Today's the moment you guys have been waiting for!

(Especially @LesbianVi, leave us alone now damn you!)

The new gear progression update is about to hit (Tuesday, October 10), and there's some important information to share about how the new enchanting and upgrade system will work, what materials you'll get from where, and what to expect on day 1. You have all hopefully checked out EssentialMana's Gear Revamp Guide that went out yesterday. This was a collaboration project between EME and EM (with more in the future, we hope) and should be a huge help in getting caught up. Our stream today should be a good verbal explanation to accompany that guide.

I'll be joined on the air by Scott-James today. I'll serve as your usual host, and he will be our information expert. Scott-James is on the En Masse writing team and was the primary for localizing the update.

Because today's stream is a bit different, we won't have an item code or any raffles today. The sole focus will be preview and education.

The show begins at 3 p.m. PDT right here: https://go.twitch.tv/enmasseentertainment

Apologies for that. Demoros didn't want to play nicely with others. Such a diva.

It should be running fine now and I reset the dungeon.
Ah! I'll give it a try.
There is an issue with the event. I'm resetting it and should have it fixed in a few minutes. I'll update the news post afterwards.

@SingleBear tested it and found that this isn't an issue in our version of the build. Should be good to go next week.

Im soo confused and scared of the upcoming revamp

I really suggest you watch the livestream today if you can; I think it will help a bunch. I was scared too, tbh, but after Scott walked me through it all it actually made WAY more sense to me than the existing enchanting systems and gear chase.
Also, @Spacecats makes fun of me for writing posts like I write emails. I think I'm in the right. What do you think?
Howdy!

Today a few things have gone live I wanted to bring to your attention. The Arsenal page was updated with super high level information about the updated gear progression system going live on Tuesday, October 10th here: http://tera.enmasse.com/arsenal#gear

Also, Essential Mana has posted 2 far more in-depth guides (that will only get more and more updated as the build launches next week) on:

Gear Progression
https://essentialmana.com/gear-revamp-guide/

Crafting Revamp
https://essentialmana.com/revamp-crafting/

Tomorrow, on the weekly Twitch livestream, Spacecats will be joined by Scott James Magner, one of our EME gurus that will give us all a hands on walkthrough of what this all will mean!

We're getting excited to finally get this released to you next week!

The promo page revealed the outline of the new system. Spacecats is going to do the walkthrough tomorrow. Sorry for the confusion.

why does every game have this sort of person? i will never understand why people want to just get rid of past skins in a game.

Those masks weren't cosmetic by nature, they were achievement items, people worked for those masks, specially Exarch mask. They shouldn't give them away under any other circumstances, only doing alliance. I don't know why you people can't understand this. It is like I get a shinny Title that people got from doing VSH and HH from a 4K EMP loot box.

Rest assured, they will not be part of Kyra's. Those are trophies, not costumes.

Thanks, off-topic, We get more details today about gear progression, cause Arsenal page is kind updated, or we see more details with tomorrow stream?

Tomorrow's Twitch stream will have more of a walkthrough session, I believe. You'll see how things work and get a clearer picture of the new system.

The “Arsenal” update is right around the corner, bringing big changes to the gear progression in TERA. To help players prepare, this weekend we’re running a double enchanting event and highlighting the Demon’s Wheel!

Starting Friday, October 6 at 10 a.m. PDT, and running until maintenance on Tuesday, October 10, enchanting your weapons and armor to +12 is easier, thanks to our enchanting event!

Sadly, Demoros and his Demon’s Wheel are going away next week, so we wanted to give all the gamblers some extra shots at prizes. Winning the Demon’s Wheel dungeon gives you a chance to get:

Starglow costume loot box ×1
Obsidian Airwolf loot box
Angora Air loot box ×1
Dyeable SWAT Locker ×1
Superior Noctenium Elixir ×1

Take a run at the Demon's Wheel and see if the luck of the Sky Whale is on your side!
Hey all, thanks for all of the feedback.

As noted in today's announcement, while some details have been revealed, we haven't talked about full details of the crafting system yet. From Seandynamite's post today:

"Alone, these conversion rates do not paint a full picture of the changes rolling out with the patch next Tuesday. The token shop prices, the amounts of materials that tokens are exchanged for, the different materials needed for enchanting, and other details of the new system have not yet been publicly shared in an official capacity by En Masse Entertainment."

We're going to be going into greater depth later this week. If you have reservations, please stay tuned for more info. If you missed the latest announcement, you can read it here: https://forums.enmasse.com/tera/discussion/18001/statement-regarding-yesterdays-release-of-dismantling-rates
Congratulations to our 3 big monthly winners!

Winner of 3rd prize (25,000 EMP):
Nemuui (CH)

Winner of 2nd prize (50,000 EMP):
Xoviar (CH)

Winner of 1st prize (100,000 EMP):
Tolerable (MT)

Excited for you all! :3
After reading the responses to our post yesterday containing the dismantling conversion rates for enchanting materials post-patch and the controversy surrounding the early leak of this information, we felt it necessary to clarify a few things:

  1. The information provided to select individuals was granted for the sole purpose of aiding content creation in the form of guides and was not intended to grant a competitive advantage.
  2. This information was not distributed with the intent of soliciting external feedback, which is why it wasn’t put in front of the TERA Player Council. The new gear progression system is complex and has far-reaching impacts on TERA’s economy. The conversion rates were provided by the game design team and were arrived at based on the volume of materials in our economy in order to align it with the intended design of the new gear progression system.
  3. Alone, these conversion rates do not paint a full picture of the changes rolling out with the patch next Tuesday. The token shop prices, the amounts of materials that tokens are exchanged for, the different materials needed for enchanting, and other details of the new system have not yet been publicly shared in an official capacity by En Masse Entertainment.

It is unfortunate that this information was exploited by some individuals for personal gain. We understand the implications of this and will be launching an investigation in order to identify those players that may have benefitted and take appropriate action. Any resulting action that we decide as a result of this investigation will not be shared with the public. This is in line with our policy of only discussing disciplinary actions solely with the account owners for privacy reasons.

Today, we met to discuss the many ways this went awry of our intentions. Our sharing of this information with community members was well-intentioned. The goal was to provide a recognized community outlet official information to kick-start a working relationship in an effort to provide the community more comprehensive and helpful guides--content for players, created by players, with official support from EME.

In doing so however, we were perhaps a bit overzealous in that we failed to put in place the necessary precautions that would prevent this information from being abused. In the future, any partner will be required to commit to a non-disclosure agreement before sensitive information is shared with them (as is our usual practice). In addition, sensitive information of this nature will no longer be distributed until immediately before release of the relevant content. These small adjustments in our approach to user-generated content could have prevented a lot of the issues that the community (rightfully) had with this specific release of information.

We will be posting the full details of the new gear progression system this coming Thursday to the Arsenal promotional page. This will be followed by a Twitch stream on Friday where the system is discussed at length and we take questions from the community.

Thanks,
The TERA Team at En Masse
Hi there, everyone. This post has gotten a bit out of hand. We'll be making an official statement on this later today, but in the meantime, I'll be closing this thread.
Hi there! We've got a statement on this very topic coming out later today. I wanted to give you all a heads up to look for that coming this afternoon before this topic proceeds further. In the meantime, I'll be locking it.

So EME doesnt wanna speak about this leak and exploit and players who got rich with it now?

Any results from any investigation into what took place wouldn't be shared publicly anyway. Again, remove the tinfoil hat. Conspiracy theories are incorrect.
Remove the tinfoil hats. As I stated in the original post, EME did not create these ratios; nor did any players. The conversion rates were created by the BHS design team BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF MATERIAL IN THE CURRENT ECONOMY. NA TERA players have A LOT MORE materials in their possession than the other territories, by incredible amounts.

Again, let me repeat that for anyone that doesn't understand:

EME did not create the conversion rates. The BHS design/dev team did and passed it along to us, and today we passed it along to you.
Danbeas wrote: »
Yeah, this just killed the game to me. I'll watch Friday's stream to see if they say how much everything costs. But I'm seriously thinking of uninstalling because most of the stuff saved has become borderline worthless.

Think about the conversion this way - it's going to be the same for every player, so your progress in the game related to everyone around you will stay the same related to the time/effort put in. If player A has saved up 10k T12 Feedstock, but player B has been doing dungeons every day, playing like crazy, and saved up 30k T12 Feedstock, player B will STILL have 3x as much enchanting material as player A once they're converted into emblems.

The gear stats will be slightly different (and in some cases better than the old gear), and the amount of material needed to attempt a single enchant will change, but the playing field is still the same from player to player.
Hey all. Please see Seandynamite's post about this.

The project to make a complete guide for the gear revamp is ongoing despite today's hiccup. Collaborations like this always come with risks, but we're still looking forward to the final result and we don't want to let things like this interfere too much when it comes to working with members of the community to do awesome things.

Now that the conversion info is up for anyone to see, help spread the word and link to Seandynamite's post to those who might be interested in seeing it. I'd also like to ask you guys to respect those in the community that contributed to this project. Please don't seek out or hound those who may/may not have leaked or had info leaked to them. Thanks.
Greetings!

At the end of last week, we shared some documentation and information regarding the upcoming gear progression changes with select community members with the intent that they could help us build more comprehensive and player-friendly guides that can be linked to in an official capacity by En Masse through the TERA site. This is a new kind of collaboration that we’re excited to work on and we think it will benefit all TERA players. Unfortunately, some of the information from these documents was leaked to a wider audience than originally intended. In the interest of transparency and making sure that there’s a level playing field out there for everyone, I am sharing the dismantling rates for NA TERA today.

I’ll explain a few things in short here, but know that there are more in-depth descriptions coming to you later this week.
  • Our dismantling numbers (as I pointed out in my Twitch Q&A) are very different from all the other territories. These rates were created by the design team based on the amount of existing materials in our economy. Prices in the Emblem shops are different as well.
  • Entropic Emblems – what are they?! These open one of the new shops that you can access to buy enchanting materials. Dismantling these older materials will give you Entropic Emblems.
  • Some items in the list have the word “Depleted” in front of them. These items can no longer be used for enchanting or crafting – they can only be dismantled. In their place are new items that can be used for enchanting or crafting.

On Thursday and Friday of this week we will be sharing more information, including a complete video walkthrough of how the new enchant and upgrade system works, and what it will mean to you before and after the patch goes live next Tuesday, October 10th.

Thanks so much and see you later this week!

I am really trying not to be rude but BHS too dam stupid, this system is the worst thing I have seen in any games. Absolutely wastes your time, you won you get a jackpot, so what? what about when I lose the game I get absolutely nothing, then what is the point of this crap and when I win I get nothing then what is the point here again?

I mean for how long our feedback gonna be ignored? PVP is dead and now killing BGs for this God awful system, Keep the jackpots, I won't waste my dam time with this crap.

That is what I got after 140 mins of playing Kumas and two Bonanza Box added to that, and now tell me if this is OK in your book and wasting your players time and slap them in the face is OK by BHS, then I think all players that are interested in PVP even a bit needs to reconsider playing Tera. I am seriously pissed at how unappreciated we are to BHS and EME, I mean all games making playing the game worth the players time, BHS just wastes your time and we have to go with it because they are so stupid at running their game? and in the end gotta get some overpriced cosmetic item as the reward for playing Tera.

I am done with BGs, and no I don't think I am the only one, look at your game it's a ghost town, everyone has a limit, NA community's limit is just coming and still we are being ignored and our feedback is nothing.

I can't go into too much detail here, but let me try to address a couple of things.

1. We understand that PvP is being harmed and that frustrates players. It isn't what we want either and we have tried to push back with Bluehole and get more positive development for PvP content. We have been arguing and advocating for improved BGs, leaderboards, and better rewards.
2. With the Arsenal update, all of the battleground rewards will get new components, items that will be useful to you no matter your gear or enchantment level.
3. There are more changes coming to PvP and battlegrounds. We can't put them on the roadmap yet, but they are coming.

Next week, we'll be releasing more information about the new gear progression system. I believe Spacecats is also doing a Q&A during his Twitch stream next Friday. No one wants players to have a frustrating experience and we are making changes. I hope you'll find v61 an improved experience.
Today we meet.

Not sure if anyone caught this, but why does the event banner for kumas/iron battleground have one half showing gridiron?
Seems like a small mistake there or the designer not knowing the game, or is the event meant to be for Kumas and gridiron and the text of the post wrong?

The text is totally correct. Our graphic artist made a booboo and is being teased mercilessly about it.

Have fun in Kumas Royale and Iron Battleground this weekend.
We continue to press for an update on this. Alas, there's been no fix to the bug yet.
We are aware of the use of gems in the new enchanting system. For now, we want to see how battlegrounds perform after Arsenal launches. If highlighting becomes necessary, we'll probably do that, but we're going to hew more closely to the materials structure set forth by Bluehole. We may consider other rewards to help boost PvP engagement.
Congratulations to Heleh (CH) and Dark.Keyden.Eliza (FF) for winning the daily drawing! This is the final weekend to enter Mystel's Magical Mystery Mega-Drawing! Good luck in the hunt for the grand prizes!
We’re throwing some extra spice into the battlegrounds this weekend, highlighting Kumas Royale and Iron Battleground!

Starting at 10 a.m. PDT, Friday, September 29 and running through 8 a.m., Tuesday, October 3, victory in either battleground will earn you:

Talisman of Lakan ×1
Lakan's Banner ×2
Badges of Loyalty ×2
Enchanting Bonanza Box ×1
Practical Armor Armoire ×1

These items will drop at more generous rates.

The regular battlegrounds on the calendar are still highlighted, using their regular rewards. This is a special highlight so revisit Kumas Royale and Iron Battleground, mark some achievements off your list, and get rewarded for it!
Thank you so much for the extra 3s days!! I'm sure the people who queue it appreciate it since it tends to die with no highlighted bgs c:

You are most welcome. Your player council advocated for them!
Through October 9, battleground jackpots will start at 10 a.m. PDT and end at 9:59 a.m. PDT the following morning, when the highlighted battleground switches to the next one.

Here’s the schedule for October:

October Battleground Calendar

Talisman of Lakan ×1
Lakan's Banner ×2
Badges of Loyalty ×2
Enchanting Bonanza Box ×1
Tier 12 feedstock ×50

The October 10 maintenance launches the Arsenal update, which features a new gear and enchanting system that necessitates a change in battleground rewards. This new system also affects our PvP landscape, so to better track how the new system works, we will not be highlighting battlegrounds for the rest of October.

This isn’t to say there won’t be highlighted battlegrounds in the future, but for October at least, battleground rewards will be distributed normally.

That might not seem like a big deal, but I'm happy to say that the developer roadmap is a significant change in the way we want to move forward communicating to players. As time rolls on, this roadmap will be updated with the latest stuff coming down the pipeline. When dates change on our end, you'll see them change on the roadmap. If we aren't sure exactly when an update will happen, but we know it's on the way, it'll land in the "Future Updates" portion until we can assign it to a month.

No longer will people constantly have to wonder - "when is X coming?!"

Ideally, at least. There will be questions. Let's get some of them out of the way during our next community Twitch stream. Join us from 3 to 4 p.m. PDT on September 22 at http://www.Twitch.tv/EnMasseEntertainment
Looks like there was an unintentional change to the spacebar animation during the new Patch.

We received a few reports via Tickets, and after testing it, we are able to confirm the previous animation is no longer on any of the versions of the Bunny Mounts.

A Bug Report has now been filed for further review by Bluehole.
I think the image was just replaced on the main page of our web site with our Mystel’s Blessings article.

HOLY CRAP!

We have an absolutely insane situation here: the same person, Expired.Twinkie (AV) won TWICE today! Today starting at 3 p.m. PDT, get ready to don your Murder Pants™. Those being, of course, the flashy (and possibly blood-soaked) Murder Pants™ you use while you want to solve a murder. Sometimes to solve a crime, you must dress like a smooth criminal. You have to get into the murdering spirit. You have to get into the murderer's mind. You have to get into your Murder Pants™. Have you seen the show Hannibal? It's just like that, only with Murder Pants™.

In addition to mysterious deaths, we're going to show off the recently released Blue Sky and Starglow costumes. We'll also PREVIEW the Starglow and Crystal Blue weapon skins releasing next week (and give some away to raffle winners ). See you there! https://www.twitch.tv/enmasseentertainment
We have spoken with Bluehole several times about the quality and types of cosmetics. While they often ask for input, they are not held to that and their art team is free to make items as they see fit. We have given suggestions several times this year and expect to see some of that come to fruition in the future.

The sad reality is that we (players and publisher) often speak about wanting more realistic or less overtly sexualized costumes, but I can stand in Velika all day long and not see anyone wearing the practical armor costumes.

I am happy to pass on player feedback to Bluehole. The TERA team speaks to them weekly and communicates daily. We are one region out of many, however, and Bluehole will develop the items they feel will sell the best across all territories. I do expect things will improve.
Weekend winners and weekly winner will be drawn on Monday!

Will the usual mats still be usable?

Still wrapping my head around the new system, but Loriri's guide is pretty spot on. Basically, a lot of mats are going to be obsolete. Some will convert into tokens which will open a shop to purchase new mats.

I'm planning an informational TERA stream on this once we're closer to the update. I'll have one of our localization team members on the air and we'll explain the new system in its entirety.
There are available now in the TERA store.
The default selection of Iron Battleground is a bug and we've told Bluehole about it. They will have to make that change. For now, all you can do is uncheck it before you queue. Very sorry about that headache.
We spoke to Bluehole about this last night. They said it is not intentional behavior and that it sounds like a bug. They are investigating it.
hmm ok i did some testing and it seems that whenever i move any UI element, and then relog it moves that UI element down and to the right a bit. i tried this with multiple items including the primary and secondary skill bars and the quest tracker. however if you do not touch the UI element after you relog then relog again, it will not move. so i guess the temporary solution is to place your UI elements above and to the left of where you actually want it. kinda annoying and i hope it gets fixed soon @CobaltDragon

Just got confirmation from Seandynamite that this specific issue had just been reported to Bluehole, so they are at least aware of it, and will begin working on a resolution.

In the short term, you can try what Montblanck suggested above.
Have it a tiny bit away from the very edge of your screen. For some reason the secondary tray being vertical does not save properly on certain machines if it's at the very edge.

Yeah, I should have added this part as well, essentially that if any elements from the User Interface (Skill Hotbar / Health Bar / etc...) are too close to the very edge of the screen (near the top, right, bottom, or left side) , the system tends to ignore that placement and revert back to a default location or previously saved location.
Based on what you have stated about the UI position not saving between relog / switching characters, it sounds like you may also need to manually clear the saved User Interface information that the server is holding onto for your Account.

You can do this by going into your UI Settings menu and clicking these 3 buttons all at once :
- Reset UI Positions
- Reset UI Scale
- and Reset all ( found at the bottom of the window )

It says Thursday now. Sorry for the confusion.
FWC is the BG of the day and it does have its rewards active.

There's an undocumented change where Iron Battleground is selected by default. Uncheck that and you'll have more success getting into other BGs.
Weird. Got a screenshot?
I mean, it takes like 2 seconds to change a line of text, so it's not really comparable to fixing exploits. Also probably not the same person handling both (if I recall right, a translator at Gameforge does the localization for both EU and NA regions, but I might be wrong.)

Our team does the initial localization for English speaking regions. And you're right that work like this is done by different people from those that tackle exploits (Bluehole devs). It's a pretty quick process to change the name of something.
Consistency changes like this are made less frequently than when TERA was first launched, but they still happen. Most of the time players don't pick up on them and things just look normal. Whether "Spinning" and "Sweeping" better than some alternative is totally up for debate, but the real intention was to remove the word stagger from skills that don't actually stagger.
This is as much a surprise to us as you guys. We're looking into the reports we're getting from players and will speak with Bluehole to try and determine why these changes happened.

Hopefully this is just a matter of re-purchasing some skills and having things go back to normal again. Since this hasn't happened in the past, though, we'll be on the lookout for any potential side-effects.

The servers are up and open to players. The TERA store is currently down, but the platform team is on it.
The platform team is trying to get a few more things working before we let players into the game. I'm pushing for an ETA, but they can't give me one just yet. I will try to keep this updated. Sorry about that.

You can log into the launcher to patch, but other services are not yet up. We will announce when the maintenance has completed. Hang in there.

100% correct.

@Halrath @Spacecats

Can you either put it back or have a mix day?

You could do...
3x fraywind
2x Corsairs
2x grid and 3s

It would please a lot more people this way.

We're always taking feedback on PvP. This schedule is based on suggestions from the Player Council. We welcome opinions and can definitely mix things up in October.

i'll watch , and since its a Q&A i hope u guys dont avoid ppl that are asking for console questions =D cus lets be honest , EME and BHS already avoided enough ^^

Today isn't a TERA Q&A. The product managers are busy getting ready for the next update. I hope to get them on to answer in-depth questions once it's live.

A vile crime is about to be committed: a murder most foul. But who is the killer... and who is the victim for that matter?!

Today (9/8) on the weekly TERA stream from 3 to 4 p.m. PDT, our viewers will help design a list of suspicious suspects. Their names, their hobbies, their occupation. Even their favorite food. One twist - each of these suspects will play an important role in a coming murder mystery, and each suspect has a criminal past. Klyde the Groundskeeper may have a bad habit of stealing, but is his heart dark enough to commit cold blooded murder?

See you on the En Masse Twitch channel, and stick around after today's show for our first Closers stream! It all happens right here: https://www.twitch.tv/enmasseentertainment
As far as I am aware, all of the remaining codes should be sent out later this afternoon / evening.

It looks like that the gear revamp patch comes out next month in EU TERA:

https://en.tera.gameforge.com/news/detail/patch-59-03-demoros-roulette
Next up we’re working on Patch 61, which includes the Korean patches from 25th May to 27th July 2017. We are therefore skipping Patch 60 and will be releasing the new enchantment system in October, along with some challenging and interesting dungeons!

Has there been any news as to whether this is going to happen at the same time in NA TERA as I would assume it should be within a week or so of the EU one?

It's absolutely going to happen, probably in the timeframe you describe. We're working on it already and really excited about the upcoming changes. As for more details, you'll have to stay tuned, but there's a planned rollout of details and information.
They'll come in and out of our lives. They're removed from boxes right now, but will definitely come back again and the store will have new stuff.
The general wait time on all types of TERA Tickets is now under 24 hours, so hopefully it won't take weeks. ;)
I'd suggest opening a Support ticket, if you have not already done so, and include the text file created while running our EME Diagnostic : ( http://support.enmasse.com/tera/resolve-technical-issues-with-the-diagnostic-tool )

I seriously hate events like this, because they just aren't for people like me. I hate raids, and I hate being told what I will and will not do, and when I will do it. With that being said, some people like the scheduled grind and following orders. To them, this was a great event. I think this event was fine for many, and doing these types of events once in awhile is great. However, please keep the other events as well.

I somewhat got sucked into the surprise event yesterday, but still missed out on a lot due to the lag. I really just should have stayed away. By time I got to the next channel, all were already dead. It was truly frustrating. Oh well, live and learn. Only benefit for me was the fact that plasma skins are super cheap now, and I don't have a bunch of junk in my inventory. Hurray!

Can we move onto Rootstock now?

Your Rootstock is my command. Coming up in just a few days.
One more thing, if build versions eventually align and the overall situation is favorable to do so, we will definitely re-evaluate the potential for cross-play. We recognize the upside of it and agree that as an MMO, TERA would generally benefit from more players sharing the same environment.

I don't think anyone can deny that playing on PC then picking up where you left off on a console in your bedroom or at a friend's house is just plain cool and convenient.
I wanted to clear up some inaccuracies in the OP/source as well as clarify a few things:

Content Parity:

The console version will not be up to date with PC and will in fact be several versions back. The exact build we're launching with for console is not yet locked down. The developers will need to pick a version and stick to it in order to refine and polish it ahead of release, as well as iron out any technical issues. This makes it impossible for the console version to be in sync with PC, at least at launch. Our ongoing goal of course is to eventually bring them as close together as possible in terms of content and build version.

Cross-Platform Play:

It is, in part, due to the lack of content of parity detailed above that cross-platform play will not be possible at launch.

Also, as many have alluded to, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One do not play together so even if we were able to offer cross-play we'd need to leave one platform alone on an island. This is not ideal either.

PC Version:

Development on the PC version will continue, as will En Masse's service of the game on PC in North America. There are plenty of updates still coming this year, as well as some exciting stuff in the works for 2018 as well.
You are most welcome!
This issue should now be resolved.
