It's been the most-asked question since we first debuted TERA: "Where do I sign up to test the game?" The answer is right here on the official TERA website!

Today we're proud to announce we've launched our TERA Beta Sign-Up, the next step toward TERA's launch this spring. TERA's beta tests, originally called preview events, will start off with closed phases requiring invitations to each session and will end with an open beta test accessible by everyone just before TERA launches. To add yourself as a potential TERA beta tester during the closed beta tests, you'll need to sign up.

Signing up is easy: just enter your email address in the appropriate box on the front page of TERA-Online.com or visit our TERA Beta Sign-Up for more details.

Totally deserved.
Yes, if you pre-order the collector's edition, you will receive both mounts. Digital or physical edition.

As for questions about one-off cancellations, hit up our support page: http://tera-support.enmasse.com
Addendum: the mounts are different depending on where you pre-ordered from. The white stallion is an En Masse store exclusive. We'll have more details on the other mounts later on.
Glad to have everyone back!

Seems I've some more news posts to make.

By the way Scapes, is there any ETA on when who's been selected for CBT1 will be revealed?

Thanks.

Yessir. Invitations will be sent out by the end of this week. (We won't provide a list of them. That would be a lot of names.)

This is going to take a little bit of getting used to. I keep looking for things (like "Mark Read"). ;O)

It's like a new pair of glasses. There's an adjustment period.
We're proud to announce that TERA is now available for pre-order on the En Masse Entertainment store! Pre-ordering will grant access to all of TERA's five closed beta tests and allow players to retain their characters and their progress for the duration of the closed beta period from February to April. Interested in learning more about the beta tests? Check out TERA's beta test schedule!

Pre-ordering from the En Masse Entertainment store also rewards players with the White Stallion, a unique mount, in addition to a level 10 City Wheel Earring, a level 35 Seren's Sand Ring, the ability to create a character and reserve its name before launch, and access to the exclusive Head Start play period over the weekend prior to TERA's launch on May 1.

In addition to a standard edition, TERA will be available in two collector's editions as well —a traditional boxed edition and a digital download. Both will grant players unique in-game items, including the Regal Frostlion Mount for in-game mounted travel, and two equippable items: the level 15 Velik's Bloodstone Necklace and the level 40 Shakan's Bloodstone Necklace.

Available in limited quantities, the physical Limited Collector's Edition will include collectable items such as a Letter of Marque, a canvas world map, a field guide, a Valkyon Federation-issued compass, and a game soundtrack. All versions of TERA include 30 days of game time. Also, players who subscribe to TERA for three, six, or twelve month intervals will receive inaugural pricing. These reduced rates won't be available after May 1 when subscriptions begin so lock yours in before it's too late!

TERA can also be pre-ordered from major retailers including Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart, Target, and Amazon. Visit our pre-order page for more details.

We look forward to seeing you in TERA's first closed beta test starting February 10!

It's like a new pair of glasses. There's an adjustment period.
Over the last few months, we’ve been working behind the scenes to provide a new, optimized web experience for TERA. Our goal is to provide an easy and intuitive all-in-one system where users can create, access, and manage web and game features. To that end, we are excited to launch our new online platform in anticipation of TERA’s imminent beta tests and launch on May 1!

Let’s introduce what’s new! We’ve entirely revamped TERA’s website and are building new forums to match. As part of the new TERA experience, we’ve optimized our account system to easily manage your profile and settings. Your En Masse account will be tied to your email address, and will manage your game accounts, public identity, support tickets, store purchases, communication preferences, security preferences, and more. We’ve also launched our Customer Support knowledge base which will serve as your go-to place for questions about TERA, your En Masse account, and more.

If you already made a TERA-Online.com account, we have migrated your account credentials and information. Please login to your account to review and update your account information in the new account system. If you’ve forgotten your credentials, click “Problems logging in?” on the login screen, and we will send you directions to help you access to your account.

We’re working to bring the new forums online as quickly as possible; please pardon our dust as we finish construction. In the meantime, join us on TERA’s Facebook and Twitter pages where we’ll be devoting extra attention and making sure that you’re kept up to date on the latest developments and able to discuss them with the rest of the community. Although we anticipate the new forums will be live in the next few days, we’ll keep you updated on our progress should an extended downtime become necessary. Thank you for your patience!

From all of us here at En Masse Entertainment, we welcome you to TERA’s new home online and we look forward to rolling out new updates and features to our online platform as we near TERA’s launch on May 1!

Do you miss challenging gameplay? Skill-based gameplay? Rewarding gameplay? Are you longing to get excited about an MMO again? Louder—we can’t hear you! You should be shouting at your monitor, “Hell, yes!”

Welcome to the MMO-FO movement. We reject boring, easy-mode, childish MMORPGs. We hate no-skill tab targeting, repetitive attack rotations, and mindless grinding. We want a game that requires player skill, a game that rewards mastery, and a game that actually challenges us. That game is TERA.

To celebrate the upcoming launch of this innovative game, En Masse Entertainment is debuting a new series of videos throughout the closed beta period. This video series, starring mixed martial arts legend Bas Rutten, brings the concept of action combat to life as only Bas can. To get you started on the road to being an MMO-FO, watch our first video right here.

Think you're already an MMO-FO? Believe that you don't just play hard mode, you ARE hard mode? Answer our questions on the MMO-FO Facebook page and we'll see how you size up.

Yes, the retailer you pre-order the collector's edition from will be responsible for sending out the game codes before February 10 (assuming you pre-ordered before that date).
AvalonBright on 2012-02-02 00:06:20 UTC
That inaugural pricing isn't exactly anything to write home about.

An $8.95 per month rate isn't anything to write home about? I, for one, disagree.

Welp, that certainly isn't working as intended. Fixing.
Eager to get your hands on TERA before its launch this coming May? We've got you covered with plenty of opportunities to do just that! TERA's beta test schedule spans from February to April and includes closed beta tests, an open beta test, and the newly-announced Head Start play period.

  • Closed Beta Test 1: February 10 – 12
  • Closed Beta Test 2: February 24 – 26
  • Closed Beta Test 3: March 9 – 11
  • Closed Beta Test 4: March 23 – 25
  • Closed Beta Test 5: April 6 – 8
  • Open Beta Test: April 19 – 22
  • Head Start: April 28 – May 1

We will be hosting five closed beta tests for TERA starting February 10, each lasting about 60 hours from Friday at 12:00 PM PST to Sunday at 11:59 PM PST of that week. Those who have signed up for beta have a chance to be randomly selected to participate in single events. Players who pre-order TERA will gain access to all five closed beta tests and be allowed to retain their characters and their progress for the duration of the closed beta period.

TERA's open beta test starting on April 19 will be open to all who sign up. Finally, the Head Start is an event exclusively for players who pre-order TERA, taking place the weekend before TERA's launch on May 1. There will be no non-disclosure agreement (NDA) during any of these events so feel free to screenshot, film, and write about your experiences and share them with your friends and guildmates!

Learn more about how to pre-order TERA or read our pre-order announcement!

Not sure if you guys know about this issue, but it looks like the icon for "Hot_Topic_New_Replies" isn't loading up.

Thanks for the report! This is a known issues and will be hot-fixed soon.

Will this be a function later on? Or will more Avatars become available with time?

The plan right now is to only allow pre-set avatars as defined by us. We may look into integrating avatars based on your in-game characters at a later date, but completely-custom avatars are not a feature we plan on implementing.

Kinda weird that the nickname is assumed by the forum software in caps.

Can you explain what you mean by the all caps for your name? The forum renders them as Capital Case. For example, yours shows as Soulness.

Soulness on 2012-02-01 23:41:39 UTC
Also we miss the smilie action there used to be on the older forums.

Emoticons are planned to be added at later date. We wanted to make sure we got the forums up sooner rather than waiting for everything to be done before we went live. :)

Soulness on 2012-02-01 23:41:39 UTC
And on top of that, we can't post pictures... >.<

Sure you can! Use the following syntax, but replace the parentheses with square brackets (like [ and ]):

Hmm, if this quote doesn't work, it appears that it's not parsing double quotes properly

Known issue!

The Popori Community frowns on your shenanigans. Any ETA for the Popori Avatar?

Rest assured, all races will be properly reflected in future avatar updates!

I've added this to the list of items. Thanks for the report!
A mobile version of the forums is definitely something we've discussed. The forum accounts for a large chunk of our mobile traffic. There are no specific plans yet, but this is on our radar. :)
Valadhiel on 2012-02-02 00:14:21 UTC
I like how general your title to this thread is, so I'm going to borrow it to add something else that doesn't fit into the thread that I created.

We will be doing a style pass. There are issues where the style that was implemented is a bit out of alignment with what was designed.

Also, please feel free to create new threads for new issues. It's a lot easier for us to notice your issue if you give it a new thread rather than adding it to someone else's thread. As long as it's not a duplicate, you won't get any complaints from us!
A dev tracker in on the list of one of our future forum phases. :)
It does appear that the timeout is a bit aggressive. We've noted it in our "Known Issues" list. Thanks for the report!
Fatwa on 2012-02-02 00:50:05 UTC
Until then, we shall bite your ankles.

I'm used to it. Scapes does it at least once a day. :)
+1

Seriously, though, thanks for the report. It's definitely on our radar. :)
Nice job!!!
We will release more and more details as we get closer but the goal is...

Closed Beta ->wipe characters -> Name Reservation (pre-order only) -> Open Beta (pre-order/public) -> Head Start (pre-order only) -> Live!

We are monitoring the name situation and have some ideas if it is a problem. By the way we name characters in TERA a bit different to hopefully allow for more diversification and combos of names. Essentially you are allowed to put two periods in your name. For example...

Kaehns.The.Bold instead of Kaehnsthebold

We think it gives quite a few more options.
Kersey on 2012-02-02 00:28:18 UTC
Cool idea. Is there no way to just space though instead of periods? Kaehns The Bold?

Created a ton of issues with whispers and unique ID's. May happen one day but right now it looks pretty good. This is something I want to see beta feedback on.

Closed Beta ->wipe characters -> Name Reservation (pre-order only) -> Open Beta (pre-order/public) -> Head Start (pre-order only) -> Live!

How will the name reservations work? I have a certain name I'm really eager to claim for myself, and I don't want to miss out on it.

We haven't released the details yet but the Closed Beta Test 5 ends April 8th and the Open Beta Test begins April 19th so.... between there :)
This is as intended. We'll have the full game ready to download prior to the first CBT.

Hello TERA community! My name is Evan "Scapes" Berman and I am the Senior Community Manager here at En Masse Entertainment. Here is a brief background blurb about me originally penned many moons ago:

"Evan began his gamer life with an Apple IIC playing memorable two-tone titles held on floppy floppies. First embarking online while ISPs still charged per minute and Geocities was Facebook, it was only natural that his love of multiplayer would later translate into a position at Flagship Studios, taking him away from advertising firm Crispin Porter + Bogusky and across the nation to join a new industry. Originally a Hellgate: London fansite operator, he used his official role of Community Manager to liaise between players and developers for the improvement of the game. Most recently, he explored the free-to-play realm, participating in the launch of THQ*ICE’s Dragonica Online and championing its social media outreach. He is elated to be a member of the En Masse Entertainment powerhouse working on an MMORPG as beautiful and immersive as TERA."
