Some retailers will offer the En Masse pre-order for money down and not the full price. We will have more information from the retailers soon.

Turning around patches based on your feedback is absolutely a goal for us. Major content and updates will be a bit behind due to localization needs, but we have a team dedicated to turning around fixes for our communities needs without waiting on any other markets.

Once we launch TERA in NA our communities needs will be different than other territories and we want to ensure we are ready to react.

This is just a beginning, it is far from final. We have much of the functionality of the old forums planned and being worked on.

Adding more avatars to select from is high up on the list. So is editing, previewing, and polls. Font sizing and colors are in but we're going to limit some of the color selections to a minimum to prevent abuse (camouflaging text, for instance). Also, we do plan to set an En Masse staff post color, probably a blue. Two things that won't be returning include multiple font options and signatures.

This thread will list all known issues with the website and forums. It will be edited and added to as needed, so be sure to check back if you're encountering a problem as there may be a workaround.

Website

The beta sign-up form will be added to the sidebar.

Forums

Square brackets, parentheses, and some BBcode is forcing a carriage return when it shouldn't.
There is no WYSIWYG interface available when writing posts. Workaround: most BBcode is parsed by the forums regardless. You can find sample BBcode tags here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBCode

Alignment BBcode is not being parsed, such as left, right, center.
Polls aren't available yet.
URLs appear in a strange color.
There aren't enough avatar images.
The forums do not have the favicon that the rest of the TERA site has.
There is no post preview.
A text box needs to be added to the reporting pane for users to add context for their report.
BBcode needs to be able to nest. Currently, some BBcode cancels out other BBcode when it surrounds the same string.
Moving a thread while another user is posting to it can break the formatting of the page. Actions taken on a thread should not be processed simultaneously as it can cause collisions.
The ability to preview how a post will appear when published needs to be added.
The ability to create subforums, forum sections within forum sections, need to be added.
The ability to adjust the word filter and control what replaces a filtered word needs to be added.
The â€œPagesâ€ column in the thread indexes is not needed and should be removed.
The number of posts per page should default to 10.
An account setting should be added that allows the number of posts per page to be changed for that account.
The â€œedited byâ€ note should look different from the post body

A usergroup setting that adds a forum title for the entire usergroup in addition to any individual title needs to be added.
BBcode needs to be parsed by the forum title text box.
Quotes need to be able to nest. Currently, BBcode shows as broken if

The right angle bracket is rendering as HTML code

The â€œall capsâ€ font in the forum index and thread indexes needs to be changed to something not â€œall capsâ€.

En Masse Entertainment is thrilled to announce TERA's official release date to its dedicated community! Following a series of closed beta tests and an open beta test, TERA will launch in North America on:

May 1, 2012

TERA will be available in Standard and Collector's Editions at retail and online stores. TERA's retail version will be distributed by Atari. We'll reveal details of each edition's contents in February.

Over the last few months, weâ€™ve been working behind the scenes to provide a new, optimized web experience for TERA. Our goal is to provide an easy and intuitive all-in-one system where users can create, access, and manage web and game features. To that end, we are excited to launch our new online platform in anticipation of TERAâ€™s imminent beta tests and launch on May 1!

Letâ€™s introduce whatâ€™s new! Weâ€™ve entirely revamped TERAâ€™s website and are building new forums to match. As part of the new TERA experience, weâ€™ve optimized our account system to easily manage your profile and settings. Your En Masse account will be tied to your email address, and will manage your game accounts, public identity, support tickets, store purchases, communication preferences, security preferences, and more. Eager to get your hands on TERA before its launch this coming May? We've got you covered with plenty of opportunities to do just that! TERA's beta test schedule spans from February to April and includes closed beta tests, an open beta test, and the newly-announced Head Start play period.

Closed Beta Test 1: February 10 â€“ 12
Closed Beta Test 2: February 24 â€“ 26
Closed Beta Test 3: March 9 â€“ 11
Closed Beta Test 4: March 23 â€“ 25
Closed Beta Test 5: April 6 â€“ 8
Open Beta Test: April 19 â€“ 22
Head Start: April 28 â€“ May 1

We will be hosting five closed beta tests for TERA starting February 10, each lasting about 60 hours from Friday at 12:00 PM PST to Sunday at 11:59 PM PST of that week. Those who have signed up for beta have a chance to be randomly selected to participate in single events. Players who pre-order TERA will gain access to all five closed beta tests and be allowed to retain their characters and their progress for the duration of the closed beta period.

TERA's open beta test starting on April 19 will be open to all who sign up. Finally, the Head Start is an event exclusively for players who pre-order TERA, taking place the weekend before TERA's launch on May 1. There will be no non-disclosure agreement (NDA) during any of these events so feel free to screenshot, film, and write about your experiences and share them with your friends and guildmates!

The plan right now is to only allow pre-set avatars as defined by us. We may look into integrating avatars based on your in-game characters at a later date, but completely-custom avatars are not a feature we plan on implementing.

Can you explain what you mean by the all caps for your name? The forum renders them as Capital Case. For example, yours shows as Soulness.

Sure you can! Use the following syntax, but replace the parentheses with square brackets (like [ and ]):

A mobile version of the forums is definitely something we've discussed. The forum accounts for a large chunk of our mobile traffic. There are no specific plans yet, but this is on our radar. :)

We will release more and more details as we get closer but the goal is...

Closed Beta ->wipe characters -> Name Reservation (pre-order only) -> Open Beta (pre-order/public) -> Head Start (pre-order only) -> Live!

We are monitoring the name situation and have some ideas if it is a problem. By the way we name characters in TERA a bit different to hopefully allow for more diversification and combos of names. Essentially you are allowed to put two periods in your name. For example...

Kaehns.The.Bold instead of Kaehnsthebold

We think it gives quite a few more options.

How will the name reservations work? I have a certain name I'm really eager to claim for myself, and I don't want to miss out on it.

We haven't released the details yet but the Closed Beta Test 5 ends April 8th and the Open Beta Test begins April 19th so.... between there :)
