error, is the repair option greyed out? Also, if you are able to press the repair button, does the client attempt to download the entire 25gb+?
We are working on this as fast as we can, folks. We've tried some methods and they helped out some but not all and we will continue to work on this issue.
Yeah, it seems that the most important (and likely only useful file) is the DefaultEngine.ini file, so try that file for sure. The S1Engine.ini file should be overwritten when you start to download a new patch.
As many of you can see, replacing the engine.ini and s1game.ini files in C:\Program Files (x86)\TERA\Client\S1Game\Config has been working for those that saved an older version. This has not worked for all, but its a pretty quick and easy step to try.
I have gone ahead and hosted a couple of default files for others to try:
Here are the instructions posted above (thanks Generin)
1) I watched the download progress - it made it to 100% and then tried applying the patch and immediately died with the Checksum Error
2) I closed Tera and the patcher
3) I went to my TERA/Client/S1Game/Config directory and copied my old (bad) versions of the 2 ini files back as the originals (DefaultEngine - Copy.ini -> DefaultEngine.ini, and S1Engine - Copy.ini -> S1Engine.ini)
4) I restarted Tera and the patcher and everything worked
I'm glad to see that this is working for you folks! For those that this is not working for, I'm still working on getting the patch hosted, I'll keep updating anytime I have any new info
We've gathered the data in this thread and our own research into this as well. I just wanted to let you all know that we do experience this in the office but that doesn't necessarily translate into an easy (or even moderately difficult) solution. But we definitely are not just ignoring it.
Hmm, I see the server status page and they are all down so it must take a few minutes to update. (Maybe refresh the page or clear out the cache?.. Not sure what's causing that)
They are currently under maintenance while we implement the Argon Queen patch. :)
Here was the announcement and we had in-game announcements go up.

We are always open to the community's feedback and this is something we can tweak in the future if need be. The patch content will be available tomorrow and we will keep monitoring the community response to the various topics.
Incidentally, let's direct the patch feedback to the already existing ones (either in General Discussions or News & Announcements) to consolidate the feedback, especially since call out threads are against the forum rules. :)
Hello Melona (my favorite ice cream bar name, btw, along with screwbar),
Unfortunately there are a few folks who have run into this issue after we've implemented a fix and our Support team is the only team that can help with this. So the best way would be to contact them (chat or phone would be faster than submitting a ticket for this case), as advised in the previous thread with the same topic.
A lot of folks research the server forums for a suitable guild (with similar playstyle, etc.) then try to contact them in the thread. If you mention you've seen their recruitment thread on the forum or simply tell them why you'd be a good fit, they will probably get back to you. Good luck! :)
We do respond to reports of abuse in the chat channels, and I can assure you we will take action against someone discussing raping someone. Using the report functionality submits a report to us, which our terms of service team then reviews. We cannot share what action is taken against the offending player, but I can tell you that we do take the action we see as being most appropiriate, from a warning all the way up to an account termination.
If you are concerned that a report did not get handled, you can also submit a ticket through our support site. Make sure to include your character's name, the server, the offending character's name, and the date and time the incident occured (to the best of your ability). This will help us to quickly find the log of the chat that occured.
We are a mature rated game, so we are not going to take action on every curse word that is uttered, but there are definitely still levels of civility that need to be maintained.
Did I read the nexus raids part right? In our version are we going to be able to.open the nexus raid by closing a single nexus point, and not the entire area?
Your raid group will need to clear 2 nexuses (there will be a buff icon counting for you), but the portal to enter the Traverse will not appear until all the nexuses have been cleared.
Hey guys, sorry this got left out of the patch notes. I'll get them put in.
I can confirm that items level 58 and below are eligible as templates in this patch. Sorry for the confusion!
can you please clarify whether we can use items that we already posess right away as templates or do we need to reaquire them to get the "eligible as a template" attribute?
Items you currently have that qualify (level 58 and under), will now be eligible as template.
Patch notes are here. Also, please remember that our regular maintenance hours will be longer tomorrow morning to get the Argon Queen patch in. Maintenance hours are from 6 - 9 AM PDT. (Original post is also updated.)
Cupra ensiform, argent ensiform, powerful rival draught, and tenacious savage rival draught are no longer usable in the game, so their vendor prices have increased.
Could I get some clarity to this?
The ensiforms were old rewards used for the old BG shop that still managed to make their way into NA TERA. There was never any use for them, and only a handful of them on the servers. Now you can just sell them back for monies!
The new battlegrounds use Bellicarium Credits.
The rival draughts seem to have become undrinkable. But you can now sell them back to the vendor for pretty close to original price.

Our biggest update yet looms on the horizon: a black and silver cloud cut with vibrant blue. The argon queen is preparing—preparing to kill you. Will you show her what the Valkyon Federation does to those who would try to destroy the world of TERA?
The Argon Queen update brings new instances, exciting class changes, raids, new and revised items, and the much-anticipated battlegrounds to TERA—but that's not all! Check out the 18.10.03 patch notes.
Actually our active community is the reason why these podiums/flags/etc. were added. When we forwarded the community events to BHS, they were very excited and created these assets hoping that it would be helpful in organizing the community events.
As for the exarchs, we are thinking of them but as we are always looking at how we can improve the political system, we don't have much information to share yet. (I don't think Korea had exarchs implemented) I like the idea of another tier above vanarchs though and we always encourage you to share your ideas!
For the instance lag/skill delay we've done some backend coding work that should help. It'll be in the next patch next week (the Argon Queen) and we will continue to monitor the issue.

You’ve told us a thousand times: after trying TERA’s true action combat, it’s tough to play other MMOs.
We hear it on the forums. We hear it in social media. We hear it in the actual game (when we aren’t killing BAMs). We’ve even coined a term for this phenomenon:
TERA effect (n.) – The sensation that TERA’s action combat has rendered other MMOs too boring to play.
We want you to tell us how you experience the TERA effect!
Tweet how you feel the TERA effect with the hashtag “#TeraEffect” for your chance to win a free Summer Shades bundle!
Each day from August 17 to 28, we’ll select up to ten of our favorite #TeraEffect tweets as winners. If your #TeraEffect tweet is retweeted by @TERAonline on Twitter, you have been selected as a winner, and your code for a free Summer Shades bundle will be direct messaged to your Twitter account from @TERAonline immediately.
Help us spread the word of the TERA effect! Tweet your #TeraEffect experience today!
Rules:
Each participant can be selected only once as a winner during this contest. This contest is also bound by the official TERA contest rules.
We will be performing a server maintenance for all servers on Tuesday, August 21 at 6:00AM Pacific. All PvP and PvE servers will be taken down from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM Pacific time.

We will have a store email system maintenance this Sunday (8/19) for approximately 4 hours, beginning at 5:00 AM PDT. During the maintenance hours, our purchase confirmation emails will be put in a queue until the end of maintenance. Once the maintenance is complete, all queued emails will be sent to you automatically without any action required on your part. The only affected emails are store-related confirmations and you will still be able to purchase from En Masse store.
Scheduled Store Email System Maintenance

Structured PvP is now a reality with TERA’s battlegrounds! Seize field objectives and slice into the opposing team. Build teamwork, blow off steam, and earn valuable gear.
Fifteen-player teams prepare you for the big battles to come in the Argon Queen update. Fight in Fraywind Canyon to raise your ranking and hone your combat skills.
I am really hoping more of the folks who entered the contest will share their screenshots on the forums. There were so many great ones, after the first round of selection process we ended up with 40+ shots we really liked. Then we had to trim the list down over and over again.
I threw a wish in the well. Ask me, I'll actually tell.
I looked to the original post as it was made. And now this thread is in my way.
I'd trade my soul for consolidated threads. Pennies and dimes for constructive feedback.
I wasn't looking for this. But now the replies are in my way.
It’s been a summer to remember across the world of TERA, with players fighting BAMs, chasing down summer loot boxes, and just lookin’ good on the beach.
Check out your fellow players having fun in the sun in our summer roundup and find out who won the screenshot contest on our blog!
Start your visit in the besieged town of Acarum among the hamlet’s cheerful villagers. See Tempest Reach’s famous frozen waves and undead pirates. Climb scenic Mount Tyrannas and fight the amani traitor Kaidun’s rebel army. Enjoy quaint hospitality in the Citadel of Torment—we recommend the Necromancer Tomb—and ski cross-country in Frostreach through hostile wendigo territory. More experienced tourists will enjoy Suryati’s Peak. Come for the argons; stay for the brainwashing.
Plan an unforgettable journey of bone-chilling terror with our Westonia game guide.
We are aware of the request and it is our goal to have more frequent nexus times as well. Looking at the data on economic impact, the rewards are significantly more than what we would like from the nexus experience and we want to balance that better before we increase the frequency. We are discussing the ways to do so, so please know that we haven't forgotten or overlooked this!
(Most of the time I can't make it either.. ^_^)
Minea on 08/10/2012, 10:06 AM
Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that the wish for more nexus times is not forgotten or overlooked. We are working on a way to address its impact on economy and once we figure that out we will be able to increase the frequency. Currently the economic rewards from nexus are out of proportion and we want to fix that first, especially because our game economy is still quite young compared to some other territories and we want to be more cautious.
Only the bravest dare to face down Shandra Manaya—all god, all argon—as she sits on her mechanized throne. You haven’t faced a test like this before. Make no mistake: this boss is tough.
If you win, you’ll earn some of TERA’s most powerful gear. But if you lose, who knows what metallic horror Shandra Manaya will transform your corpse into?
See whether you’ve got what it takes to dethrone the argon queen and end the Argon War. Check out our Argon Queen page for more info!
Discussions on the forum should be in a constructive and respectful manner. Most of this thread is derailed posts, disruptive and some quite disrespectful and out of topic. For TERA-related discussions, help us better the game by giving us constructive feedback.
We've looked at this (from community feedback during closed beta tests) and asked about it, but unfortunately this is something that requires a lot of support from the engine. This will also be difficult and take a long time to implement, so this isn't on top of the priority list. :(
The Argon Queen patch will be live on August 22 and the major contents of the patch (new skills, instances, battleground, etc.) are being updated on the Argon Queen Preview page. But in addition to those, we want to share more information on other changes that are included in the Argon Queen update. Of course, we will have more details in our patch notes and please note that these are subject to change as they are under development/implementation/testing.
In next week's patch, archers will have a larger target hit box for several skills along with a few other tweaks. The cool down time of all pre level 60 instance dungeons will be decreased to 10 minutes (5 minutes when using the Instance Matching System) and we will remove the party disband option to discourage unnecessary and random party disband occurrences.
The required amount of Practicum and Dire Badge to obtain glyph boxes will be decreased in Temple of Temerity. Also the incorrect stats on ice/fire items from Kelsaik's Nest hardmode instance have been adjusted accordingly (link to the detailed thread).
Other convenience tweaks include auto-dismount when trying to gather, climb or enter an instance, addition of general (world) and role play chat channels, and being able to use mounts in certain areas where you couldn't before.
We will have the full patch notes before the patch is released next week.
Against Forum Regulations - "Goodbye" threads. Please note, "goodbye" threads will result in immediate thread removal and the author's permanent suspension from the forums.
Stock up on munchies and kiss your family goodbye. The argon queen is coming for you on August 22.
We know you’re prepared. You’ve been hunting BAMs. You’ve been killing gods. Now your wait is almost over.
Almost. But have you hit 60 yet? If you’re still pushing to reach 60 for your chance face Shandra Manaya, the argon queen, we’ve got a little more incentive for you.
If you reach level 60 before 11:59 p.m. on August 21, you’ll earn the following rewards:
• Summon Monti: A scroll that brings a traveling merchant to you. (Carry more gold and less junk.)
• Summon Dimon: A scroll that brings a crystal merchant to you. (Hey, accidents happen. Crystals break.)
• Summon Phargo: A scroll that brings a banker to you. (Stow that phat loot you just got, or grab something you forgot.)
• Summon Schwab: A scroll that brings a broker to you. (Manage those “investments” and get instant materials for upgrades.)
For more information on the summoning scrolls, check out our level 60 rewards FAQ.
If you want these great rewards, all you have to do is ding 60! The scrolls will be delivered to you when the Argon Queen update releases on August 22.

Our plan is for the NA battlegrounds to be open 24/7 all day, all week, all year. That being said there are a few bumps in the road to this planning we are still working out. Currently because the KR system is only opened limited times, there is a natural cap in the amount of BG rewards you can earn. By opening the system up 24/7 we are not using the natural cap, which opens the door to abuse.
BHS is currently working on getting a cap system put in place so we can have the BGs open 24/7 without the potential for abuse or creating a severe discrepancy between who plays all the time and who doesn't. Until that system is in place (shouldn't be too long after The Argon Queen update) we're working on balancing the number of points you can earn to accommodate for a 24/7 un-capped battleground.
Again, our end goal is 24/7 BGs open all the time cross servers, so matches shouldn't be hard to find no matter when you play. We're just dealing with balancing the point system until we can implement the daily point cap.
Shandra Manaya and her inner circle of lackeys call Argon Corpus home. To get to the argon queen, you'll have to fight your way past Meldita, the Eye of Manaya, and a host of other mechanized horrors.
Somewhere within Argon Corpus, you’ll find a path that leads to Shandra Manaya herself—but can you survive that long?
Congratulations, Varien! Blessings to you and your family! Although it already sounds like you guys are mighty lucky with 9-minute record! Please relay the best wishes to your wife and daughter also. :)
Having a hard time deciding which one of your characters would look best in a swimsuit? If you need more time to make that decision, we've got you covered!
We are extending the sale of summer items from the En Masse store until 11:59 PM Pacific Time on Thursday, August 16.
This means you can try on all of the summer items during the Suit Up for Summer event and still have a few extra days to get one from the store!
Why not get rid of the leader position for IMS groups altogether? We don't need to designate one person to mark mobs, you know. And we don't need to change loot rules, ever, in IMS groups.
Ever.
That is something we can evaluate a little more down the line. For now our main goal is to remove the annoyance caused by someone kicking a party member with unjust reasons or holding the group hostage with poor loot rules.
I think a party leader still retains some value as it assigns someone to mark focus targets for everyone and (hopefully) actually lead the group :P
This is something that we are certainly aware of. While I can't put your concerns to wrest with a solid "Yes" or "No", I can say that we are looking into this for sure. It is something that we get a lot of requests for, so it's on our radar :)
We completely agree that this is an issue. We are implementing a "vote to kick" function as well as a "Vote to change loot" rule for parties in the future. The power of a party should not be in complete control by the party leader, but rather in the hands of the party as a whole. :)
It will be cross server (like Instance Matching System) and our current goal is to have it available for 24 hours. Right now we are working on a few adjustments to make sure it is not too easy or too difficult to earn the rewards.
We work every day to make positive impact to TERA by delivering our community's feedback and the forums are one of the sources we gather feedback from.
In spite of the sheer beauty of the region, dark mysteries and ancient threats await you in Essenia. The Mysterium works with the Valkyon Federation to clean up the poisoned land, while a handful of soldiers struggle to contain Thulsa’s legions in Essenian Crest. This province marks the start of your adventures on the continent of Shara, and the Essenia game guide can keep you on the right track.
Last comment on that page says "Korean news is reporting that EME laid off 25% of its staff (20 out of 80 staff members) due to not hitting their target of 20 million dollars profit in NA. Speculation is that BHS is restructuring EME to make way for FTP. When asked a representative from BHS; their response was "No comment".
Dat true?
Incorrect translation.
I am going to close this derailed thread. It has run its course.
As much as we'd all love to ride a giant dragonfly or float on cloud... this is not something that we plan to consider at the moment. ^_^
Also, it is against the forum rules to call out others (including En Masse) on the forums, so please create a more suitable and descriptive title in the future.

Thanks for the support guys. As the thread title states it has been a tough day. As a company you hope to never have to go through these things and saying it sucks is an understatement. We are all very proud of what we, and those that left today, accomplished with TERA. We plan to continue to invest in TERA in both content and service and work towards publishing great new games as well.
You will continue to see many familiar faces around the forums and community including Chager, Minea, LongClaw, Treeshark, myself and others. We are still committed to TERA and you.
Today, we had to let go of some of the great talent at En Masse Entertainment. While a tough decision, it was necessary as we prepare for the next chapter of our business. TERA has been a great launch for us, and we are committed to you guys, our loyal players. We’re taking measures to align the needs of our business to continue supporting TERA and preparing for our future. We are working with those affected by this transition, including offering assistance on new prospects within the industry/area. Rest assured this doesn’t change our plans for awesome game updates and support, including the huge Argon Queen update later this month.
Regardless of the contest, it was really nice to see the effort and everyone should be there at the Beach Bash! Celebrate summer before it slips away! :)
Please note that goodbye threads are against the Official TERA forum rules and will be removed/locked. Also don't create another thread if the original one has been removed from breaking the rule.
@Urchin, We recommend you to contact our Support team since the forums are generally used for TERA-related discussions and is not a guaranteed way to resolve support-related issues. Our Support team will be more than happy to help!
You killed the death-god Thulsa when he tried to take over the world with his monster Kelsaik, but Thulsa had dozens of other schemes in the works. While working in disguise at the Mysterium in Allemantheia, Thulsa had direct access to the elven Core and its mighty power.
The Mysterium is concerned that Thulsa's research was more than a disguise—what might he have discovered?
Get ready for Akasha’s Hideout. TERA’s seventh instanced dungeon has thrills, chills, and brand new ways to die. Not one but five BAM bosses line up to keep players from recovering the Core—and for that matter, from getting out alive. And if you do manage to survive Akasha, try the super-elite hard mode to sharpen your skills and get even better loot! Check out the new Akasha's Hideout dungeon guide.
LOVE the series (both book and TV), some people in the office introduced me. :)
I was also slightly disappointed at the less-fantasy-than-thought setting at first (HUGE Potter fan here), but it was just so great I didn't care anymore.
Oh, I have the GoT cookbook!! I've only tried one very simple recipe so far and it was a success. Will have to try more!
We have canceled the weekly maintenance hours scheduled from 3:00 AM to 5:00 AM PDT for Tuesday, August 7. All servers will be online and available during this time.
Our latest patch to stabilize the servers has been implemented last Friday, August 3. We will go back to having our regular maintenance hours next week.
If you mean inverting to where left is right, and right is left, we don't support that. Unless you mean that debuff where you go in all crazy directions.
Also if you get two of the identical swimsuits, you can stack their time by moving one swimsuit over the other one (stack) in your inventory. So by stacking 2 of the same swimsuits, they will last 60 days.
We've opened up the contest to summer-themed screenshots between August 3 and August 14, 11:45 p.m. PDT to allow more folks to enter! The Beach Bash will be a great place to organize screenshot moments such as mass fireworks or /emotes!
We will be performing a server restart for all servers on Friday, August 3 at 6:15 PM Pacific time. All PvP servers will be taken down for a restart on Friday, August 3 from 6:15 PM to 6:30 PM Pacific, followed by all PvE servers from 6:30 PM to 6:45 PM Pacific.
We will be restarting all servers to address the server instability issue.
The following servers will be unavailable on Friday, August 3 from 6:15 PM to 6:30 PM Pacific time.
Basilisk Crag
Feral Valley
Jagged Coast
Valley of Titans
The following servers will be unavailable on Friday, August 3 from 6:30 PM to 6:45 PM Pacific time:
Starting at noon PDT today, rush to the beaches and coasts of the world of TERA! You might find some special boxes with fireworks, scrolls, potions, and swimwear—perfect for your summer adventures.
And the En Masse Store has you covered, too. Whether you’re on the beaches of Mistmoor Island or Balder’s Refuge, don’t get caught unprepared. You’ll want an array of sunglasses to look cool while you keep cool, and a swimsuit to show off your fearsome beach body. (And remember, it’s TERA, so some armor and weapons would be smart, too.)
We’ve even added some special achievements to TERA for the occasion. Kill a BAM or take a swim in beach wear, and you’ll make progress toward the Hot Fun in the Summertime achievement (which comes with an in-game title and some permanent sunglasses).
The "Suit Up for Summer" event lasts until August 13, so reach the nearest beach today!
When the voting period ends at 5:00 PM PDT today, the data available from Election Leaderboards will reset and become unavailable to public until next week. We plan to bring them back up sometime next week and the data will be viewable again.
We are currently working to have the election data displayed until the next registration period begins.
So, we don't just referee. There are weekly meetings between the community team and the production team as well as the production team DOES read the forums. Just because we don't always comment, doesn't mean we aren't watching.
One of the reasons we don't insert ourselves into conversations that much is we prefer to let our users have an organic experience as much as possible (while still adhering to the ToS and having constructive discussions). It's also interesting to see how conversations and discussions evolve and sometimes those evolutions don't happen when the discussions are guided by an employee or an employee posts in the thread.
We also have pretty demanding work schedules (meetings are a necessary evil) and it's not always a good idea to jump into a conversation when you have to be away from your computer for awhile.
Added the information to the original post that the instance servers are currently unavailable and we are working to resolve the issue. (This information is also available in General Discussions's pinned thread.)
