It's heart-warming to know that somehow is as knowledgeable about the history of TERA's cosmetic items as I am (or perhaps even more so).

Very impressive!

Well, I guess this is 5 catalysts and no one ^^U

The game isn't able to deliver 5 catalysts at a time. Expect additional parcels to get your catalysts one at a time.

RKC wrote: »
Just did DFHM and it didnt drop anything for me.

Can you give a specific time of completion?
Because of the lack of catalyst drops from dungeons and some problems with the delivery of level-up catalysts, some players have been granted multiple catalysts via parcel.

If you've done a dungeon that was supposed to have a 100% drop but did not get a reward, please note the time you completed that dungeon. It's possible it just happened before we were able to correct the event issue.
Multiple people have posted about catalysts, and those threads have been merged into this one.
An issue with the event was identified and has been resolved. The following dungeons should now properly award 100% of the time:

Shadow Sanguinary
Shadow Sanguinary (Hard)
Wonderholme (10-Person)
Demokron Factory (Hard)
The Abscess (Hard)

@Spacecats I've run two SSHM's now and only one of them rewarded me a catalyst. I'm continuing on, but so far the dungeon doesn't seem to be a guaranteed drop as intended.

Thanks. I see multiple people posting about this and I've let the production team know. They're looking into it!

The other times I've seen this event, the catalysts were always able to be saved for the next event. This time around, we have to use them. Is this going to be the case if and when we get this event in the future?

If we have to use them, rip us. But its still better than nothing I suppose.

The catalysts are being removed after this event for a few reasons. ONE of those reasons is a massive hoarding of catalysts from previous Kyra events. Each time an event like this gets planned by the En Masse team, we want it to be a balanced experience that awards active players equally. The fact that old catalysts stick around months after they've been earned presents one more hurdle in trying to plan the event. We want to keep Kyra's fun and rewarding not just for this iteration, but future Kyra events. Removing catalysts will help make that happen, and it will also open up possibilities for the production team to try different things with Kyra's.

Although it was never stated that catalysts would be useful after any of the Kyra's events ended (the Pop-Up Potion Shack could have always used other items), we realized that an expectation had built itself up after multiple Kyra events used the same catalysts. We knew at this point it wouldn't be fair to the community to remove everyone's catalysts without warning or switch items to something else. That's why we announced it before this Kyra's started. That gives players over two weeks to claim rewards with the catalysts they have, which should be plenty of time for active players.

There were more than a few threads all talking about Kyra's Pop-up potion shack. They've all been merged into this thread. Please don't make additional threads for this topic. Post your feedback and questions here instead. Thanks!

There will be a brief maintenance tomorrow starting at 9:45 am PDT. It should only last about 15 minutes.

When it's over, Kyra's Pop-Up Potion Shack will be back!! See the full news article here:

A bit late, but I wanted to thank the team for this stream, was a bit short and felt a bit rushed but I think it was a good approach, it's been a while since there was a stream focused in guiding new players.

Thanks very much Cezzare! I think I'd like to revisit the topic again sometime, possibly with a longer stream. My hope this time was to give a brief overview that would also be helpful after the stream was done, for future level 65's who wanted things explained in video format (or even as a companion to the Essential Mana guide, which I think is an excellent primer).
After looking at a number of support tickets that came in and tracking those accounts down in the game logs, we determined that a small number of accounts lost TERA reward credits and points during a DDoS attack. Our operations team has given me a list of people on MT that were affected and I'm in the process of manually adding back the missing points and credits. I will get a list of the players on the other servers over the next couple of days and credit them as well.

Real question is why is a warrior on the promo picture?

Because all the ninjas died to aoe before the picture was taken.
Game modding is against the TERA Terms of Service and shouldn't be discussed in the forums. I've removed some posts from this thread which discuss modding of game files.

A lot of players who end up modifying their game files break the game, or wind up with a broken client after game updates. Customer Support gets a lot of tickets like these and while they should be able to help restore your TERA client to a playable state, the easiest solution is to stop modding your game.

Here's a link to make a support ticket: http://support.enmasse.com/tera/tickets/submit
Those specs are pretty good. You should definitely be able to run TERA without issue. I'd suggest putting in a customer support ticket to get this resolved. The CS crew is pretty experienced when it comes to troubleshooting this kind of stuff: http://support.enmasse.com/tera/tickets/submit

I think what Counterpoint said about self-perpetuating prophecies is true. When a discussion like "X server is dying" begins, it's an easy thing to catch on. Expectations change based off hearing it.

They're remarkably close in population and activity. I'm really really telling you the truth. For real.

I mean... I realize there are Highwatch players in this thread who aren't getting what they expect at various times of the day. Items you're trying to sell but you aren't getting anyone to buy them. Groups for certain dungeons (instance matching works across all servers, by the way) that you aren't getting. I'm glad some of you switched to other servers with a happy outcome, but there isn't much I can tell you that I haven't already.

LETS IMS SSHM iight.

In all seriousness though, It's not about the number of population really...It's the quality and you know what they say Quality > Quantity.
We have hardly any quality anymore...Me, and some of the others in this thread have nurtured and bred alot of people on highwatch..Every patch we have todo it..Myself I've switched class mains all the time just because it's what we need and couldn't find anywhere. We just..We can't do it anymore.

It sounds like you could use some guildies to run dungeons with. Unless that's what you mean by breeding other quality players, it sounds like there are people out there but you just don't want to group with them or help them out because you already helped other people in the past.

You guys need to look at players as something more than just a statistic.

What makes you say this in a thread discussing server population and activity?

What about our morale? You keep us happy we'll keep your game running.

As your Community Manager I promise I'll do my best, and I hope people are happy with the state of the game, but it sounds like you want to talk about a completely different topic than this thread is about. We're talking about the number of people playing, and I responded saying the number of people on Highwatch is very similar to other servers with players who don't share your complaint, and now you're being cynical and acting as though I'm treating you like a number instead of a person. I'm really not sure what else you're asking, though!

Today Community Manager Spacecats (oh, that's me) will stream a brief guide for players just hitting level 65. Essential Mana's Character Progression guide by Zephya inspired me to illustrate the progression from Idoneal gear up to ilevel 409, which is when players can access dungeons like Wonderholme and Shadow Sanguinary.

The goal is to make things as clear as possible for newer players out there, so if you have your own tips and tricks to share, please do so in Twitch chat and I'll call you out for your awesome contributions!

The livestream begins 6/24 (today) at 3:00 p.m. PDT on the En Masse Twitch channel! https://www.twitch.tv/enmasseentertainment

Steadfast tokens should still be distributing for another hour or so, however the costumes available from the KS and VG credits were removed with maintenance this morning.
After having another department look into the cause of this issue, they confirmed that the issue is actually on Steams end of things, and possibly due to the high volume of traffic Steam is experiencing from the recently announced Summer Sale.

The best advice I can provide at them moment is to wait a while, and then try again during a non-peak time to see if it's still happening.

A thread with more comments isn't more important than a thread with fewer comments.

As long as we're here and so are you, can you give us more informations about "weekly communication" that was said to be coming a month or two ago ?

Are you talking about the weekly reveals on the new game update? The Aces Wild page updates every Tuesday.
What abouts events, after the caiman events there's was supposed to be another event, what about it ?

What about roostock event, we still have no idea when you're going to activate it ?

Sorry but you aren't giving much context here. There will always be more events. For instance a jackpot event was just announced yesterday. News posts are always the best place to look when it comes to these kinds of announcements. Rootstock is an Autumn-themed festival, so it makes no sense to run it now.

What about MWA issue, do you aknowledge it or not ? do you have any plan about it ?

There are ways to get Alkahest right now. MWA boxes aren't going anywhere, and Bonanza Boxes are still available in Killing Spree/Bellicarium stores. The jackpot event also increases the amount of MWA out there.
What about just communication, there's several people asking for more communication from you, because players are left in the dark, are you aware of it and what's your plan about it ?

I respond where possible. Sorry if there's something pressing that you feel needs a response, but answers aren't always readily available.

I've deleted multiple comments in this thread. Please remember that "+1 pls eme" and similar bumps add nothing to the conversation except spam. If you agree with a comment, please hit the "Like" reaction to show your respect.

As far as loot goes, I'm checking with the production team to see what plans are in place in order to reward players for Dreadspire. As you can see the Aces Wild page only gives a few details. Please don't make any assumptions before the dungeon has even been released, because it will only lead to rumors. Thanks!

Yup! It will take a few days to process, but it's on the way!
There's been some talk of disqualifying one of the winning entries of the contest. I wanted to briefly post here to let you know that every piece that was entered into the contest was reviewed by our creative team. The entries that won were all determined to be in compliance with the contest guidelines. Now that the contest is over I'd like to request that all accusations stop. This should be a moment where we congratulate the winners of the Ninja Loading Screen contest, and not attempt to criticize them or lessen their achievement.

I've removed several comments in this thread that are negative in nature, and might serve to discourage or slander the people who spent hours of their time creating works of art for the TERA community to enjoy.
The steadfast tokens stop distributing at 5pm on Thursday.
I've removed some images and player callouts in this thread. If you believe a player is trying to scam others, report them to Customer Support so they can be investigated by a GM.

In this case, a player was listing Elite 1-Day Vouchers at the same price other people were listing Elite 30-Day Vouchers. I think it's a stretch to call this a scam. There are a lot of factors here that could help explain their behavior, but at the end of the day the item is still properly labeled as 1-Day, and there is no rule against pricing things at any amount you want.

I'm closing this thread because I don't think there needs to be any more discussion over it. Again if you see behavior you think is shady, report to CS so they can determine a proper outcome.
we'll fix this on thursday. the contents will be the same as last seasons. sorry about this.
Sorry for the delay in getting these patch notes up. The following are effective as of today's maintenance:

- Added the loading screens of the winners and honorable mentions from the Ninja Loading Screen Contest.
- Fixed a bug in Celestial Arena where a buff was not behaving as intended when leaving the Arena.

These will be posted in the Patch Notes section of the TERA site later today.
I've edited more than a couple posts that include player names/callouts.

PKing is part of TERA life on PvP servers, so I want to believe there's an actual conversation here. PKing can happen without turning into harassment. Please keep the conversation on topic and try to have fun with it. DO NOT let this discussion become a topic of player harassment. On the flip side, if you're offended that players are killing lower level characters, please don't use this as a platform to, in turn, harass those who enjoy playing that way.

I'm confused why this wasn't a winner or even an honorable mention... I know art is subjective but I find it really odd this one didn't make it in. To me it's absolutely beautiful and looks like they spent a lot of time with it. Also EME I know you want variety but please think of where people will see it, it's a loading screen not a wallpaper.

That piece by Zhagal was one of my favorites, and obviously took a lot of time and effort. Definitely a beautiful piece!

Please welcome Emlly! She is the Writing Team Lead here at En Masse Entertainment.

If you've ever wondered about the life of a video game writer & localization expert, now's your chance to ask some questions! Consider this your chance to find out more about our process here at EME. I'll leave this thread pinned until end of the work day Friday. Until then, Emlly will answer all the questions she can.

Keep the following in mind when posting in this thread:

Prime Directive: Be polite to Emlly!

One question per post. It keeps things tidy and significantly increases the chances you'll get a response from our guest.

Be succinct. No rants. This kind of goes along with the "be polite" Prime Directive. This isn't the place to post long rants or giant lists that hijack the thread. Please make your own threads for such things.

Below are some questions I asked Emlly to get the conversation started:

Please describe the kind of work you do.
I’m going to answer that in 2 parts… 1) What the writing team does and 2) what I do

Most of the Writing Team’s time is localization—spent putting words into the games we publish. Localization is a step beyond just translating. We get a rough English translation of the developer’s Korean text, but it’s usually translated by a team of non-gamers. So terms aren’t always translated consistently. One translator may translate a word as “strength,” another as “force,” and yet another as “power.” For most people, that’d be fine. But we gamers know that Strength, Force, and Power almost always mean 3 different things in game. So the Writing Team finds where the word is used in game, determines if it’s the same or different as other words we’ve used elsewhere, and rewrites the line accordingly.

Another big aspect of localization is making sure the Western gamer aesthetic is reflected in the quests and NPC dialog of our games. Asian players are perfectly happy to “do X.” But many Western players want to know “why do X.” Especially when X is give a message to that NPC 3 feet away. We do our best to give meaning to the NPCs and quests and make them entertaining.

I can sum up Localization at EME in two phrases:
1. Remove barriers to understanding
2. Infuse our games with emotion

In addition to the Writing Team work above, I spend about 10% of my time on administrivia—organizing files we work on, arranging schedules for our projects, and protecting my team from all the distracting stuff (a key task I learned from the previous team leads).

How does your work specifically affect TERA?
All the words you read in all the products, UI, quests, and NPCs were written by the Writing Team.

Tell us about your TERA experience.
I started at EME as a localization writer for TERA over 6 years ago before Bluehole finished making all the races. My primary focus before launch was the make sure all the items got meaningful names and the UI all made sense. At the time we had a different writer working to become subject matter experts on each race and each class. I was responsible for the poporis, elins, and priests.

As a player, my favorite character is a female amani lancer. Which surprised me (the lancer part, not the amani part).

Favorite TV shows.
Jessica Jones and Orphan Black. They can’t make them fast enough for me.

What are some of your hobbies?
Graphic design. I love taking text and shapes and making them pretty.

What Hogwarts house do you fit in best?
Ravenclaw

Favorite TERA race, and how would the real world react if a portal from TERA opened and spit out a thousand of them?
I love the amani and want to do more with their story. If there were a thousand dragon-esque warriors in the the real world, I’d do my best to befriend them...with food!

If you could only eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would you pick?
Crab.

What makes a book great? What are some of your favorites?
Stories that makes me think “what if,” and situations that use intelligence to succeed. Hopefully both. Bonus points if they make me laugh, too. I’m fond of books by Terry Pratchett, Robert J. Sawyer, and speaking of can’t make them fast enough, Patrick Rothfuss.
I checked our server logs, game settings logs and talked to our production team, but I haven't found a reason why some players would see their TERA reward points and/or credits change. I confirmed that we haven't performed a SQL server rollback nor did we run any scripts to remove credits from blocks of players. I have some ideas on what could cause balances to change:

1. The total Rewards points that a player has is based on adding up the points earned by completing in-game quests and points rewarded for purchasing items with EMP. The TERA client adds those values together and updates the in-game UI. Occasionally, like during lag spikes, the client has trouble communicating with our account server so point values are not properly totaled. You can check for this error by logging out and logging back in to see if your TERA points values have changed.
2. Sometimes people modify files or install mods that can interfere with the rewards UI. If your UI is showing "VIP" instead of "TERA Rewards", there is a good chance that you may have a file that is interfering with the rewards UI.

If you continue to have problems with reward points or credits, please put in a support ticket. Our support team can help you track down what is happening with your account.

I am able to confirm what the rest of these players have said is true. If you go that route, you're choosing to take an action that is in violation of the Terms of Service / Rules of Conduct.
There can be a number of things causing problems with patching. I would start with the steps from this knowledgebase article:

http://support.enmasse.com/tera/patch-progress-stuck-on-applying-patch

You also want to make sure that you didn't rename files, modify configuration files, or download modifications as all of those can cause problems with the patching process.

If that did not work for you, I would next check the space available on your hard drive. The launcher requires about 80 GB of free space to install and patch TERA.

If that doesn't work, I would next check to see if an anti-virus program is interfering with the install. People have been reporting problems with Windows Defender:

http://forums.enmasse.com/tera/discussion/comment/9862#Comment_9862

If the patching process for the launcher continues to give you lots of problems, you could consider downloading the game through Steam if it available in your region. Steam uses a binary comparison process to patch the game files instead of the zip manifest system our regular launcher uses.

If none of the above methods work for you, please consider creating a support ticket and talking to our customer service representatives. The wait time right now is a little long since we are still catching up on the tickets from the last patch, but it is the best option if the above suggestions do not fix the problem you are having.

the i-frame extensions for jaunt and backstep are there. for some reason we were told not to include in the notes, but since they are in other publisher notes, i'm confirming it here.

on the scythe - the 20% increase in base damage by 20% was the first change in KR, followed by a 17% decrease in PVP damage in a next patch in KR. The result is that from our current NA patch to this next patch, we aren't really seeing a difference in PVP damage, since the first patch nullified the decrease in the second patch. This is what we tested and found as well.

There's one weapon skin in particular I've been waiting to make a return (Nut Hatch) and it's good to see there's a chance for it, but I wonder if the smart box for it will still be unable to be traded. I hope they changed that.

I can confirm that the Nut Hatch weapon skin contained in the Weapon Skin Loot Box released today is indeed tradable.
Any updates on felicity in Elite Boxes? The golden pig is great and all, but it's just not dank enough.

this is already done.
I think we are in the clear yet but still monitoring. Veteran Reset Scrolls will be given out to all players who log in until midnight PT (next 6 hours).
HW is back up.
HW is down again.
When people see Mystics and Priests in a group they expect them to heal. I get that you do damage too, but it would be pretty confusing, especially considering instance matching is random people who don't know what you're up to. If you're really into balancing groups/classes differently than the norm, I'd suggest getting a static group together. With people that can trust that your Mystic DPS is up to snuff, and won't expect you to heal them.

Sorry all, we have to take MT down to troubleshoot a problem.
MT and HW are back up, but we are still seeing heavy incoming traffic floods.
Details for a future TERA update were given in today's news article. Give us your thoughts in this thread!
Boring of wait?

that's awful.

Aw I came to internet cafe to play at better frames.

no biggie though. I'll just surf around KTERA for info as I wait for their patch note to translate.

we'll have that info out shortly, but there are some good translations out already.

How shortly is shortly? Like hours, days, weeks?

Thanks in advance <3

The basic info part is in hours. The Q&A translation needs some final approval so probably tomorrow.

Please direct further discussion around the 6/15 server trouble to this thread: http://forums.enmasse.com/tera/discussion/2905/connections-issues-6-15-2016-3-55pm-pt#latest
We're aware of the server issues, and our ops team is currently investigating. Only MT seems to have gone down completely.

I've moderated several comments in this discussion. Please try to keep things on topic!

Feed the popos that run the server.

they may have been overfed.

Time to get new popos

in this case, it's not the popos that are the problem. but we are getting some new ones anyway.

We are experiencing some connection issues right now. Servers are up but you may experience extreme lag or not be able to log in at all. Will update when I know more.

Correction - MT is down.
yup we are seeing the same thing and on it.
Did this just start today, or does your friend get lag spikes all the time?
There's some exciting stuff coming with the Aces Wild update, but the info given during Bluehole's recent Q&A is talking about planned content that's even further in the future. To avoid confusion between all the different TERA update info floating around between regions, I recommend just keeping an eye on the Aces Wild page for Tuesday updates.

That said, there are some class balance changes that won't show on the Aces Wild page, but will be in the update. I'll work to get those posted in the forums leading up to the update. They're currently being validated by QA, so once Singlebear's team is done with them, you'll get to see them yourself.

Please see today's news post. Bamarama arena is back every 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. PDT until July 7!

The best thing to do when you see these is notify customer support by submitting a ticket with the player's name. Calling them out on the forums does nothing. http://support.enmasse.com/tera/tickets/submit
I've moved this to the General Discussion forums, but I'd suggest opening a Customer Support ticket if you're still having trouble getting your additional character slot activated.

Here's a link to create a ticket: http://support.enmasse.com/tera/tickets/submit

In addition, you might want to make sure you actually right-clicked the Character Slot voucher in your inventory. You claim the voucher in Item Claim, and it goes into your character inventory. You need to consume it from your inventory before it gives you an extra character slot on that server (you only get the slot on the server you claimed the voucher on).
FYI I hope to start messaging people in the next day or two. We received over 140 applications. A LOT of qualified people applied, but there are only a handful of open spots, so it's pretty difficult to narrow down the list.

TRICKS!! There are no patch notes this week! Just posting this to confirm, so people don't continue to wait for patch notes that will never come.

Have a happy Tuesday.
it's back on.
They won't be fighting each other. This is more like a test of endurance. The BAMs will get harder and harder with each wave.
The top post has been updated. We believe the server disconnects are over and that things have stabilized.

Join us on 6/10 at 3:00 p.m. PDT as we show you a series.... OF SURVIVAAAAAAL!

Last month several lovely YouTube personalities created guilds for a competition. Those who joined their guilds got a temp flying mount and a ninja costume, plus a chance to win an actual ninja shuriken. They were challenged to reach level 30 by 6/10. They were also told that on 6/10, they would be challenged with some kind of deadly BAM event. This is that BAM event.

Details will be given on the air, but the rules are pretty straightforward. Those who enter the gauntlet WILL DIE. The question is "who among our challengers can survive the longest?!"

The guilds are:
Good luck to all!
