You’re proud of your characters. You want them to stand out in a crowd, and you want that top-notch weapon to stand out, too. With just a little time (or a little gold), you can change your equipment’s appearance at a remodeler or change the color of your armor with dyes.

All major cities have appearance remodelers and dye merchants, and you can make your own dyes from materials you gather. Anybody can use dyes and remodelers, and if you want a quick start on a stylish new appearance, read our full guide to remodeling and dyeing.

TERA works hard to keep information in the middle of the screen where the action is. Even so, it takes a bit of experience to decipher what those little images mean. The angry red face isn’t difficult to decipher, but what’s with the radio antenna? And why does the lancer have an icon with an ellipsis? What’s that all about?

To save you some squinting and guessing, we put together this guide to combat indicators. Check it out, learn what each icon means, and you’ll understand what the game’s telling you in no time.
Congratulations, TERA community! You not only reached the first three goals in our Facebook event that started last month, but you then stepped up to the challenge of a milestone five times that of the previous goal! In less than five days, the "True Action Combat" trailer was shared more than 25,000 times on Facebook!

As a result of your efforts, four in-game cosmetic items were rewarded and are available to be claimed. If you haven't yet, be sure to enter the following game codes on your En Masse account to claim these prizes.

NOTE: These game codes will no longer be redeemable after June 8 at 11:59 PM Pacific! The cosmetic items are all permanent and can be redeemed for one character per account.

So I just spoke with a GM. He was very polite and willing to help, but unfortunately he came to the realization that there is nothing that can be done for people with two TERA accounts.

We'll look into this, see what can be done to address it.
To clarify, the items can only be redeemed once per En Masse account. If you redeem the item on the wrong TERA account, we'd be glad to move it over for you.

Greetings, fellow soldiers! Tamur, Kaiator's force commander, here. We're about to elect new vanarchs to oversee each province in the federation, and I'm not seeing enough excitement. We need heroes who'll inspire us. Strong, wise leadership is the key to victory over our enemies!

The recruiting posters for the war on Kaiator's walls inspire me, so let's have a contest. Make posters for your favorite vanarch candidates and write something that convinces me they're worthy to lead. The Valkyon Federation will choose the most powerful posters and put them on our front page for all to see.

Our soldiers on the front lines can't do this alone. We need the provinces behind the lines supporting us. If you believe in your candidates, stand up for them! Let's make this election mean something.

Instructions

    • Only one entry per player.
    • Your poster or submission mail must include the candidate's name, guild name, preferred province, and server name.
    • Your submission must include a paragraph (200 words or less) explaining why the candidate should be elected vanarch.
    • The poster must meet the Rules of Conduct and Terms of Service.
    • To enter, email us with your poster (2 MB or less, please!) and submission information.
    • Click here for the official TERA contest rules.

Prizes

    • The Vanarch Campaign Poster Contest will be judged by the Creative Services Team and other En Masse Entertainment staff.
    • Three winning posters will appear on the TERA website, along with the artist's paragraph advocating for the candidate.

Duration

    • The Vanarch Campaign Poster Contest will end at 11:59 PM Pacific on Thursday, May 24.

Patch 17.29.01.06 is now available! You can update your game by restarting the launcher. This update addresses a number of typographical errors related to quest text and NPC names. Note that rogue popori pranksters have mislabeled some destinations on teleportals. The teleportals will deliver you to the right location despite their efforts.

Glyphs modify your skills to optimize them for the role you intend to fill. In a nutshell, glyphs are like crystals for your skills. Just like crystals help emphasize certain strengths or boost certain abilities in your equipment, glyphs hone certain aspects of your skills so you can get the most out of them. A keen understanding of how you want to play will help you glyph for success in TERA.

Commander Seir will put you on the path for your first glyph by giving you the quest "Uncovering Glyphs" at level 20. Completing that quest earns you a class-appropriate glyph to start you on your journey. After that, you'll buy the rest from the appropriate glyphmaster for your class in Velika, Allemantheia, or Kaiator. You'll want to complete this quest before you purchase any other glyphs to avoid buying something you could have earned.

Learn more about how to get and use glyphs in our Game Guide!

Playing TERA with a party is great fun, and while the cross-server instance matching system is an excellent tool for quick dungeon runs, our game has so much more to offer!

Maybe you want to find a party to tackle a particularly tough world boss. Maybe you have a guild of slayers and warriors, and just want a mystic for some adventuring fun with your friends. Maybe you're tired of waiting in a queue for the "perfect" party, and feel like tackling a dungeon with only three or four players. There are a great number of party combinations in TERA, and there is a built-in way to get exactly the one you want.

Read the full article on TERA-Online.com.

Only one week after launch, TERA is already receiving acclaim from reviewers. Our action combat system is truly revolutionary and it's showing. Here is just a sampling of what people are saying.

Jonathan Deesing from G4TV.com says, "…in TERA, I found an MMO that will hold my attention long after I reach the level cap. The unique combat system, variety of classes and frequent huge bosses all make for a game with not only lasting appeal, but appeal to gamers that may not be traditional MMO fans." Adam Biessener from Gameinformer.com agrees, "I have no problem crowning TERA's combat system as the best I've ever come across in an MMO."

Tycho over at Penny Arcade makes the observation, "I'll tell you what TERA does do: it makes you ask hard questions of every other Massively Multiplayer experience."

Andrew Hayward from GamesRadar.com chimes in about TERA's visuals: " What immediately struck us about this fantasy-themed RPG was its fabulous Unreal Engine 3-provided visuals, which stand in stark contrast to the usual lo-fi characters and environments used by many online games to scale well across systems, though it's not the only standout feature from our early time with the game."

Our dungeons and bosses are definitely unique, as William Murphy points out over at MMORPG.com: " Dungeons – Easily my favorite part of the game so far, thanks to the exceptional Dungeon Finder (yes, I'm a Lancer so it works quickly for me). I've only dabbled in the Bastion of Lok so far, but if the bosses and fights in this first dungeon are anything to go by I think the good ol' dungeon crawl will be one of TERA's highlights."

If your interest has been piqued, check out the in-depth article on how we created TERA's unique action combat system and evolved MMORPG combat in this month's issue of Game Developer Magazine. GDC Mag sums it up best: "If your MMORPG's players are spending more time staring at cooldown meters than the monsters they're fighting, you're doing it wrong. Bluehole Studio's Seungmo Koo explains how they pulled off TERA's truly real-time 'free-targeting' combat system without breaking their servers."

This is just a small glimpse at what people have been saying. Keep your eyes peeled for more news and reviews. We'll be sure to share more articles with you as reviewers continue to play and praise TERA!

This week's maintenance will occur on Wednesday morning instead. If the start time ends up being different than 3:00 AM Pacific, we'll announce it ahead of time.
We're pleased to announce that the "Subscription Not Found or Expired" error has been resolved for the majority of players affected by it. If you were seeing it, you should now find that the 30 days of game time included with buying TERA is reflected appropriately on your En Masse account page.

If you're still seeing this error, here are ways to resolve it:

    • If you're playing on a trial account (from a Closed Beta Test code, Open Beta Test code, or Head Start code), you will need to purchase TERA and set up a subscription.

    • If you've purchased TERA from a retailer other than the En Masse store, you must enter your game code and also set up a subscription on the En Masse store.

    • If you've purchased TERA from a retailer other than the En Masse store and have not yet received your game code, please contact the retailer.

    • If you've purchased TERA, applied your game code, and set up your subscription, and are still seeing this error, please contact our Support Team.

Why does En Masse even bother having a server status page, when it doesn't even get updated when the servers are actually down? I can understand if they crash, but if you've got scheduled maintenance, shouldn't they be tracking in real-time?

The Server Status page does show when a server is down.

A guild is in essence a large group of people who have banded together to play, but are also working towards a larger goal. Being part of a guild is not only an easy way to keep track of your friends and have a pool of people you know to play with, but guilds also play an integral part in TERA's political system.

Forming a guild is fairly simple. The minimum requirements are two people in a group, a party leader who is at least level eight and has 30 silver in inventory. The party leader should speak to the Guild Manager NPC in Velika, located in the southeast corner of the Plaza of the Huntress. The party leader will choose the guild's name, and become its first guildmaster.

Learn more about how to create and manage a guild in TERA in our Game Guide!
Just in time for TERA's first day, here is our launch trailer! (Thought our countdown to May 1 video was our launch trailer? Nope!) Looking for the perfect video to show your friends and guildmates what awaits them in TERA? Look no further!

You can find this and other TERA videos on the En Masse Entertainment YouTube channel!

Queues. Bleh. No one wants to log into their favorite MMO only to be greeted by that ominous pop-up message telling you the length of the line you have to wait in before you even get to play. Because PvP is so popular in TERA, all three of our PvP servers experienced queues of varying times at launch. The Valley of Titans server became extremely popular with the PvP crowd—so much so that everyone wanted to be on it. This word of mouth generated a ton of interest in playing on that server, which resulted in long queue times.

Normally, the first thought when you have too many people on a server is to simply open additional servers. The problem is that players and guilds are already entrenched, having invested time and resources on server A, so opening server B doesn't help existing users. To address both server crowding and player aversion to starting over, we added a new PvP server, Feral Valley, on April 29, and opened character transfers on April 30.

We already have a large and growing population of players (both old and new) on Feral Valley, and populations are leveling out across the remaining PvP servers. There are still queues on the more popular servers, but overall, queue sizes are now half of what they were previously. More importantly, you now have a choice. You can stay where you are and ride out the queue-storm, or switch to Feral Valley now, knowing that you can switch back to Valley of Titans once the queues die down so you can play TERA with your friends.

We are still monitoring and optimizing server populations, which is why you'll notice we may limit new character creation or character transfers from time to time. Fear not! These are always temporary measures that we use to even out populations and ensure the health of all of our servers.
Edited by: Scapes over 2 years ago
We are adding priority server queues for players who are disconnected from the game or experience a game client crash to get them back into TERA faster. To facilitate this, all PvP servers will be taken down for maintenance on Thursday, May 3, lasting from 3:00 AM to 3:30 AM PDT, followed by all PvE servers from 3:30 AM to 4:00 AM PDT.

The following servers will be unavailable on Thursday, May 3, from 3:00 AM to 3:30 AM PDT:
  • Basilisk Crag
  • Feral Valley
  • Jagged Coast
  • Valley of Titans

The following servers will be unavailable on Thursday, May 3, from 3:30 AM to 4:00 AM PDT:
  • Arachnaea
  • Blightwood
  • Celestial Hills
  • Dragonfall
  • Freeholds
  • Frost Reach
  • Serpentis Isle

May 1 has arrived and TERA has officially launched! While we're excited about this, we are aware that some players are encountering issues that are preventing them from starting their adventure in TERA. These issues include a "500 Server Error", an "expired" subscription error, and other issues regarding accounts. These are our top priorities and we have teams investigating the cause of each.

Please know that we are actively working to resolve them and will provide updates here on the TERA website as they happen. For quicker updates, feel free to visit us on our Twitter and Facebook pages.

So basically, what people are wondering/worried about is: Does the subscription Renewal date need to happen before May 31st, 2012 or do you simply need to have bought the game & setup a Subscription Plan which sets your account status to Subscribed before May 31st, 2012

The latter. You only need to purchase the game and select a subscription plan before June 1.
Tonbbery on 05/01/2012, 07:27 AM - view
Lol not only do we get the golden [filtered] skins and not the good EU versions, but they will possibly be a temporary skin change to boot (unless other wise stated) great insensitive. Almost made me reach in to my pocket to pull out my Credit Card

The Golden Dragon weapon skins will be permanent items. They will not expire.
Hey TERA players,

We've pinpointed the cause of the inaccurate remaining subscription time, an issue that's affecting about 2000 accounts. We've configured these accounts so that those players will be able to continue adventuring in TERA while we work to resolve the issue on the backend, where it won't affect you or your friends and guildmates.

Thanks for your patience!

While many players are new to TERA, some have been following the game for years. To celebrate TERA's strong community and North American launch, En Masse Entertainment would like to provide a launch gift to everyone who purchases the game and subscribes before May 31: a full set of Golden Dragon weapon skins, cosmetic items you can attach to any weapon type to change its appearance.

Already purchased your TERA subscription? Thank you! You will receive the Golden Dragon weapon skins when your initial 30 days of game time ends and your subscription billing begins. You'll find the full set waiting for you in the Item Claim pane in-game. These weapon skins are bound to your account, so you can claim them using any or all of your characters. They cannot be sold, traded, or stored in the bank.

In preparation for TERA's launch tomorrow, we scheduled maintenance from midnight Sunday until 7:00 AM Pacific on Monday morning. This maintenance was needed so we could move from running the service as a beta to the official release for new retail users and all the avid TERA fans who pre-ordered. Unfortunately, we ran into unforeseen issues with rolling out subscription management and were forced to extend the maintenance window much, much longer than any of us wanted.

The number one priority for En Masse Entertainment is to provide great service and a great gaming experience for everyone who purchases TERA. The most important objective is to get TERA up and running for everyone who purchased the game and to return you to enjoying the TERA gaming experience. We worked on this and you should be able to play the game now. This will include new support for server transfers to address the long queues for some of the more popular PvP servers.

While we continue to work on the remaining maintenance issues, we decided that what's most important is getting the TERA community back into TERA. Please excuse the construction delay and enjoy playing TERA.

Want an early taste of TERA's beautiful world and visceral combat? Check out this trailer of the game's all-new playable prologue. As TERA begins, the first explorers to the mysterious Island of Dawn are shipwrecked and attacked by demons the moment they land. After reaching the beach, you'll have to struggle to regroup before the demons descend upon the survivors.

Check out more TERA trailers on the En Masse Entertainment YouTube channel!

Want to know if your server is up, if there's a wait to enter, or if that other server you're considering is less populated? Check out our Server Status page! This page displays the queue and population of each server in real-time. A server labeled "Recommended" means there's low population meaning you'll rarely encounter a queue while "Full" means character creation has been suspended on that server.

Why would a server be listed as "Full"? We want to make sure everyone can enjoy TERA better by evenly distributing the players specifically to avoid long queues for servers. In order to do this, we're limiting character creation on the most-populated servers to balance them out. Throughout the Open Beta Test, we'll monitor server queues and populations very closely, incrementally increasing the population cap on "Full" servers to get more players onto them. The goal here is to provide a good experience for all TERA players, not to prevent you from playing with your friends or guild.

Visit the Server Status page during the Open Beta Test for the latest information on availability.

Excited to start your journey into TERA during our Open Beta Test this weekend? Wish you could show off your cool pre-order loot at the same time? Good news! We've prepared a manual patch which may resolve this issue.

Download Link: http://patch.tera.enmasse-game.com/temp/EN_13to14.zip

1. Unzip into your TERA main directory. Example: C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\Games\TERA\

2. Run your launcher.

3. The launcher will check the client and patch if necessary.

4. The play button should now appear to be active.

5. Press play!

6. Tell us if it worked for you.

Thanks for hanging in there, folks.
Check the OP for a manual patch to test for us.

Thanks!
Next step towards a solution:

We need diagnostic information from folks experiencing the error to help us narrow down which network(s) are causing the problems. If you're familiar with how to run a traceroute, please run "tracert diag.enmasse.com" and email the results to: 7tWHd9MmaHM4@enmasse.com

We’ll try to divine as much information from your results as possible.
Edited by: Scapes over 2 years ago
Next next step:

Find your ReleaseRevision.txt file in the following directory:

...\TERA\Client\Binaries\

In this text file, what is the value of "ReleaseName"? It should be the string "EME" followed by some numbers.
Thanks, all. We're close to a solution here. Next update coming in a few minutes.
The ffff:ffff issue should now be resolved. Please restart your launcher and log in. The fix may take a few minutes to register, please try again if the error appears. We're also working on an alternative solution if the error persists.

Thanks for hanging in there, folks. We appreciate it.

Hello, TERA players—Vekas the Wicked Tree here. You may remember me from the Island of Dawn. You know...the place where YOU KILLED ME. (You murderer!) Supposedly I didn't live up to the whole "wicked tree" thing, so En Masse is making me deliver these patch notes. I know it's punishment, but it's also my REVENGE! You're about to read about new instances WHERE YOU WILL DIE. About new groups you can ally with THAT WILL PROBABLY BETRAY YOU IN THE END. About nexuses—interdimensional places THAT WILL BE YOUR DOOM. There's a new playable prologue THAT WILL PROBABLY MAKE YOU PEE YOUR PANTS. You'll even read about new skills, new gear, and NEW WAYS I SHALL HAVE THE LAST LAUGH, MORTAL. Hundreds of changes—NONE OF WHICH WILL SAVE YOU IN THE END.

There, all done. Can I have some pigling now?

We have published our next installment of TERA's flythrough video series featuring the Tor Exsul region.

Missed our other flythrough videos? Check them out on the En Masse Entertainment YouTube channel!

We have published the dungeon guide for TERA's third instanced dungeon, the Cultists' Refuge! The Scions of Lok have concentrated their forces in a remote desert temple, where they plan to resurrect fallen allies and unleash a terrible power on the Valkyon Federation.

This dungeon is meant for three to five characters, levels 35-40, including at least one tank, one damage dealer, and one healer. You'll face three tough bosses in this dungeon, and an optional fourth.

Read the full walkthrough or check out other dungeon guides in our Game Guide!

Tired of games that start you in an out-of-the-way village where the chieftain wants you to collect coconuts in the jungle? TERA's new playable prologue starts you right in the middle of the action: a beachhead under assault by demonic forces. It's not just a cutscene—you'll be fighting big-[filtered] monsters within minutes, learning the controls as you go.

The thrills don't stop when you leave the prologue behind. We've adjusted the storyline quests throughout the first 20 levels to challenge you as they reveal more of TERA's deep lore. The boss monsters in particular got upgrades they can't wait to test out...on you! Read more about this new launch feature on TERA-Online.com.

Above all else, TERA is a game, and your enjoyment of it will depend a lot on memories of special moments and accomplishments you gain on your way to max level. But once you've played through 60 levels of pulse-pounding action combat, completed thousands of quests, fought your way through millions of monsters, what then?

Plenty. TERA's endgame is full of things to do, and some would say it's a reward in and of itself. Here are just a few of the things you can do at level 60, or rather, after it.

Learn more about TERA's endgame in our Game Guide!

In remote corners of Northern Shara, something wants to emerge into the world of TERA. Monsters invade through a hole in reality called a nexus, then terrorize the surrounding area. You can join the battle at a moment's notice. Larger and scarier monsters pour out of the nexus as time goes on, but if you fight hard enough, you can close the nexus, keep part of the world safe—and earn a share of high-level loot.

A nexus is the perfect place to go when you want a great action experience but need to be flexible about grouping and time. When you enter a nexus, it all happens automatically: you're put in a group, you're given the relevant quests, and you'll receive your fair share of the rewards. Participate as long as you like. The nexus is a dangerous place, and it's not going to run out of bad guys anytime soon. Read more about this new launch feature on TERA-Online.com.

Are you participating in our Early Character Creation event this weekend? You may have noticed a few frames of the TERA launch cinematic as you furiously clicked through it to claim your first character's name! With your preferred name secured, you can now safely watch the video, titled "Beginnings", right here in this news post or on our YouTube channel.

The cinematic shows how the Valkyon Federation has come together to face a soulless army that threatens to engulf the world from the perspective of a baraka warrior-sage. Observant viewers will see each of TERA's seven playable races take part in the action, and will enjoy a sneak preview of the monsters they'll face and the places they'll visit. Combat—essential to an action MMO like TERA—takes center stage, and eagle-eyed fans will recognize some of the spells and attacks they'll use when TERA launches on May 1.

New Launch Features link is broken scapes

And fixed.

Some call it good business practices. Others call it "economic PvP". But everyone agrees that a bustling economy is at the heart of a great MMO experience. We improved the trade broker system with robust search features so you can find that powerful weapon or rare ingredient with a few clicks of the mouse. We also altered the currency so your high-level characters aren't dealing with billions of gold coins.

One of the biggest "industries" that drives TERA's in-game economy is enchanting, which we've made more player-friendly. The unlucky enchanters of the past could sometimes weaken their weapons and armor, but we’ve removed that penalty. And when you get a bonus you like, you can lock it into place with a new "resealing" technique. Read more about this new launch feature on TERA-Online.com.

As you explore the world of TERA, you'll develop a reputation that stretches across four continents. Some of the most powerful organizations in the world will send you into the action on their behalf—with the promise of stellar rewards if you succeed.

Over time, you'll improve your reputation with such groups as Invalesco (researchers into argon secrets), Hyderad Legacy (protectors of the natural world near Balder's Refuge), Shariar (commandos taking the fight to the argons), Hands of Velika (a secret coalition of soldiers and merchants), Valsekyr Hunt (a society of big-game hunters) and Agnitor (sages determined to master dimension-warping nexuses).

And we promise: no killing a thousand furbolgs just to go through a tunnel. Read more about this new launch feature on TERA-Online.com.

Over the past weeks, since the start of closed beta testing, we've continued to improve TERA support, so we wanted to take this time to share some updates from our Customer Support team. In our last post about support we discussed the addition of the TERA Answers site, a place where players like you can ask and answer questions, and where top-rated answers bubble up to the top so they're easy to find.

As we approach the official launch of TERA on May 1, we've thrown open the floodgates and now provide support twenty-four hours a day, every day of the week—even holidays and leap days—so there's always someone available to answer your questions.

In addition to increasing our support hours, we've also added live chat support so you can communicate with one of our Customer Support team members directly. So, whether you prefer to send us an e-mail through our web-based support system, ask other players, search knowledge base articles, or communicate directly through live chat, we've got you covered. For those who prefer phone support, that's coming soon as well.

Our support team members in sunny Austin, Texas, and not-so-sunny Seattle, Washington, are always available, and look forward to helping you with any questions you might have.

Dedicated TERA fans, we are in the home stretch! The start of our Open Beta Test on April 19 marks the first time players will be able to create and play characters that will persist through to launch and beyond. Pre-order players will be able to reserve their preferred character name and enjoy early access to the Open Beta Test servers a day before the rest of the world experiences TERA. This event will use a new build of TERA requiring a 4.3 GB patch. Check out our New Launch Features page for what's coming to TERA in this build! Looking for more details on events like Early Character Creation or Head Start? Visit our Launch Schedule page to see TERA's path to May 1!

So you just got done having a kick-[filtered] time playing TERA during its last closed beta weekend. Your standards of MMO gameplay have been shattered; the bar has been raised. As the pioneer of games your friends and your guild will play, you're eager to share the experience and have them try next weekend's open beta. They've heard you talk about TERA's skill-demanding, true action combat but they want to see it in action. What do you say?

"Challenge accepted."

Our latest trailer visually defines TERA's true action combat for you. In exactly two minutes, your guild members will see how TERA redefines the MMO genre. Check it out.

Whether you're earning a dead god's final blessing or desperately defending the human capital, you'll put your action-combat skills to the test in TERA's dungeons. Plus...phat lewt!

A good dungeon run is at the heart of the MMO experience. An action-packed game like TERA should provide exciting battles against clever enemies, but it must do more. Nobody wants to spam the chat channel for hours trying to put a party together, and everyone wants rewards that match the difficulty of the dungeon.

Our new instance dungeon matcher helps you find the right healer, tank, or damage-dealer to round out your party. As for rewards, you'll now see increased drops in all dungeons--up to double and triple the rates you've seen in past betas. Do your part, and you might be the proud owner of a Raiment of Nezrakul, Cauterus Axe, or Skysplitter's Bow.

Best of all, we added new dungeons and redesigned others so there's always some high-octane dungeon action available. Read more about this new launch feature on TERA-Online.com.

TERA is nearly here and we want you to join us. If you've pre-ordered your copy already, we have several opportunities for you to get into the game ahead of the rush: an early chance to reserve your favorite character name, as well as exclusive early starts on the Open Beta Test and the game's launch!

If you haven't pre-ordered, don't worry. You're still welcome to join our Open Beta Test and be part of the action!

I miss doing them and have been wanting to pick 'em up again. Hoping to reserve some bandwidth for it during the launch corridor.
Back in March, we asked you to capture a moment of true action combat that showed your MMO-FOness, stamp your screenshot with MMO-FO ink, and then send it to us for our Calling All MMO-FOs contest. Throughout Closed Beta Test 4, we kept all the contest entrants locked in a warehouse where they could fight for supremacy. Well, the final throat punches have been thrown. The final dirty kicks have landed. Only the five biggest, baddest MMO-FOs survived and earned an MMO-FO shirt with which to mop the blood from their sweaty brows.

By the gods, no! Not another beta weekend! Anything but that!

Sure, I get it. You want to play TERA. For you, a closed beta weekend is chance to explore more of the game, maybe try a new character, perhaps see the inside of Sinestral Manor.

But for me, beta weekend means "dying horribly, thousands of times an hour." So yeah, your weekend is gonna turn out better than mine.

I'm gonna get stabbed, chopped, impaled, lit on fire, and walloped with the power of the gods. It seems like all the races of the world have come together in harmony...to kill me.

(The poporis are the worst. Their laughter--it haunts my nightmares.)

And it's so unfair! That cruel human, Nivek, has it out for me.

My crime? I like bacon! Who doesn't? Just because I'm a tree doesn't mean I can't like meat! That's tree-ism, and it's just plain wrong!

Maybe En Masse did something nice for me in the patch notes. Wait...what's this?

"...will spawn three in the area..."

"...shortened the respawn timers..."

NOOOOO! Those bipedal [filtered]s! I'm gonna get killed way, way, WAY more than ever before!

That's it. As soon as these betas are done, I'm outta here. I'm gonna find some MMO where trees are just trees and there's a lot less stabbing, chopping, impaling, igniting, and walloping.

So when will the 'Manage Subscription' option become avaliable in account management?

In the interim, our Support Team can assist you with changing your subscription plan.
For more than two years, the TERA community has speculated on which voice actors and actresses would bring their talents to the game. We saw some awesome suggestions and more than a few outrageous ones too. If the title didn't already give it away, you'll be pleased to learn that Michael Hogan and Claudia Black are both in our roster of voiceover talent!

Michael Hogan is perhaps best known for his role as cantankerous Colonel Saul Tigh in the re-imagined series Battlestar Galactica. While he might have been a "frakkin' cylon" then, he will lend his voice to the Valkyon Federation's human Commander Samael in TERA, a pivotal character in the game's storyline–just ask your fellow community members playing in our closed beta tests. Michael also narrates some of TERA's cutscenes including one that's part of our new prologue zone outlined in Producer Chris Hager's Closed Beta Test 4 recap.

Check out Michael in action as he records the voice track for Samael in the video below.

Claudia Black has portrayed both the radiant Aeryn Sun in Farscape and mischievous Vala Mal Doran in Stargate SG-1, roles that earned her a Saturn Award for Best Actress and two Constellation Awards for Best Female Performance, respectively. She is also known for her voice acting roles in Uncharted and Dragon Age. Claudia will be adding a new fantasy race to her repertoire by voicing the high elf Fraya, Commander of Allemantheia, who comes to the aid of the Valkyon Federation in a moment of dire need.

We'll reveal more of TERA's voice actors and actresses later this month!

TERA's fifth and final closed beta test has arrived! Starting this Friday, players will be able to venture into Eldritch Academy, Cultist's Refuge, and all earlier dungeons for the last time before we start our open beta. This event will use the same build as the previous closed beta test meaning no huge patches to download for returning players! Be sure to read Producer Chris Hager's recap of Closed Beta Test 4 for insights into what features we've got planned for TERA after Closed Beta Test 5.

Here are some at-a-glance facts about this weekend's event:

  • Duration: Friday, April 6 at 12:00 PM PDT to Sunday, April 8 at 11:59 PM PDT
  • Servers: Arachnaea
  • (PvE), Serpentis Isle (PvE), Dragonfall (PvE), Valley of Titans (PvP), and Jagged Coast (PvP)
  • Maximum Level: 38
  • Character Slots per Server: 3

In this last event, the Valkyon Federation, bolstered by a surge of new soldiers, strikes back at its foes, reestablishing control of troubled realms, and upsetting the meticulous plans of its enemies. In an effort to destabilize the federation and disrupt its momentum, Thulsa has decided to launch attacks at the relatively unprotected capital—Velika. The evil god is gathering a small army of monsters to fling them at the City of Wheels. The Mysterium's arcanists detected Thulsa's plans and alerted Fraya, who sent word to Velika. With little forewarning, will the federation be able to defend the city and thwart Thulsa's machinations? Be ready for a call to action in the evening hours of Friday and Saturday!

We're also holding our final Be Creative, Be Smart, Be Lucky! and Calling All MMO-FOs! contests for a chance to win awesome prizes including Logitech loot, MMO-FO shirts, and a free month of TERA from En Masse Entertainment. There is no nondisclosure agreement (NDA) during the beta tests, so feel free to screenshot, film, or write about your experiences, and share them with your friends and guild mates!

As a grassroots TERA fan, don't miss out on your subscription discount by pre-ordering TERA from the En Masse store before the game launches on May 1, 2012!

It's a bit odd that the site lists the physical CE for release on 4/24/12, and the regular edition 5/1/12.

Yeaaah, that's an error. TERA is indeed releasing on May 1, 2012.

Come the time - only hoping the RP server be online for OpenBeta
so we can make our Characters and Guilds for the launch and develop our community
or a transfer of one Character if it is not uptill after the Launch?

Yep, the Celestial Hills RP-PvE server will be available for TERA's open beta test.
Our Support Team can help you out with this, please submit a ticket here:

Players who have pre-ordered from EB Games are reporting that they've received beta codes from their stores. We have sent them the all-access beta codes to distribute.
This build has been applied to the forums. Final patch notes incoming.
Regulator on 2012-02-22 02:13:00 UTC - view
we're getting there

Definitely.

We'll have full patch notes for forums v1.2 up soon.
If you digitally pre-ordered TERA from the En Masse store, your account is already marked for access to the game. No codes need to be entered, not even for benefits such as the in-game items (to be bestowed upon launch of the game).

if you purchased the physical Collector's Edition, you will need to apply the code included in the box itself.
SeraElf on 2012-02-22 02:40:48 UTC - view
And the News & Announcements forum. Stickies down!

We have added a "reply only" permission to the forums so the News & Announcements section is back in action!
To clarify, pre-ordering the physical Collector's Edition will grant you access to all beta tests. However you'll need to apply the game code included in the box to play TERA beyond launch.
In fact, can someone try replying to a News & Announcements thread to check that the permission is working? Thanks!
As the post outlines, we're working to expand the region we can ship to in parallel with getting the physical Collector's Edition added to retailer inventories.

We'll also be updating the pre-order page to include more details on Collector's Edition contents. The letter of marque is a document introducing you to the Valkyon Federation. The compass is metallic and does actually work. The map is printed on textured paper.
Zeromus on 2012-02-22 03:03:20 UTC - view
So I'm guessing the map will have to be folded to fit in the box. Darn you creases!

Nothing a little low-heat ironing can't fix.
